This is a requirement in order to effectively carry out the will and Word of God to the world at large. It was a pre-requisite for the disciples, before they were allowed to begin their mission work in sharing Christ with the world. The same applies to us. There are many who share and speak God’s Word without the lead of The Holy Spirit. The Question should be: is their mission work considered effective? The Holy Spirit and power of God, the free gift, the authority, and provider of every need, is our most important and vital need. To receive and resonate power, we must be connected to the power source and supplier of power. It is imperative for every believer to personally know, and recognize the voice of God. In addition, God must be allowed to lead and direct our every move. God should be included in every decision and aspect of our lives, and we should do nothing on our own accord. Do you really know The Lord today? Ask, and it shall be given unto you, seek, and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you! ...IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE REAL PEACE AND GOOD HEALTH, ESTABLISH THIS RELATIONSHIP & KEEP YOUR MIND ON JESUS....... .........Speak Holy Spirit.......

  • ISBN : 0804793107
  • Pages : 223 pages

Download or read book Tequila written by Marie Sarita Gaytán and published by Stanford University Press. This book was released on 2014-11-12 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “This fascinating, well-written book explores how tequila has come to symbolize what it means to be Mexican . . . A must read.” —Choice ¡Tequila! Distilling the Spirit of Mexico traces how and why tequila became Mexico’s national drink and symbol. Starting in Mexico’s colonial era and tracing the drink’s rise through the present day, Marie Sarita Gaytán reveals the formative roles played by some unlikely characters—such as the revolutionary Pancho Villa, who was himself a teetotaler. She also shows how tequila’s cultural status was shaped by US-Mexican relations, the tourism industry, shifting gender roles, technology, regulation, film, music, and literature. Like all stories about national symbols, the rise of tequila forms a complicated, unexpected, and poignant tale. By unraveling its inner workings, Gaytán encourages us to think critically about national symbols more generally—especially the ways they both reveal and conceal—to tell a story about a place, a culture, and a people. In many ways, the story of tequila is the story of Mexico.

Book A Spirit of Dialogue

Download or read book A Spirit of Dialogue written by Christopher N. Okonkwo and published by Univ. of Tennessee Press. This book was released on 2008 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A groundbreaking study, A Spirit of Dialogue examines through extensive, interdisciplinary research, theory, and close reading the intricate reconstructions, extensions, and resonances of the West African myth of spirit children, the "Born-to-Die," in contemporary African American neo-slave narratives. Arguing that the myth, called "Ogbañje" in Igbo language and "àbíkú" in Yoruba, has had over thirty years of uncharted presence in African American literature, Okonkwo advances a compelling case absent in extant scholarship. He traces Ogbañje/the Born-to-Die's appearance in African American texts to a convergence of factors. They include but are not limited to: the impact of Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart; the 1960s emergence of the contemporary neo-slave narrative; the 1960s and 1970s black consciousness/Black Power movement and the cultural agenda, gendered politics, and centripetal philosophy of the Black Arts movement's nationalist aesthetic; African American identity questions of the post-civil rights and the multicultural eras; and the thematic shifts, as well as the African diaspora orientation of African American fiction of the post-nationalist aesthetic period. A Spirit of Dialogue focuses on the sometimes neglected and understudied works of four canonical African American writers: Octavia E. Butler's Wild Seed and Mind of My Mind, Tananarive Due's The Between, John Edgar Wideman's The Cattle Killing, and Toni Morrison's Sula and Beloved. Okonkwo demonstrates persuasively how the mythic spirit child informs the content and form of these novels, offering Butler, Due, Wideman, and Morrison a non-occidental "code" by which to engage collectively with the various issues integral to the history experience of African-descended people. The paradigm functions, then, as the nexus of a life-affirmative dialogue among the six novels, as well as between them and other works of African religious and literary imagination, particularly Things Fall Apart and Ben Okri's The Famished Road.
