Book The All Seeing Unseen Eye of God and Other Sermons

Download or read book The All Seeing Unseen Eye of God and Other Sermons written by Matthew Newcomen and published by Puritan Publications. This book was released on 2013-07-24 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a compilation of Newcomen’s most rare sermons. The sermons reflect a life dedicated to experiencing and understanding the bible, spiritual truth, and experimental Christianity. His preaching is eminently biblical, energetic and powerful. They clearly display the peculiar ability Newcomen had to capture the attention of a church congregation in order to teach them the great truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His first sermon covers, “The All-Seeing Unseen Eye Of God” which is a fantastic exhortation to holiness taken from Hebrews 4:13, “But all things are naked and open unto the eyes of him, with whom we have to do.” God knows every person who ever was or will be, all their works, all their speeches, and all their thoughts, and such things are always present in the mind of God. This should prompt us to fear and revere God. This sermon alone is worth the cost of the volume. It is best exhortation on this subject matter in print. “The Craft and Cruelty of the Church’s Adversaries” is a powerful polemic against Roman Catholicism, Arminianism and Libertinism which deters Christians to the true faith found in Jesus Christ alone. He explains Nehemiah 4:11, “And our adversaries said, They shall not know nor see, till we come in the midst among them, and slay them, and cause the work to cease.” He shows how the church is at war with the wicked designs of men who would tear down the work of Jesus Christ. Also included is “Jerusalem’s Watchman,” “Walking Worthy of the Gospel,” and a funeral sermon on Acts 13:36. This work is not a scan or facsimile and has been made easy to read with an active table of contents for electronic versions.

  • Pages : 288 pages

Download or read book Seeing Red written by Kirsten Karchmer and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A world-renowned women’s health expert reveals a bold, practical, and data-driven handbook for menstrual periods that provides an easy-to-navigate roadmap for improving your reproductive health—and your everyday quality of life. We’ve been lied to about periods. PMS, cramping, bloating, migraines, irritability, and anxiety may be extremely common, but contrary to popular belief, they aren’t normal. And they certainly aren’t “just part of being a woman,” despite the fact that this is what we’ve been told time and time again—by friends, family, and even doctors. After dedicating her entire clinical career to deconstructing the menstrual cycle, women’s health expert Kirsten Karchmer knows better. During her more than twenty years of research and treating thousands of patients, Karchmer found that most period problems women experience—even the most painful ones—are totally correctable and more surprisingly reflective of overall health and fertility. In this forthright, spirited, and all-encompassing guide, Karchmer draws on her decades’ worth of experience as a women’s health expert to break down the myths so many women have been led to believe about their periods. For the more than 82 million women in the world who suffer from menstrual conditions, Seeing Red explains the importance of a healthy menstrual cycle (and how to achieve it) and why it is important to the women’s movement. Menstrual cycles are not a curse, but an instrument providing women with one of the most valuable, regularly occurring, and free diagnostic tools they have, giving them access to unprecedented health and power.

Book Seeing Is Forgetting the Name of the Thing One Sees

Download or read book Seeing Is Forgetting the Name of the Thing One Sees written by Lawrence Weschler and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Robert Irwin, perhaps the most influential of the California artists, moved from his beginnings in abstract expressionism through successive shifts in style and sensibility, into a new aesthetic territory altogether, one where philosophical concepts of perception and the world interact. Weschler has charted the journey with exceptional clarity and cogency. He has also, in the process, provided what seems to me the best running history of postwar West Coast art that I have yet seen."—Calvin Tomkins

Book Seeing Around Corners

Download or read book Seeing Around Corners written by Rita McGrath and published by Houghton Mifflin. This book was released on 2019 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first prescriptive, innovative guide to seeing inflection points before they happen--and how to harness these disruptive influences to give your company a strategic advantage. Paradigmatic shifts in the business landscape, known as inflection points, can either create new, entrepreneurial opportunities (see Amazon and Netflix) or they can lead to devastating consequences (e.g., Blockbuster and Toys R Us). Only those leaders who can "see around corners"-that is, spot the disruptive inflection points developing before they hit-are poised to succeed in this market. Columbia Business School Professor and corporate consultant Rita McGrath contends that inflection points, though they may seem sudden, are not random. Every seemingly overnight shift is the final stage of a process that has been subtly building for some time. Armed with the right strategies and tools, smart businesses can see these inflection points coming and use them to gain a competitive advantage. Seeing Around Corners is the first hands-on guide to anticipating, understanding, and capitalizing on the inflection points shaping the marketplace.

Book excerpt: After beginning his career as a photojournalist for a daily newspaper in southern California, Dan Winters moved to New York to begin a celebrated career that has since led to more than one hundred awards, including the Alfred Eisenstaedt Award for Magazine Photography. An immensely respected portrait photographer, Dan is well known for an impeccable use of light, colour, and depth in his evocative images. In Road to Seeing, Dan shares his journey to becoming a photographer, as well as key moments in his career that have influenced and informed the decisions he has made and the path he has taken. Though this book appeals to the broader photography audience, it speaks primarily to the student of photography--whether enrolled in school or not--and addresses such topics as creating a visual language; the history of photography; the portfolio; street photography; personal projects; his portraiture work; and the need for key characteristics such as perseverance, awareness, curiosity, and reverence. By relaying both personal experiences and a kind of philosophy on photography, Road to Seeing tells the reader how one photographer carved a path for himself, and in so doing, helps equip the reader to forge his own.

Book Seeing Things as They are

Download or read book Seeing Things as They are written by John R. Searle and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2015 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive account of the intentionality of perceptual experience. With special emphasis on vision Searle explains how the raw phenomenology of perception sets the content and the conditions of satisfaction of experience. The central question concerns the relation between the subjective conscious perceptual field and the objective perceptual field. Everything in the objective field is either perceived or can be perceived. Nothing in the subjective field is perceived nor can be perceived precisely because the events in the subjective field consist of the perceivings, whether veridical or not, of the events in the objective field. Searle begins by criticizing the classical theories of perception and identifies a single fallacy, what he calls the Bad Argument, as the source of nearly all of the confusions in the history of the philosophy of perception. He next justifies the claim that perceptual experiences have presentational intentionality and shows how this justifies the direct realism of his account. In the central theoretical chapters, he shows how it is possible that the raw phenomenology must necessarily determine certain form of intentionality. Searle introduces, in detail, the distinction between different levels of perception from the basic level to the higher levels and shows the internal relation between the features of the experience and the states of affairs presented by the experience. The account applies not just to language possessing human beings but to infants and conscious animals. He also discusses how the account relates to certain traditional puzzles about spectrum inversion, color and size constancy and the brain-in-the-vat thought experiments. In the final chapters he explains and refutes Disjunctivist theories of perception, explains the role of unconscious perception, and concludes by discussing traditional problems of perception such as skepticism.
