Book A 500 Bar Gaseous Oxygen Impact Test Apparatus for Burn Out Testing of Oxygen Equipment

Download or read book A 500 Bar Gaseous Oxygen Impact Test Apparatus for Burn Out Testing of Oxygen Equipment written by C. Binder and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gaseous oxygen impacts may occur in high-pressure oxygen systems whenever oxygen equipment is pressurized too fast. This is one of the main causes of fires in such systems. Therefore, equipment for high-pressure oxygen that contains nonmetallic sealing materials should be tested for burn-out safety. This is required by numerous international standards such as ISO, CEN or national standards as DIN in Germany. Because of new technical developments in industrial uses of oxygen, higher operating pressures up to 500 bar are becoming more and more frequent. With regard to this need, a new 500 bar gaseous oxygen impact tester has been designed and built at the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin (Germany). This paper describes all elements of this test system. The most important element of this BAM test apparatus is a new hydraulically operated quick opening valve that meets all international standards. First experiences on performance and maintenance of the new test apparatus are given.

Book B 1 Oxygen Analyzer Operational Tests

Download or read book B 1 Oxygen Analyzer Operational Tests written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In January 1990, the 3-1 System Program Office and AFMC's Productivity, Reliability and Maintenance (PRAM) Office requested AFPTEF's assistance on testing a replacement oxygen analyzer. B-1 aircraft have an onboard generator which supplies oxygen for the crew. Field maintenance uses a current oxygen equipment tolerance. The existing oxygen analyzer currently exhibits high failure rates, an inability to measure flow, and requires complex mathematical calculations to determine readings. The Program and PRAM office contracted with Aeronautical Systems Center's Fabrication Facility at Wright-Patterson to develop a replacement that would be more user friendly for maintenance personnel. AFPTEF used its equipment to determine if the analyzer complies with military test transportation, handling and operational specification for lightweight equipment.

This document is intended to serve as a resource for the planning and provision of local and national oxygen concentrator systems for use by administrators clinicians and technicians who are interested in improving access to oxygen therapy and reducing global mortality associated with hypoxaemia.

Book A 6000 Psig Gaseous Oxygen Impact Test System for Materials and Components Compatibility Evaluations

Download or read book A 6000 Psig Gaseous Oxygen Impact Test System for Materials and Components Compatibility Evaluations written by WC. Hull and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last several years, the International Standards Organization (ISO) has developed standards which require pneumatic impact testing on valves, regulators, and other oxygen components used in Europe in medical, industrial, and commercial applications. The several standards involved all reference a test system designed by BAM and presented in ASTM STP 1267 by Binder, et. al. in their paper "A 500 BAR Gaseous Oxygen Impact Test Apparatus For Burn-Out Testing Of Oxygen Equipment." This paper discusses another gaseous oxygen impact test system designed to conform to the ISO standards, and presents its performance characteristics in pneumatic impact testing. This paper also discusses the value of a component test method and considers some of the critical parameters that should be maintained in order to produce consistent test results with different test systems.

Book Threshold Sensitivities of Tests to Detect Oil Film Contamination in Oxygen Equipment

Download or read book Threshold Sensitivities of Tests to Detect Oil Film Contamination in Oxygen Equipment written by JA. Gilbertson and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equipment and components for use in an oxygen service are required to be "clean" or "free from oil," as contamination by oil is believed to have been responsible for numerous incidents. In some specifications, cleanness is defined by stating the maximum allowable concentration in grams per square metre, but often the specification is qualitative. Four tests of cleanness are widely quoted; these are visual examination in white and in ultraviolet light, a wipe test, and a water break test. The threshold sensitivities of these four tests have been evaluated for six different hydrocarbon oils commonly used in the industry. The results of this limited project show that under the test conditions the order of increasing sensitivity was white light, ultraviolet (UV) light, modified wipe, and water break. Water break was 20 to 40 times more sensitive than the white light test. Considerable further investigation is recommended.

Book Continuous Functional Testing of Oxygen Breathing Equipment

Download or read book Continuous Functional Testing of Oxygen Breathing Equipment written by J. Ryan Neville and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method is described for the continuous functional testing of aviator's oxygen breathing equipment. By use of an oxygen detector that fits in the mask, recordings were made of changes in oxygen partial pressure in going from automix to 100% oxygen. The results obtained were compared with the expected change, and conclusions were drawn concerning the fit and functioning of the oxygen mask. The detector was also used to monitor the oxygen concentration delivered by the regulator and comparisons were made of several different types of oxygen regulators. This comparison showed a consistent difference between the A-14A and the D-2A oxygen regulators. The difference was such as to permit a longer oxygen duration with the A-14A as compared with the D-2A when used with an oxygen system which was otherwise the same. The results are discussed in terms of certain operational features of interest to both military and civilian flying personnel. (Author).
