Book Rethinking Democratic Backsliding in Central and Eastern Europe

Download or read book Rethinking Democratic Backsliding in Central and Eastern Europe written by Licia Cianetti and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-06-29 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book seeks to inject fresh thinking into the debate on democratic deterioration in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), viewing ‘democratic backsliding’ through the prism of a range of cases beyond Hungary and Poland, to redress the imbalance in current scholarship. Over the past decade a consensus has emerged that democracy in CEE is sharply deteriorating, perhaps even ‘backsliding’ into new forms of authoritarianism. Debate has, however, so far focused disproportionately on the two most dramatic and surprising cases: Hungary and Poland. This book reflects on the ‘backsliding’ debate through the experience of CEE countries such as the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Latvia, and Estonia; as well as neighbouring post-communist regions such as the Western Balkans and former Soviet Union (cases such as Moldova and Ukraine), whose patterns of failing or partial democratisation may be newly instructive for analysing the development of CEE. Contributors present less frequently considered perspectives on ‘democratic backsliding’ in the CEE region, such as the role of oligarchisation and wealth concentration; the potential of ethnographical approaches to democracy evaluation; the trade-offs between democratic quality and democratic stability; and the long-term interplay between social movements, state-building, and democratisation. This book was originally published as a special issue of East European Politics.

Book Getting Back in the Race

Download or read book Getting Back in the Race written by Joel R. Beeke and published by Cruciform Press. This book was released on 2011-11 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is backsliding, really? Is it serious? What can be done about it? The Christian life is a race, a marathon. Through the gospel, God summons us to sustained and persevering effort. He empowers his children by grace--free and undeserved blessing through Christ. But he does not carry them to heaven on flowery beds of ease. Faith is a living, athletic grace. God's mercy motivates Christians and energizes them to press on and overcome great obstacles. Christ blazed the trail before us. He now calls us to follow Him to the end (Hebrews 12:1-2). Looking unto Jesus--that is how we persevere. In him is everything we need. But realistically speaking, Christians are not always pressing forward. Sometimes they wander off the narrow path, slip, and injure themselves. To the confused and injured runner, this book says, "God can help you. You can finish this race--and finish it well." Drawing from the wisdom of the Scriptures and aided by the insights of godly Bible teachers through the centuries, Getting Back in the Race addresses the age-old problem of backsliding. Backsliding is a season in the life of a professing Christian when his sin grows stronger and his obedience to God declines. The beginning of the book uncovers signs of sliding into a spiritual rut, for this is often more subtle than falling into scandalous sins. The rest of the book shows that there is hope for the backslider. God is so amazing! Even though our backsliding insults him, dishonors him, grieves him, and pushes away his love, still he calls us to return to him. When you grasp hold of God's methods by faith, you discover that Christ has grasped hold of you. Our spiritual Physician has potent medicines to heal his people from their injuries and get them back on track to finish the race. This book is a wake-up call to careless Christians and an encouragement to all believers to keep running to the Lord.

Download or read book 4 Keys to Success written by Eric Bowden and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-05-16 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today I start a new journey in my life. Giving up the old and walking into the unknown. The passion for ministry, comparable to a mother giving birth. A dream peeking out like a bud in spring time. Standing on Gods Word I will never leave you, nor forsake you, preparing for the door to open. I write these words as a reminder of what God has done. Giving no man credit, not even me, for the life and blessings. When you start from the bottom, the only way to go is up. Amazingly, I have learned that my low place was a planned placed. Poverty being a lesson of faith and being raised by a single parent, it strengthened me to believe and overcome addiction, which became my testimony. A failed life, no; a blessed life, yes.

  • ISBN : 1973629623
  • Pages : 254 pages

Download or read book The Pathway to Success written by Pastor S. O. Nnadikwe and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2018-06-29 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is divided into two parts with an introduction. Part 1 has four chapters, and part 2 has three chapters. Part 1 is kingdom keys for succeeding in life, and part 2 is principles for success. The book has seven chapters in whole. The book is all about succeeding in life, and there are pathways you must follow to get there. Apparently, success is not a destination but a movement upward from one level to the next level. Success can become a failure when you dont continue moving forward. Success of yesterday can become failures of today, if there is no further progress. Through this book, you will understand that failure is a confession, as success is. So when you say it is impossible, you become a failure indeed. Even God cannot help you until you change your confession. Failure is the beginning of success because it tells you to try it again. And in doing it again, you win. Through this book, you will also learn how to invest in Gods kingdom, obey his word, and manage your life and time in others to get to your wealthy place. There is a wealthy place God has prepared for you, and he wants you to get there. The pathway to success is summed up in the following: Dont lose the sight of God. You will learn that if you loss the sight of God, you will lose sight of greatness. King Uzziah lost sight of God as well as Apostle Judas Iscariot. Both never became great. Succeeding through the force of labor. You will understand that your wealth, success, or prosperity is traceable to your assignment or Gods purpose you are carrying out. There is no entitlement in title bearing. It is the work you do that bears the title and brings about your wealth. Invest in the kingdom of God. Here in this chapter, you will learn how to serve God properly. You will also know that if you dont service your purpose, your purpose will become purposeless. Kingdom investment is what brings life increment. Whatever that is saved in Gods hands is secured and generates wealth. There is a bank of heaven and given is the channel through which you store up treasures in the bank and righteousness is the medium through which you activate it for withdrawal, and through the name of Jesus withdrawal is made possible. Patience is a divine factor that stabilizes your faith for effective performance in any given areas of life. Obedience is one of the spiritual tests for succeeding in life. You will get to understand that when you obey Gods Word, natural and even spiritual things will obey you. Application is the scientific way of getting answers to any equations of scientific nature, and so it is in the kingdom of God. Manage your life. You will know that God created you to be a leader and a manager. Management is the key to enthronement. You will manage your life through planning, organizing, directing, and controlling. Manage your time wisely. You will get to understand that time is the currency of life and the key to fulfillment. Time management is the proper use of time to achieve all your goals and prioritizing them according to importance. Time management will help you prioritize, know your objective, plan very well, and then schedule your task. Discipline helps to maintain sanity and prepares one for future glory.
