Book The 50th Golden Age of Science Fiction MEGAPACK Russ Winterbotham

This book was released on 2020-06-15 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Russell Robert Winterbotham (1904-1971)—who wrote as both R.R. Winterbotham and Russ Winterbotham (as well as the pseudonyms “J. Harvey Bond” for mysteries and “Franklin Hadley”)—began publishing in the late 1920s, though his didn’t make his science fiction debut until 1935, when “The Star that Would not Behave” appeared in Astounding. He published prolifically in most of the top magazines of the day, before settling into an action-adventure niche. From the fiction magazines, he moved into comics (writing for Red Ryder), comic strips (he penned “Chris Welkin, Planeteer” from its start in 1951 into the 1960s), and Big Little books for the Whitman Publishing Company (he wrote at least 60, including the Maximo the Amazing Superman series). All the while, he maintained his full-time job as fiction editor for Scripps-Howard NEA news service. In those days, newspapers published fiction, and many had a weekly insert that included full-length novels. Although well regarded, his novels—which appeared under pseudonyms—failed to attract much fan attention, and he is largely forgotten today. Nevertheless, modern readers will enjoy his better-than-average writing and fun, action-adventure plots—often with clever twists. Included in this volume are: ORIDIN’S FORMULA THE MINUS WOMAN DEAD MAN’S PLANET THE THOUGHT-MEN OF MERCURY THE MONSTER THAT THREATENED THE UNIVERSE LONESOME HEARTS A LITTLE KNOWLEDGE THE WHISPERING SPHERES GENESIS! Book The 49th Golden Age of Science Fiction MEGAPACK Nelson S Bond

This book was released on 2020-06-15 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nelson Slade Bond (1908-2006) had a remarkable career as a science fiction writer. He wrote extensively for books, radio, television and the stage, and especially the pulp magazines. Like Ray Bradbury, he did his journeyman work in the science fiction pulps before graduating to the higher-paying “slick” magazines like Bluebook. The quality of his work was such that Arkham House, Gnome Press, Prime Press, and Doubleday issued collections of his early short stories. At Wildside Press, we were fortunate enough to work with him in his twilight years, and we reprinted his "Lancelog Biggs, Spaceman" collection, as well as a solo work, "That Worlds May Live," and made him the Featured Author of an early issue of Adventure Tales magazine. Book The 51st Golden Age of Science Fiction MEGAPACK Henry Hasse

Download or read book The 51st Golden Age of Science Fiction MEGAPACK Henry Hasse written by Henry Hasse and published by Wildside Press LLC. This book was released on 2020 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If Henry Hasse (1913–1977) is remembered today, it is probably as the co-author of Ray Bradbury's first published story, “Pendulum,” which appeared in November 1941 in Super Science Stories. He published only one novel, The Stars Will Wait, from a minor publisher in 1968. From the late 1930s to the early 1950s, however, he was a frequent and popular author in the pulp science fiction magazines, publishing more than 50 adventure stories such as the ones presented here. One, “He Who Shrank,” was anthologized in the seminal science fiction anthology, Adventures in Time and Space, edited by Raymond J. Healy and J. Francis McComas. (If the title sounds familiar, you might also have read it in Isaac Asimov’s anthology, Before the Golden Age.) He published his last two stories—probably unsold tales from his pulpster years—in Whispers in the 1970s. Included are: THE BEGINNING THE STAR OF SATAN ALCATRAZ OF THE STARWAYS REVENGE OF THE VERA STAR OF PANADUR THIEF OF MARS CITY OF THE LIVING FLAME PROKTOLS OF NEPTUNE WE’RE FRIENDS, NOW OUT OF THIS WORLD WALLS OF ACID ONE PURPLE HOPE!
