This newly revised law already covers a lot of the common standards like employment conditions, occupational health and safety issues as well as ensuring the code of conducts of international bodies, stakeholders, chambers, development partners-donors, regional bodies, home countries principles chartered in micro and macro level. Bangladesh Labour laws have a strong impact on industrial economy growth and managing private sector workforces among the enterprises working in Bangladesh territory. The article has discussed some perspectives of the labor law with challenges and recommendations that can excel a new hope for the private sector workforces.

Book excerpt: In most developing countries, the overall quality of the livelihood of labourers, work place environment and implementation of labour rights do not progress at the same rate as their industrial development. To address this situation, the ILO has initiated the concept of 'decent work' to assist regulators articulate labour-related social policy goals. Against this backdrop, this article assesses the Bangladesh Labour Law 2006 by reference to the four social principles developed by the ILO for ensuring 'decent work'. It explains the impact of the absence of these principles in this Law on the labour administration in the ready-made garment and ship-breaking industries. It finds that an appropriate legislative framework needs to be based on the principles of 'decent work' to establish a solid platform for a sound labour regulation in Bangladesh.

The article has focused on the perspectives to promote Bangladesh labor law that may aligned with the key functions of human resources management i.e Recruitment, leave and working hours, compensation& wages, work safety, health-hygiene, employment separations & benefits, disciplinary process, right to form associations, right of expressing grievance & dissatisfactions in broader aspects. Furthermore, it depicts the impacts & practical challenges that enterprises may face with managing human resources. The methods of presenting the article content is a literature based analysis with some secondary data sourced from periodicals and reports of local and international bodies.
