Book Community Series In Mental Health Related Stigma and Discrimination Prevention Role and Management Strategies volume II

Download or read book Community Series In Mental Health Related Stigma and Discrimination Prevention Role and Management Strategies volume II written by Renato de Filippis and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-03-06 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Research Topic is the second volume of the "Community Series In Mental-Health-Related Stigma and Discrimination: Prevention, Role, and Management Strategies". Please see the first volume here. Despite the tremendous progress and successes achieved in diagnostics, therapy, and rehabilitation in psychiatry over the past few decades, the stigma towards mental health patients, their relatives and caregivers, and healthcare professionals is still present. Social stigma, in particular, represents a major obstacle to maintaining adequate mental health care. This increases reluctance to seek help delays patients' diagnosis and limits their compliance and adherence to treatment. In the long term, this reduces psychiatric rehabilitation effectiveness and causes a burden to healthcare providers and society alike. The main goal of this Research Topic is to evaluate the impact and role of stigma, in all its forms, on individuals with psychiatric disorders, their caregivers, and mental health providers.

Book Handbook of Research on Global Institutional Roles for Inclusive Development

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Global Institutional Roles for Inclusive Development written by Baporikar, Neeta and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-06-24 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the history of multilateral governance and the impact of the global pandemic, there is no doubt that we are at a transition between the system that marked the decades after the Second World War and a more extensive system of international governance that will characterize the world for the next generation. That system may keep the long-standing promise to serve the world's least advantaged, or it may serve to marginalize them further. For more than a century and a half, the most powerful national governments have created institutions of multilateral governance that promise to make a more inclusive world, a world serving women, working people, the colonized, the “backward,” the destitute, and the despised. That promise and the real impact need deliberation and discussion. The Handbook of Research on Global Institutional Roles for Inclusive Development examines the concepts that have powerfully influenced development policy and, more broadly, examines the role of ideas in these institutions and how they have affected the current development discourse. It enhances the understanding of how these ideas travel within systems and how they are translated into policy, modified, distorted, or resisted. Covering topics such as ethical consumption, academic migration, and sustainable global capitalism, this book is an essential resource for government officials, activists, management, academicians, researchers, students and educators of higher education, and educational administration and faculty.

Book Mental Health in Rural America

Download or read book Mental Health in Rural America written by Ellen Greene Stewart and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-19 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive overview of mental health in rural America, with the goal of fostering urgently needed research and honest conversations about providing accessible, culturally competent mental health care to rural populations. Grounding the work is an explanation of the history and structure of rural mental health care, the culture of rural living among diverse groups, and the crucial "A’s" and "S": accountability, accessibility, acceptability, affordability, and stigma. The book then examines poverty, disaster mental health, ethics in rural mental health, and school counseling. It ends with practical information and treatments for two of the most common problems, suicide and substance abuse, and a brief exploration of collaborative possibilities in rural mental health care.
