Book Gas Burners Utilizing All Air for Combustion as Primary Air

Download or read book Gas Burners Utilizing All Air for Combustion as Primary Air written by Everett J. Boothby and published by . This book was released on 1944 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theories of combustion of air-gas mixtures containing varying percentages of air up to and exceeding that required for complete combustion are developed and interpreted insofar as they might apply to domestic gas burner designs. Specific data on design of burners to supply theoretical air-gas mixtures and to burn such mixtures with suitable flame characteristics are presented. Means of obtaining theoretical air-gas mixtures both by aspiration of primay air by low pressure gas and by recourse to external energy sources (air, gas, or air and gas under pressure) are treated. Specific applications of 100 per cent primary air burners are reviewed and their performance discussed. Inherent problems involved in combustion of theoretical air-gas mixtures in domestic appliances are considered and the engineering approach for their solution indicated.

Book Combustion Engineering Second Edition

Download or read book Combustion Engineering Second Edition written by Kenneth W. Ragland and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2011-06-15 with total page 552 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combustion Engineering, Second Edition maintains the same goal as the original: to present the fundamentals of combustion science with application to today’s energy challenges. Using combustion applications to reinforce the fundamentals of combustion science, this text provides a uniquely accessible introduction to combustion for undergraduate students, first-year graduate students, and professionals in the workplace. Combustion is a critical issue impacting energy utilization, sustainability, and climate change. The challenge is to design safe and efficient combustion systems for many types of fuels in a way that protects the environment and enables sustainable lifestyles. Emphasizing the use of combustion fundamentals in the engineering and design of combustion systems, this text provides detailed coverage of gaseous, liquid and solid fuel combustion, including focused coverage of biomass combustion, which will be invaluable to new entrants to the field. Eight chapters address the fundamentals of combustion, including fuels, thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, flames, detonations, sprays, and solid fuel combustion mechanisms. Eight additional chapters apply these fundamentals to furnaces, spark ignition and diesel engines, gas turbines, and suspension burning, fixed bed combustion, and fluidized bed combustion of solid fuels. Presenting a renewed emphasis on fundamentals and updated applications to illustrate the latest trends relevant to combustion engineering, the authors provide a number of pedagogic features, including: Numerous tables with practical data and formulae that link combustion fundamentals to engineering practice Concise presentation of mathematical methods with qualitative descriptions of their use Coverage of alternative and renewable fuel topics throughout the text Extensive example problems, chapter-end problems, and references These features and the overall fundamentals-to-practice nature of this book make it an ideal resource for undergraduate, first level graduate, or professional training classes. Students and practitioners will find that it is an excellent introduction to meeting the crucial challenge of engineering sustainable combustion systems in a cost-effective manner. A solutions manual and additional teaching resources are available with qualifying course adoption.

Download or read book Analytic Combustion written by Anil Waman Date and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-09 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to serve as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students as well as professionals engaged in application of thermo-fluid science to the study of combustion. The relevant thermo-chemistry and thermo-physical data required for this study are provided in the 6 appendices along with appropriate curve-fit coefficients. To facilitate gradual learning, two chapters are devoted to thermodynamics of pure and gaseous mixture substances, followed by one chapter each on chemical equilibrium and chemical kinetics. This material when coupled with a dedicated chapter on understanding of equations governing transport of momentum, heat and mass in the presence of chemical reactions provides adequate grounding to undertake analysis of practical combustion equipment, of premixed and diffusion flames as well as of solid particle and liquid droplet combustion. The learnings from the aforementioned chapters are taken to a uniquely strong chapter on application case studies, some of which have special relevance for developing countries.
