Book excerpt: The properties of nuclear levels and transitions between them are not only important for nuclear physicists. The collective phenomena in nuclei are of general interest since they represent a many-body system with more then two particles, but much fewer then in condensed matter problems. However, the knowledge of properties of nuclei are equally relevant to applications in technology (e.g. transmutation of elements) or medicine and also to astrophysics. The present volume I / 18 A is the first of three volumes dedicated to the energy levels and structure of nuclei, covering the light nuclei with Z

Book Ternary Chalcopyrite Semiconductors Growth Electronic Properties and Applications

Download or read book Ternary Chalcopyrite Semiconductors Growth Electronic Properties and Applications written by J. L. Shay and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ternary Chalcopyrite Semiconductors: Growth, Electronic Properties, and Applications covers the developments of work in the I-III-VI2 and II-IV-V2 ternary chalcopyrite compounds. This book is composed of eight chapters that focus on the crystal growth, characterization, and applications of these compounds to optical communications systems. After briefly dealing with the status of ternary chalcopyrite compounds, this book goes on describing the crystal growth of II-IV-V2 and I-III-VI2 single crystals. Chapters 3 and 4 examine the energy band structure of these semiconductor compounds, illustrating that these compounds are the simplest ternary analogs of II-VI zincblende compounds. Chapter 5 discusses the spontaneous luminescence, stimulated emission and laser action, and light-emitting diodes employing ternary chalcopyrite compounds. Chapter 6 discusses some of the fundamental principles of nonlinear optical interactions and the properties of the chalcopyrite crystals. This text also highlights the nonlinear optical devices available. Chapter 7 describes the electrical properties of chalcopyrite crystals, whereas the concluding chapter deals with the other physical properties of these compounds, such as lattice vibrational spectra, optical activity, and linear thermal expansion. This book is of great value to researchers and workers in the semiconductor field.

Book Semiconductor Materials

Download or read book Semiconductor Materials written by Lev I. Berger and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-12-17 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Semiconductor Materials presents physico-chemical, electronic, electrical, elastic, mechanical, magnetic, optical, and other properties of a vast group of elemental, binary, and ternary inorganic semiconductors and their solid solutions. It also discusses the properties of organic semiconductors. Descriptions are given of the most commonly used semiconductor devices-charge-coupled devices, field-effect transistors, unijunction transistors, thyristors, Zener and avalanche diodes, and photodiodes and lasers. The current trend of transitioning from silicon technology to gallium arsenide technology in field-effect-based electronic devices is a special feature that is also covered. More than 300 figures and 100 tables highlight discussions in the text, and more than 2,000 references guide you to further sources on specific topics. Semiconductor Materials is a relatively compact book containing vast information on semiconductor material properties. Readers can compare results of the property measurements that have been reported by different authors and critically compare the data using the reference information contained in the book. Engineers who design and improve semiconductor devices, researchers in physics and chemistry, and students of materials science and electronics will find this a valuable guide.

Book Energy and Charge Transfer in Organic Semiconductors

Download or read book Energy and Charge Transfer in Organic Semiconductors written by Kohzoh Masuda and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Great progress has been made in the field of ordinary semiconductor physics and associated technologies. For the time being, if we could use new materials such as organic semiconductors progress in electronics could be accelerated. Characteristics of organic semiconductors that are superior to others are: i) high photo-conductivity under irradiation along with low leakage current in the dark, ii) high sensitivity of the conductivity to various gases and to pressure. iii) possibility of using them in the amorphous state, iv) possibility of making devices of extremely small size, v) large variety of the materials, which makes suitable choice of material component easy. A possible future development is a highly conductive material which could be used for electric power transmission - and which might help solve some of the problems posed by transmission losses. The U.S.-Japan Seminar on Energy and Charge Transfer in Organic Semiconductors was held in Osaka Japan, 6-9 August, 1973. Completed results were summarized and the direction for the future was discussed. Information was exchanged quite freely and actively in a pleasant atmosphere. Many of the papers presented at the seminar are published here but unfortunately a few could not be included. It would give us great pleasure if this seminar could be one step in the further development of the research in this field.

Book Electronic Processes in Organic Semiconductors

Download or read book Electronic Processes in Organic Semiconductors written by Anna Köhler and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-06-08 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first advanced textbook to provide a useful introduction in a brief, coherent and comprehensive way, with a focus on the fundamentals. After having read this book, students will be prepared to understand any of the many multi-authored books available in this field that discuss a particular aspect in more detail, and should also benefit from any of the textbooks in photochemistry or spectroscopy that concentrate on a particular mechanism. Based on a successful and well-proven lecture course given by one of the authors for many years, the book is clearly structured into four sections: electronic structure of organic semiconductors, charged and excited states in organic semiconductors, electronic and optical properties of organic semiconductors, and fundamentals of organic semiconductor devices.
