Book Method for Aqueous Gold Thiosulfate Extraction Using Copper cyanide Pretreated Carbon Adsorption

Download or read book Method for Aqueous Gold Thiosulfate Extraction Using Copper cyanide Pretreated Carbon Adsorption written by and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A gold thiosulfate leaching process uses carbon to remove gold from the leach liquor. The activated carbon is pretreated with copper cyanide. A copper (on the carbon) to gold (in solution) ratio of at least 1.5 optimizes gold recovery from solution. To recover the gold from the carbon, conventional elution technology works but is dependent on the copper to gold ratio on the carbon.

Book Adsorption of Gold from Cyanide Solution Onto Mineral Surfaces

Download or read book Adsorption of Gold from Cyanide Solution Onto Mineral Surfaces written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 2 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a typical gold recovery plant, it is estimated that as much as 0.2 grams per ton of the gold reporting to the tailings is in a form that is theoretically recoverable; however, this gold is lost. Possible causes of this phenomenon include adsorption of the gold cyanide onto carbonaceous materials or onto various minerals, insufficient leaching time, and abraded activated carbon loss. This gold loss equates to about R13 million of potential revenue to this country alone. The aim of the present work was therefore to investigate the adsorption behaviour of gold onto several pure mineral surfaces that are common in gold ores, and to extablish the presence and significance of such an effect.

Book Application of Nanotechnology in Mining Processes

Download or read book Application of Nanotechnology in Mining Processes written by Elvis Fosso-Kankeu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-01-31 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: b”Application of Nanotechnology in Mining ProcessesNanotechnology has revolutionized processes in many industries but its application in the mining industry has not been widely discussed. This unique book provides an overview of the successful implementation of nanotechnology in some of the key environmental and beneficiation mining processes. This book explores extensively the potential of nanotechnology to revolutionize the mining industry which has been relying for a very long on processes with limited efficiencies. The nine specialized chapters focus on applying nanoflotation to improve mineral processing, effective extraction of metals from leachates or pregnant solutions using nanoscale supramolecular hosts, and development of nano-adsorbents or nano-based strategies for the remediation or valorization of AMD. The application of nanotechnology in mining has so far received little attention from the industry and researchers and this groundbreaking book features critical issues so far under-reported in the literature: Application of nanotechnology in mineral processing for the enhancement of froth flotation Development of smart nanomaterials and application for the treatment of acid mine drainage Recovery of values from pregnant solutions using nanoadsorbents Valorization of AMD through formation of multipurpose nanoproducts. Audience Industrial interest will be from mining plant operators, environmental managers, water treatment plants managers, and operators. Researchers in nanotechnology, environmental science, mining, and metallurgy engineering will find the book valuable, as will government entities such as regulatory bodies officers and environmentalists.

Book The Recovery Of Gold From Secondary Sources

Download or read book The Recovery Of Gold From Secondary Sources written by Syed Sabir and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-06-29 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New discoveries of the properties of gold at a nanoscale, and its effective use in modern technologies, have been driving a virtual 'gold rush'. Depleting natural resources has meant that the recovery of gold continues to grow in importance and relevance. The Recovery of Gold from Secondary Sources analyses the most advanced technology in gold recovery and recycling from spent sources of mobile phones, unwanted electronic equipment and waste materials. State-of-the-art techniques of hydrometallurgical and bio-metallurgical processing, leaching, cementing, adsorbing and separation through bio-sorbents are all described in detail, providing a guide for students and researchers. Discussion of environmentally friendly methods of recovery are presented, in order to provide modern-day alternatives to previous techniques. For those interested in the study of gold recovery this book gives a comprehensive overview of current recovery, making it the ultimate source of information for students, researchers, chemists, metallurgists, environmental scientists and electronic waste recovery experts.

Book Advances in Hydrometallurgy

Download or read book Advances in Hydrometallurgy written by Alexandre Chagnes and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-05-22 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of new technologies and the increasing demand for mineral resources from emerging countries are responsible for significant tensions in the pricing of non-ferrous metals. Some metals have become strategic and critical because they are used in many technological applications such as flat panel TVs (indium), solar panel cells (indium), lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (lithium, cobalt), magnets (rare earth elements, such as neodymium and dysprosium), scintillators (rare earths), and aviation and medical applications (titanium); their availabilities remain limited. The secured supply of these metals is crucial to continue producing and exporting these technologies, and because the specific properties of these metals make them essential and difficult to substitute for a given industrial application. Hydrometallurgy have the advantages of being able to process low-grade ores, to allow better control of co-products, and have a lower environmental impact providing that the hydrometallurgical route is optimized and cheap. The need to develop sustainable, efficient, and cheap processes to extract metals from complex and poor polymetallic matrices is real. The aim of this book was to highlight recent advances related to hydrometallurgy to face new challenges in metal production.

Book The Mechanism of the Adsorption of Gold Cyanide on Activated Carbon

Download or read book The Mechanism of the Adsorption of Gold Cyanide on Activated Carbon written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed that the adsorption of gold cyanide on carbon in the presence or absence of electrolytes and acids proceeds by the same mechanism. Although the identity of the gold cyanide adsorbate is not known, the mechanism appears to have an initial adsorption stage that involves the adsorption of an ion pair: M(n+)[Au(CN)2(-)]n, where M(n+) is a metal ion (for example Na+, K+ and Ca(2+) that has a lower solubility than the Au(CN)2(-) anion in the adsorption medium, followed by a reduction step in which either a sub-stoichiometric Au(CN)x surface species or a cluster-type compound of gold is formed.
