Book excerpt: The unique Soul to Soul Connection and Communication experience presents a positive, mindful, and compelling personal and intercultural communication global paradigm moving forward in the twenty-first century. Communication expert Ruth Lindeck Forman takes the reader through enlightening and light-hearted conversations. Her anecdotes enhance, inspire, and uplift to promote well-being, civility, and inclusion. This reader-friendly journey is supported by science, woven with connections to nature, and covers socio-political issues such as racism and diversity. These ideas encourage compassion and understanding for the reader and others. Ruth declares each person has the sole right to define who they are. This is best defined by what is in one's heart and soul as a member of the human race. She also affirms each person has the right to live their dreams and they matter. Ruth reminds us how we can always choose to respond positively or negatively and sensitively or insensitively. Likewise, we choose to honor or dishonor ourselves and others. Our choices are a formative facet of our character and the energy we radiate. The four sections of the book include Soul to Soul Connection, Soul to Soul Communication, Soul to Soul Intercultural Communication, and Appendix. Soul to Soul Connection presents core jewels that consist of source-connection, the essence of each person, and how to connect to that within ourselves and hopefully all others. The hand-dome concept reveals why each person solely feels, thinks, acts, speaks, and writes as they do. This also fosters inclusion. A significant chapter "Personal Lenses" is devoted to a multitude of negative lenses that block your and other's ultimate well-being. You learn to how to engage the time-tested Identify, Block, Move, Delete, Replace (IBMDR) Technique that reduces or erases troublesome thoughts and replaces them with positive, inclusive, and uplifting views. The private and nonjudgmental Forman Approach to Identify Prejudice Within Ourselves raises awareness. So, you have to be aware to care, and if you care you are aware. Soul to Soul Communication focuses on forty communication topics that benefit personal and virtual communication. These offer insightful, powerful, and practical tools. When combined, integrated, and applied, they provide a thoughtful and comprehensive command of communication to precisely express the meaning and intention of your message. Soul to Soul Intercultural Communication presents an uplifting chapter "Embracing Diversity." Necessary nuances, cultural styles, tables, and numerous topics enlighten to bridge communication gaps. These elevate comfort, trust, understanding, and appreciation so more people are willing to reach out to each other. Appendix includes "Positive Solutions to Maintain Harmony," "Thank You," and "Author's Journey," in which Ruth shares her eighty years' life's journey and sixty years in the field of speech pathology and communication. Initially, she served patients in stroke rehabilitation. Later, as a Specialist in Personal and Intercultural Communication, she consulted with and lectured to individuals in varied walks of life and cultures. Overcoming medical challenges and sensitivities, she recounts adventuresome travels with husband Lee to thirty-five countries, and living among locals on the tiny, exotic Nevis-isle in the West Indies. Charming, engrossing stories of Nevis folks and fellow humanity highlight how they triumphed or serenely accepted their challenges. Appendix also offers "A Time to Pause and Reflect" that provides an opportunity after each chapter to integrate the information and create your personal transformative guide. For your pleasure, Photos Reflecting Selective Narratives; the broad, passionate, and thoughtful Epilogue; and References finalize your read. These pages empower you to value your ultimate best, foster healing to free your spirit, and champion self-worth and kindness. Comfort, joy, confidence, self-actualization, and community follow. The goal is to create a positive communication environment that invites others to enter and benefits you. As minor to major crises arise or days seem to unravel, Soul to Soul Connection and Communication serves as a valuable lifelong guide. Therefore, decency, gratitude, harmony, and inclusion are natural and positive consequences of a diverse human race whose members communicate comfortably, mindfully, and source-connected with each other.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Publishers Weekly Best Book in Religion 2020 Foreword Review's INDIES Book of the Year Award, Religion In Theological Territories, David Bentley Hart, one of America's most eminent contemporary writers on religion, reflects on the state of theology "at the borders" of other fields of discourse—metaphysics, philosophy of mind, science, the arts, ethics, and biblical hermeneutics in particular. The book advances many of Hart's larger theological projects, developing and deepening numerous dimensions of his previous work. Theological Territories constitutes something of a manifesto regarding the manner in which theology should engage other fields of concern and scholarship. The essays are divided into five sections on the nature of theology, the relations between theology and science, the connections between gospel and culture, literary representations of and engagements with transcendence, and the New Testament. Hart responds to influential books, theologians, philosophers, and poets, including Rowan Williams, Jean-Luc Marion, Tomáš Halík, Sergei Bulgakov, Jennifer Newsome Martin, and David Jones, among others. The twenty-six chapters are drawn from live addresses delivered in various settings. Most of the material has never been printed before, and those parts that have appear here in expanded form. Throughout, these essays show how Hart's mind works with the academic veneer of more formal pieces stripped away. The book will appeal to both academic and non-academic readers interested in the place of theology in the modern world.

  • Pages : 284 pages

Download or read book Soul Trains written by Larry Portis and published by Virtualbookworm Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soul Trains shows how the interaction of social classes and ethnic communities, and the growth of a music industry, created new music in the United States and Britain. A central question addressed is how popular perceptions of " authentic" musical expression are influenced by attempts to control or modify musical taste. The dynamic of musical innovation in capitalist society emerges from a process conditioned by historical events, language, and cultural traditions acting variously as forces for rebellion, resistance or reaction. This book avoids abstract language or jargon. It shows how popular musical culture cannot be understood apart from economic change and the evolution of social relationships. An excellent initiation to the history of popular music, it is especially recommended to the general reader and for use as an introductory text in the study of cultural and social change. A " people's history, " Soul Trains combines major contributions to scholarship in a singleparnorama of musical evolution related to the struggles of ordinary people.

Book Music Experiment and Mathematics in England 1653 705

Download or read book Music Experiment and Mathematics in England 1653 705 written by Benjamin Wardhaugh and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How, in 1705, was Thomas Salmon, a parson from Bedfordshire, able to persuade the Royal Society that a musical performance could constitute a scientific experiment? Or that the judgement of a musical audience could provide evidence for a mathematically precise theory of musical tuning? This book presents answers to these questions. It constitutes a general history of quantitative music theory in the late seventeenth century as well as a detailed study of one part of that history: namely the applications of mathematical and mechanical methods of understanding to music that were produced in England between 1653 and 1705, beginning with the responses to Descartes's 1650 Compendium music?and ending with the Philosophical Transactions' account of the appearance of Thomas Salmon at the Royal Society in 1705. The book is organized around four key questions. Do musical pitches form a small set or a continuous spectrum? Is there a single faculty of hearing which can account for musical sensation, or is more than one faculty at work? What is the role of harmony in the mechanical world, and where can its effects be found? And what is the relationship between musical theory and musical practice? These are questions which are raised and discussed in the sources themselves, and they have wide significance for early modern theories of knowledge and sensation more generally, as well as providing a fascinating side light onto the world of the scientific revolution.

Book Totalitarianism and Literary Discourse

Download or read book Totalitarianism and Literary Discourse written by Irma Ratiani and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2011-10-18 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collection Totalitarianism and Literary Discourse represents selected proceedings from the conference, Totalitarianism and Literary Discourse: 20th Century Experience, held in Tbilisi, Georgia, in October 2009. The Tbilisi conference pioneered scholarly inquiry into post-Soviet space, which evaluated political and cultural realia, emphasizing the challenges facing literature and culture in totalitarian strangleholds, various kinds of ideological diktat, their possible forms and consequences. The Soviet type of totalitarianism was especially accentuated. Decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, full comprehension of the process of Sovietization has become possible, and in the field of literary studies scholars have worked on a number of issues: assessing conceptual and motivational models of Soviet-period texts; demonstrating the reaction of literary discourse to intellectual terror and systematizing alternative models offered by anti-Soviet discourse; exhibiting the myths and stereotypes of the totalitarian epoch; and classifying literary genres. The collection Soviet Totalitarianism and Literary Discourse has gathered papers by scholars from almost all of the post-Soviet states, as well as of some other countries. It is a first attempt to solve the above-mentioned issues and offers a wide array of questions.
