Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The six-volume CRC Handbook of Ion Exchange Resins reviews the application of ion exchange resins to inorganic analytical chemistry. Extracted from over 6,000 original publications, it presents the information in over 1,000 tables complemented by concise descriptions of analytical methods involving virtually all the elements of the periodic table. Also, the ion exchange characteristics of the elements, as well as other important information required by analysis using ion exchange resins, are presented in separate tables. The methods that allow the multi-element analysis of complex matrices are emphasized. This work includes a general discussion of the theoretical, instrumental, and other principles underlying the various applications of ion exchange resins in inorganic analytical chemistry with special attention focused on techniques based on ion chromatography.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bewitched is an odd word with which to begin a chemical textbook. Yet that is a fair description of how I reacted on first leaming of ion exchange and imagining what might be done with it. That initial fascination has not left me these many years later, and it has provided much ofthe motivation for writing this book. The perceived need for a text on the fundamentals of ion chromatography provided the rest. Many readers will have a general idea of what ion chromatography is and what it does. Briefly, for those who do not, it is an umbrella term for a variety of chromatographie methods for the rapid and sensitive analysis of mixtures of ionic species. It has become highly developed in the last decade, and while it is now routinely used for the determination of organic as weH as inorganic ions, its initial impact was greatest in the area of inorganic analysis. In the past the determination of inorganic ions, particularly anions, meant laborious, time-con suming, and often not very sensitive "wet chemieal" methods. In the last ten years that has changed radically as ion chromatography has supplanted these older methods.

Book Recent Developments in Ion Exchange

Download or read book Recent Developments in Ion Exchange written by Peter A. Williams and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These Conference Proceedings deal with the papers presented at the International Conference on Ion Exchange Processes (ION-EX '87) which was held at The North East Wales Institute of Higher Education, 13-16 April 1987. The camera-ready paper format was chosen so that delegates could receive their copy on arrival at the Conference. The Proceedings include reviews of traditional ion exchange processes, ion chromatography and synthesis of resins. In addition there are research papers dealing with inorganic ion analysis; organic acid and organic base analysis; the theory of ion exchange and novel developments; the industrial ion exchange procedures; and finally inorganic ion exchangers. The Proceedings should therefore be of interest to those who need to be brought up to date in the various aspects of processes which involve ion exchange and ion chromatography which are now accepted as important in analysis, separation processes and process control. In each of these areas there have been important developments which are herein described. As Editors we should like to express our thanks to the individual authors for preparing their manuscripts in the required format and to Haydn Hughes for his invaluable assistance in compiling these Proceedings. Book Determination of Anions by Ion Chromatography

Download or read book Determination of Anions by Ion Chromatography written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mixtures of various anions were separated on low-capacity anion-exchange resins with solutions of potassium benzoate, potassium hydrogen phthalate, or potassium citrate as eluents. The separated anions in the effluent were detected by conductivity measurement. A noticeable feature of this study was the use of a strongly acidic cation-exchange column that served to convert simple ion salts to their acids with little or no effect on the background conductivity of the eluent. This resulted in considerable enhancement of the sensitivity of detection, and allowed the determination of anions in low concentrations, ie, from a few micrograms to nanograms per millilitre. The technique was tentatively applied to the determination of anions in tap water and tungstic oxides.
