Book excerpt: [Siren Everlasting Classic ManLove: Erotic Romance, Alternative, Fantasy, Shape-shifters, Paranormal, MM, HEA] Caleb McKane inherited everything after his brother's death, including his mate, and the male Caleb was in love with as a teenager, omega Julian. It's been ten years since they saw each other. Caleb knew his brother was a bit of a jerk, but seeing Julian's condition almost makes him glad his brother is gone, otherwise he might have to kill him all over again. Julian is skinny, skittish and scared, but he now belongs to Caleb, and Caleb is going to make amends for what happened to him. One way or the other. Julian doesn't know what to expect when he sees Caleb again. He's older, to be sure, more filled out and just as handsome as the young alpha Julian fell in love with, even when he was promised to another. Caleb seems to care, seems to want to help, but there's only one thing Julian wants from him. His heat is coming, and he wants a good, gentle alpha to help him through it for the first time ever. If Caleb wants to make amends, he can start right there. Marcy Jacks is a Siren-exclusive author.

Book Type Inheritance and Relational Theory

Download or read book Type Inheritance and Relational Theory written by C.J. Date and published by "O'Reilly Media, Inc.". This book was released on 2016-09-08 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Type inheritance is that phenomenon according to which we can say, for example, that every square is also a rectangle, and so properties that apply to rectangles in general apply to squares in particular. In other words, squares are a subtype of rectangles, and rectangles are a supertype of squares. Recognizing and acting upon such subtype / supertype relationships provides numerous benefits: Certainly it can help in data modeling, and it can also provide for code reuse in applications. For these reasons, many languages, including the standard database language SQL, have long supported such relationships. However, there doesn’t seem to be any consensus in the community at large on a formal, rigorous, and abstract model of inheritance. This book proposes such a model, one that enjoys several advantages over other approaches, not the least of which it is that it’s fully compatible with the well known relational model of data. Topics the model covers include: Both single and multiple inheritance Scalar, tuple, and relation inheritance Type lattices and union and intersection types Polymorphism and substitutability Compile time and run time binding All of these topics are described in detail in the book, with numerous illustrative examples, exercises, and answers. The book also discusses several alternative approaches. In particular, it includes a detailed discussion and analysis of inheritance as supported in the SQL standard.

It aims to be comprehensive (not only complete, but also collated, integrated, and interpreted), authoritative (not only accurate but also sound in its interpretations and judgements), and timely (not only up-to-date but also historically dimensioned). From a review of the eleventh edition, Reproductive Toxicology: "Even the convenience of computer-based forms of MIM cannot eliminate the need for MIM in book form. The preface provides a wonderful synopsis of human genetics. The information contained in this text serves as a concise review for those with a genetics background." From a review of the tenth edition, New England Journal of Medicine: " Victor McKusick] has been for all these years the shepherd of the development of the field of clinical genetics]. Perhaps his most important pragmatic achievement has been the 10 editions of Mendelian Inheritance in Man, which rapidly became and has remained the principal source of information on inherited diseases for all clinical geneticists. "In addition to the erudite entries in the books, the references given with each description represent a magnificent bibliography of clinical genetics. With McKusick's leadership and continued interest in gene mapping, the book also rep-resents an important compen-dium of the location of genes on specific chromosomes. "The book is a magnificent security blanket for the clinical geneticist and should be in the libraries not only of these specialists, but also of all others who see patients with diseases that have genetic components."
