Book Lloyd s Register Technical Association 1997 1998

Download or read book Lloyd s Register Technical Association 1997 1998 written by Lloyd's Register Foundation and published by Lloyd's Register . This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lloyd’s Register Technical Association (LRTA) was established in 1920 with the primary objective of sharing technical expertise and knowledge within Lloyd’s Register. Publications have consistently been released on a yearly basis, with a brief interruption between 1938 and 1946. These publications serve as a key reference point for best practices and were initially reserved for internal use to maximise LR’s competitive advantage. Today, the LRTA takes a fresh approach, focusing on collaboration by combining professional expertise from across LRF & Group to ensure a frequent output of fresh perspectives and relevant content. The LRTA has evolved into a Group-wide initiative that identifies, captures, and shares knowledge spanning various business streams and functions. To support this modern approach, the LRTA has adopted a new structure featuring representatives and senior governance across the business streams and the LR Foundation. The Lloyd's Register Technical Association Papers should be seen as historical documents representing earlier viewpoints and are not reflective of current thinking and perspectives by the current LR Technical Association.

Book Cavitation Research at the Garfield Thomas Water Tunnel

Download or read book Cavitation Research at the Garfield Thomas Water Tunnel written by J. W. Holl and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Current research at the Garfield Thomas Water Tunnel of the Applied Research Laboratory, The Pennsylvania State University is in the areas of hub vortex cavitation, the effects of polymer additives, roughness effects and thermodynamic effects. Primary emphasis in this paper will be on the first two areas for the flow regime of limited cavitation. The effects of Reynolds number and vortex breakdown on hub vortex cavitation are presented. Experimental results for the effects of polymer additives on shear flow and on flows about axisymmetric bodies are discussed. A brief description of research on roughness and thermodynamic effects completes the paper. (Author).

Book Engineering Vibroacoustic Analysis

Download or read book Engineering Vibroacoustic Analysis written by Stephen A. Hambric and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-05-02 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book describes analytical methods (based primarily on classical modal synthesis), the Finite Element Method (FEM), Boundary Element Method (BEM), Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA), Energy Finite Element Analysis (EFEA), Hybrid Methods (FEM-SEA and Transfer Path Analysis), and Wave-Based Methods. The book also includes procedures for designing noise and vibration control treatments, optimizing structures for reduced vibration and noise, and estimating the uncertainties in analysis results. Written by several well-known authors, each chapter includes theoretical formulations, along with practical applications to actual structural-acoustic systems. Readers will learn how to use vibroacoustic analysis methods in product design and development; how to perform transient, frequency (deterministic and random), and statistical vibroacoustic analyses; and how to choose appropriate structural and acoustic computational methods for their applications. The book can be used as a general reference for practicing engineers, or as a text for a technical short course or graduate course.
