Book The Addiction Manifesto

Download or read book The Addiction Manifesto written by Jerry Weaver and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-04-20 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hello, I'm Jerry, army vet and a recovering addict. I wrote this book to help me stay sober but realized that if it could help keep a hopeless addict like myself sober then why wouldn't it help others? I have been blessed with another chance at life and so can you. I have tried to break down the addiction matrix, how addiction affects your mind and the tricks is uses to manipulate us to keep us in active addiction. We all know how dangerous that sweet voice of addiction can be, we've listened to it over and over again. The hardest step (to me) towards recovery was the very first step, admitting that I was a real addict and that I could not, would not, control my usage. I have broke down things that are helping me but we're all wired differently so you have to find what works for you. Thank you for reading this book and if you liked it please leave feedback or comments. Thank you and good luck!!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2021 Literary Titan Award Winner, 2021 American Writing Awards Winner, 2021 TCK Readers Choice Award Winner, 2021 Royal Dragonfly Award Winner, 2020 International Book Awards Finalist Army Veteran JR Weaver Chronicles His Journey To Recovery In The Addiction Manifesto Talented author and army veteran, JR Weaver, shares his experience battling addiction in his soon-to-be-launched book titled The Addiction Manifesto JR Weaver is an army veteran and person in long-term recovery who is passionate about the health and wellness of others as he is set to release his book titled The Addiction Manifesto. The author is looking to assist millions of people in different parts of the world through their journey to recovery as he details his experience and struggles with the hope of championing a global recovery revolution. Substance abuse and addiction remain a major plague that has continued to generate a lot of conversation across the globe due to its effect on people as well as its impact on the economies of nations. Unfortunately, recent statistics have shown a worrisome increase in the number of people suffering from addiction. According to a recent report published by the World Health Organization, about 270 million people, approximately 5.5% of the global population aged between 15 and 64, used psychoactive drugs with an estimated 35 million people suffering from drug use disorders and over 180 thousand deaths linked to drug use disorders in 2019. Unfortunately, many of the available addiction recovery resources are seemingly abstract, ultimately failing to yield the desired results. However, JR Weaver aims to change this narrative with the release of The Addiction Manifesto. The author personifies the recovery process, delivering an immersive experience to readers, as he writes about the trials and tribulations he faced during early recovery. JR Weaver aims to highlight the inherent powers of self-belief and how the personal desire to quit drug abuse remains the biggest obstacle to embracing a healthier, happier life. Published by Palmetto Publishing, The Addiction Manifesto initially started as a journal to help the author stay sober before he eventually decided to share his journey with the world as a self-help guide for persons in recovery as well as their loved ones. The book contains easy-to-implement yet effective tips that will help readers own their lives and become responsible members of the society. JR Weaver has already started to receive recognition from different quarters, emerging as a finalist at the 2020 International Book Awards in the Health: Addiction & Recovery category.

Book The Addiction Recovery Handbook

Download or read book The Addiction Recovery Handbook written by Richard W. Clark and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What Richard Clark presents in The Addiction Recovery Handbook: Understanding Addiction and Culture is long overdue. Since 1939, Bill Wilson’s important and influential books, Alcoholics Anonymous and AA’s Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, have helped millions of people struggling with addiction to recover. In more than 80 years since then, a lot has changed: the definition of addiction, its demographics, social attitudes to addiction, politics, religious influence, treatment modalities, and the epidemiology of the illness. These have taken tolls on our modern network of relationships and treatment that culture and community now depend upon. The Addiction Recovery Handbook examines the changing historical views of addiction, outlines how this culture developed its contemporary perceptions and values, and how society contributes to this growing problem. Richard Clark proposes AA’s traditional religious model of God’s help-and-forgiveness can no longer address the needs of a diverse and largely irreligious society where atheism is becoming mainstream. His updated analysis of the traditional ‘AA’ approach proposes that self-understanding and awareness—through knowledge and education, psychology, and compassion, be the significant components of any recovery framework. This will guide both caregivers and addicts to develop expertise regarding more successful treatment and recovery protocols. This would be in a supportive environment of self-knowledge and mutual respect, whether theist or atheist. All concerned will acquire the ability to live a spiritual life, which is clearly defined. The Addiction Recovery Handbook is an interesting and readable book and is intended for everyone: addicts, medical professionals, counsellors, therapists, clients, sponsors, social workers, family members, partners, friends, employers—every stakeholder in a healthy, non-judgmental society that cares about the wellbeing of all its members.

Book Routledge International Handbook of Sexual Addiction

Download or read book Routledge International Handbook of Sexual Addiction written by Thaddeus Birchard and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-11 with total page 968 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of sexual addiction has gained increasing recognition in the academic and healthcare communities since the 1990s. It has also captured the attention of the media, where there has been much debate over whether it can truly be described as an addiction. What is certain is that many people struggle with out of control sexual behaviour, which takes over their lives and has harmful consequences for their relationships, careers and finances. The Routledge International Handbook of Sexual Addiction brings together a comprehensive range of perspectives on sexual addiction from a worldwide selection of scholars and therapists. It sets out to define sexual addiction and to study its causes from a range of different psychological perspectives. A series of presentations of sexual addiction are outlined, including internet sexual addiction and the relationship between paraphilias and sex addiction. The handbook considers both individual and group treatment strategies, drawing on a wide range of approaches, including cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness and 12-step programmes. The book studies sex addiction in specific populations including women, adolescents and men who have sex with men. Finally, it considers some of the alternative discourses surrounding the concept of sexual addiction. This is the first comprehensive reference book to bring together global viewpoints on advances in research, theory and practice in one volume. This handbook provides an essential guide for academics and students of psychotherapy, counselling, nursing, addiction, sexualities, social work and health and social care, as well as professionals in practice and in training working with sexual addiction and related issues.

Book How to Break an Addiction

Download or read book How to Break an Addiction written by Annie Spencer and published by . This book was released on 2024-10-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What the opioid epidemic teaches us about the addiction at the root of our social life--and how we free ourselves from it. How To Break An Addiction offers an original and dynamic portrait of the nature of the opioid crisis while offering original commentary on what the crisis portends about the present historical conjuncture. Interrogating long- and short-run, macro and micro, national and global, structural and personal factors, it takes the ongoing U.S. opioid crisis as a jumping off point to illustrate the profound conclusion: capitalism at its core is an addiction. In a blend of memoir, historical record, original research, and theoretical and cultural analysis, critical geographer and harm reduction activist Annie Spencer argues against a dominant 'progressive' presumption of the need to reform (or 'save') capitalism, demonstrating instead the imperative to think, organize, and enact new ways of being and provisioning together on a living Earth. How To Break An Addiction renders visible the extent to which the world we inhabit today is made by addiction--in capital's image--and against life and well-being. Spencer calls for redress of the deepening crisis of addiction and the so-called 'epidemic' of pain at its root; for a paradigm shift away from the dominant economic logic in favor of new kinds of ecosystemic social practice and provision. We must innovate a new way of being human together in the here and now. Spencer's first-person narration anchors rigorous and far-reaching research and theory, making for an original and impactful tour through capital's addiction to crisis and our ability--and need--to break from it.
