Book Multiscale Textile Preforms and Structures for Natural Fiber Composites

Download or read book Multiscale Textile Preforms and Structures for Natural Fiber Composites written by Mohamad Midani and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2023-07-10 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Textile reinforcement forms (preforms) play an important role in determining the properties of the final composite and product. The preform formation process provides precise control of the fiber architecture and orientation using a suitable textile manufacturing technique. While the techniques employed for preparing glass and carbon preforms are well-known, there is still a gap in understanding on how to prepare natural preforms for composite reinforcements. Multiscale Textile Preforms and Structures for Natural Fiber Composites will bridge this gap by presenting unified knowledge on the relevant preform preparation techniques and resulting fiber architectures. Emphasis is on the structural parameters of each preform and their effect on the final composite properties. This book assembles information and knowledge on natural fiber reinforcement forms, including conventional forms, such as spun yarn, woven, knitted, nonwoven, braided, and comingled. These are illustrated and classified into one-, two-, and three-dimensional reinforcements. This book also includes information on nonconventional preform formation techniques such as unidirectional tapes, pre-impregnated preforms, spread tows, and tailored fiber placement. Covers all relevant textile processing technology for natural fiber preforms Provides academic researchers with a better understanding of recent practices in preparing textile reinforcements for natural fiber composites Helps practitioners determine how to use natural fiber reinforcements in producing new sustainable and innovative composites

Book Mechanics of Textile and Laminated Composites

Download or read book Mechanics of Textile and Laminated Composites written by A. Bogdanovich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1996-08-31 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mechanics of Textile and Laminated Composites is in three parts. The first part (Chapters 1 and 2) covers the fundamental issues of 3-D theory of elasticity and presents the theory of elasticity of an anisotropic body with comprehensive analysis of its specific cases. The second part (Chapters 3-5) presents the theoretical and experimental characterization of the elastic properties of unidirectional, textile and layered composite materials. The final part (Chapters 6 and 7) addresses the problems of 3-D stress analysis in laminated and textile composite structures. Major emphasis is placed on textile composites, perhaps the most complex and at the same time most promising group of composite materials. One of the most important features of this book is that it provides accurate and efficient 3-D analysis of laminated and textile reinforced structures, using novel methods. It has become more and more evident in recent years that, in many practical design situations, such full-scale 3-D analyses are required. Researchers, designers and engineers working with composite materials and structures will find this book an invaluable addition to their libraries.
