Download or read book 90 Day Goal Setting Journal written by Vasiliki Harissis and published by . This book was released on 2019-08-09 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Congratulations on taking the first steps towards achieving your goal! This journal aims to:1.Help you break down a big goal into smaller, actionable goals you can work on daily to get to your big prize! 2.Keep you accountable by recording progress daily, as well as creating daily tasks and taking time to reflect on your day and where you are in your goal progress.3.Help you focus on your progress and the positive, while also making improvements where needed. You will start this journal on page one by stating what your goal is. Make sure to define this completely for yourself. Then, I want you to do a search and find one inspirational quote that aligns with your goal, and make this your "mantra" if you will. Every day when you open your journal to track your progress, read that quote on page one to yourself. You might want to write that note down on a sticky note and put it on your fridge or keep it in your car or on your desk at work. Words have power, so speak power to your goal daily! Then I ask you to decide why this goal is important to you. Be specific here. Is it going to make you healthier, improve your financial situation, make your family life better, and how? Before you even start Day One, you are going to pretend you have already achieved your goal and you're going to write down how you feel about it! This is for two purposes: (1) to get you to imagine the feeling and hopefully want to chase it that much harder and (2) to help you see the end, so connecting the dots in between the end result and Day One come a little easier to you. Then you will set some mini-goals: smaller tasks and things you need to handle before you can reach your main goal. After you have your objectives written down, your 90-day journal begins. I wish you luck on your journey! No matter how many times you stumble, keep going!

Book Networks of Outrage and Hope

Download or read book Networks of Outrage and Hope written by Manuel Castells and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-06-04 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Networks of Outrage and Hope is an exploration of the new forms of social movements and protests that are erupting in the world today, from the Arab uprisings to the indignadas movement in Spain, from the Occupy Wall Street movement to the social protests in Turkey, Brazil and elsewhere. While these and similar social movements differ in many important ways, there is one thing they share in common: they are all interwoven inextricably with the creation of autonomous communication networks supported by the Internet and wireless communication. In this new edition of his timely and important book, Manuel Castells examines the social, cultural and political roots of these new social movements, studies their innovative forms of self-organization, assesses the precise role of technology in the dynamics of the movements, suggests the reasons for the support they have found in large segments of society, and probes their capacity to induce political change by influencing people’s minds. Two new chapters bring the analysis up-to-date and draw out the implications of these social movements and protests for understanding the new forms of social change and political democracy in the global network society.

Book The Republican Right since 1945

Download or read book The Republican Right since 1945 written by David W. Reinhard and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2014-07-15 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1981, a Right Wing Republican at long last resided in the White House, presiding over what may prove to be the most fundamental restructuring of American political life since the days of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Fortunately, The Republican Right since 1945 now provides us with the necessary historical understanding of conservative Republicans. David Reinhard's dispassionate yet lively book recounts the Republican Right's political struggles from the death of FDR in 1945 to the inauguration of Ronald Reagan. Younger readers will discover that Right Wing Republicans are older than Ronald Reagan or Barry Goldwater and that some conservative Republicans once feared the overextension of American power abroad and the rise of the "garrison state" at home. Those old enough to remember when the Republican Right was called the "Old Guard" will rediscover the events and personalities of those earlier years, thanks to Reinhard's use of more than thirty five manuscript collections and the most recent historical writing. Not content to let this history end where traditional manuscript sources run thin, Reinhard has brought the story of the Republican Right Wing forward to President Ronald Reagan's inauguration, placing Right Wing Republican reaction to the Johnson and the Nixon-Ford years within the context of the earlier period and chronicling the electoral triumph of Ronald Reagan and the Republican Right. Students of the past and observers of the present will appreciate Reinhard's treatment of the always-troubled Nixon-Republican Right association; challenger Ronald Reagan's battle against President Gerald Ford in 1976; the decline of GOP moderation; and the rise of the New Right-Moral Majority forces and their relationship to the now ascendant Republican Right. Reinhard illuminates the conservative Republican past and thereby makes the current political scene more understandable. Thoroughly researched and brilliantly written, The Republican Right since 1945 will fascinate scholars and general readers alike.

Book Psychiatric Hegemony

  • Author : Bruce M. Z. Cohen
  • Publisher : Springer
  • Release : 2016-11-21
  • ISBN : 1137460512
  • Pages : 251 pages

Download or read book Psychiatric Hegemony written by Bruce M. Z. Cohen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-21 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive Marxist critique of the business of mental health, demonstrating how the prerogatives of neoliberal capitalism for productive, self-governing citizens have allowed the discourse on mental illness to expand beyond the psychiatric institution into many previously untouched areas of public and private life including the home, school and the workplace. Through historical and contemporary analysis of psy-professional knowledge-claims and practices, Bruce Cohen shows how the extension of psychiatric authority can only be fully comprehended through the systematic theorising of power relations within capitalist society. From schizophrenia and hysteria to Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder, from spinning chairs and lobotomies to shock treatment and antidepressants, from the incarceration of working class women in the nineteenth century to the torture of prisoners of the ‘war on terror’ in the twenty-first, Psychiatric Hegemony is an uncompromising account of mental health ideology in neoliberal society.

Book Breaking Out of Beginner s Spanish

Download or read book Breaking Out of Beginner s Spanish written by Joseph J. Keenan and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many language books are boring—this one is not. Written by a native English speaker who learned Spanish the hard way—by trying to talk to Spanish-speaking people—it offers English speakers with a basic knowledge of Spanish hundreds of tips for using the language more fluently and colloquially, with fewer obvious "gringo" errors. Writing with humor, common sense, and a minimum of jargon, Joseph Keenan covers everything from pronunciation, verb usage, and common grammatical mistakes to the subtleties of addressing other people, "trickster" words that look alike in both languages, inadvertent obscenities, and intentional swearing. He guides readers through the set phrases and idiomatic expressions that pepper the native speaker's conversation and provides a valuable introduction to the most widely used Spanish slang. With this book, both students in school and adult learners who never want to see another classroom can rapidly improve their speaking ability. Breaking Out of Beginner's Spanish will be an essential aid in passing the supreme language test-communicating fluently with native speakers.
