Approprier la grâce au Saint-Esprit ou la filiation adoptive au Père, plutôt que considérer la grâce et la filiation comme l'effet propre d'une personne divine, revient-il à minimiser la dimension personnelle de l'agir trinitaire ? L'appropriation d'un attribut essentiel à l'une des personnes de la Trinité a-t-elle un fondement en Dieu ou s'agit-il d'un jeu de l'esprit ? Le présent ouvrage, issu d'une thèse de doctorat soutenue à l'Université de Fribourg (Suisse), entend répondre à ces questions, souvent posées par la théologie contemporaine. Il étudie la manière dont la doctrine des appropriations a vu le jour au XIIe siècle pour aboutir à des synthèses théologiques au siècle suivant, en particulier celle de Thomas d'Aquin. L'enquête tâche de saisir la méthode appropriative, ses fondements et sa mise en oeuvre, afin de juger de sa pertinence. L'appropriation trinitaire rend compte en effet du langage de l'Ecriture et des Pères. A la manière d'un faisceau lumineux auxiliaire, elle permet de manifester les personnes divines à l'intelligence croyante, dans une approche contemplative du mystère de la Trinité.
