Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1928 the Soviet Union proposed the establishment of an autonomous socialist Jewish republic in the far eastern reaches of Russian territory. In Birobidzhan the eternal search for a Jewish homeland would be realized and Jews would possess their own institutions, which would function in Yiddish. A "new" Jew would be created, emancipated, and rejuvenated. Although the project was eventually revealed to be a fraud, thousands of left-wing Jews in Canada and the United States passionately supported it and campaigned on its behalf - some even emigrated to Birobidzhan.

I BELIEVE IT IS TIME FOR EVERYONE WHO IS LOOKING FORWARD TO THE COMING OF THE LORD, TO SET THEIR GOAL IN THE REMAINING TIME WE HAVE LEFT TO TRY TO UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT THESE SEALS ACTUALLY PERTAIN TO. IT IS ONE THING JUST TO SKIM OVER THEM AND MAKE A FEW REMARKS, BUT WHAT WE EVERYONE NEED TO DO, IS MAKE SURE WE UNDERSTAND EXACTLY WHAT THEY PERTAIN TO AND HOW SOCIETY IN THAT SPECIFIC TIME IS IMPACTED. I DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO COVER THESE SCRIPTURES THE WAY I FEEL LED TO, BUT WE WILL TAKE AS MUCH TIME AS IS NEEDED TO MAKE EVERYTHING AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE, SO PRAY FOR ME AS WE BEGIN TO LOOK INTO THEM, THAT I MAY HAVE THE LEADING OF THE SPIRIT OF GOD THE ENTIRE TIME IT TAKES TO COVER THEM.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paperback. The papers in this book deal with the consumption of time, i.e. the time consuming aspects of activities and their evaluation, and with the timing of consumption, i.e. the advancement or postponement of consumption and saving activities. These two aspects of time are considered in an interdisciplinary setting by economists, psychologists and sociologists. Two general discussion papers also deal with the relationship between the disciplines. Interesting features of this volume are:1. Download or read book Shield of David written by Chaim M. Rosenberg and published by Wicked Son. This book was released on 2022-11-29 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jews first arrived in the New World in 1654, seeking religious freedom. Since the beginning of American nationhood, Jewish volunteers and conscripts fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, on both sides of the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, in both World Wars, and in the Korean, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Over the years, the American military learned to integrate its Jewish servicemen and women by providing Jewish military chaplains, kosher food, religious services, and placing the Star of David on the graves of fallen Jewish soldiers. The end of conscription and the establishment of the All-Volunteer Force in 1973 offered other paths to serve our country. American Jews have contributed with distinction in the arts and sciences, academia, entertainment, government, and in building the economy. For Jews, America is the Goldene Medina—the Golden Country.

Download or read book German Migrant Historians in North America written by Karen Hagemann and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2024-11-01 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The migration experiences, career paths, and scholarship of historians born in Germany who started emigrating to North America in the 1950s have had a unique impact on the transatlantic practice of Central European History. German Migrant Historians in North America analyzes the experiences of this postwar group of scholars, and asks what informed their education and career choices, and what motivated them to emigrate to North America. The contributors reflect on how these migration experiences informed their own research and teaching, and particularly discuss the more general development of the transatlantic exchange between German and American historians in the scholarship on Modern Central European History.
