Download or read book Temple of the Sun and Moon written by Robin Fennelly and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-02-04 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Temple of the Sun and Moon provides the reader with the tools to achieve a deeper understanding of and connection to the Solar and Lunar energies. You will find some theory, but only just enough to whet your appetite for more. The majority of the teachings are offered through the tools of prose, poetry and pathworking as a way of creating a richer, more sensorial experience in developing a daily practice of luminous devotions. Part One begins with a simple pathworking of connection to Earth, our home in this greater Cosmos. Parts Two and Four explore the energy of the Sun and the Moon in their physical and spiritual forms. Parts Three and Five are poetic and prose renditions of devotionals that arose from experience, ritual, meditation and communion with the Sun and the Moon. Additionally there is exploration of the Sun and the Moon within the discipline of the Hermetic Qabalah.

Book excerpt: “Redolent of folklore . . . A sweet morality tale of cosmic misadventures and sibling rivalry” by the author of The Cloud Princess (Kirkus Reviews). The Sun and the Moon are sisters, and they rule and sky together peacefully. One day, however, each begins to wonder: who is more important? This friction leads them to make a powerful decision to switch roles, hoping that it will lead to a greater understanding of their powers. Soon, the Sun begins shining all through the night, and the Moon brings night to the day. In the end, the two sisters will learn an important lesson about the importance of harmony and the balance of their relationship. “This wonderful picture book evokes a sense of harmony through pictures and words inspired by a blend of modern and traditional Asian artwork and folklore. Earth tones juxtaposed with bursts of color in mixed media and watercolor create vibrant imagery that thoughtfully reflects nature and honors the spirit of multiculturalism . . . Audiences young and old will admire this wise and magical tale, whether it’s read aloud in a group or shared one-on-one at bedtime.” —School Library Journal “It is the illustrations that stand out, their jewel tones, elegant lines, and complex textures managing to look simultaneously contemporary and timeless.” —Kirkus Reviews

Book Following My Thumb

Download or read book Following My Thumb written by Gabriel Morris and published by John Hunt Publishing. This book was released on 2012-06-29 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following My Thumb follows the wandering, rambling, bumbling travels of Gabriel Morris from 1990-2000. In the summer of 1990, at the age of 18, he sets off to Europe with his over-sized backpack, thumb guiding the way. He hitchhikes the entire length of Great Britain, sleeps in barns, on bridges and beaches and under benches, explores the Greek Isles, sneaks into a Parisian movie theater, spends a night at the center of the Place de la Concorde roundabout, and more. In Part 2 of the book, he spends the bulk of the mid-1990s as a wandering traveler back home in the United States, searching for something elusive: a place to call home, a community, love, adventure, meaning, purpose. He both finds and loses all to varying degrees as he attends tribal Rainbow Gatherings in the woods, falls in and out of love on the road, lives on farms and communes, and spends several months in an idyllic valley, far from civilization in the Hawaiian rainforest. The book culminates with his amazing and thought-provoking travels in the mystical land of India. ,

  • Author : Irene Marsha Silverblatt
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press

Download or read book Moon Sun and Witches written by Irene Marsha Silverblatt and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2021-07-13 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the Spanish arrived in Peru in 1532, men of the Inca Umpire worshipped the Sun as Father and their dead kings as ancestor heroes, while women venerated the Moon and her daughters, the Inca queens, as founders of female dynasties. In the pre-Inca period such notions of parallel descent were expressions of complementarity between men and women. Examining the interplay between gender ideologies and political hierarchy, Irene Silverblatt shows how Inca rulers used their Sun and Moon traditions as methods of controlling women and the Andean peoples the Incas conquered. She then explores the process by which the Spaniards employed European male and female imageries to establish their own rule in Peru and to make new inroads on the power of native women, particularly poor peasant women. Harassed economically and abused sexually, Andean women fought back, earning in the process the Spaniards' condemnation as "witches." Fresh from the European witch hunts that damned women for susceptibility to heresy and diabolic influence, Spanish clerics were predisposed to charge politically disruptive poor women with witchcraft. Silverblatt shows that these very accusations provided women with an ideology of rebellion and a method for defending their culture.

Book excerpt: THIS BOOK REVEALS THE CONSPIRACY BY LEONARDO, NEWTON, GOETHE AND OTHER MEMBERS OF THE INITIATE TRADITION TO INFLUENCE THE COURSE OF HISTORY BY MAGIC. From the dawn of history and perhaps beyond a small group of magi working within a specific magical tradition have believed they have been influencing the course of history, guiding mankind towards higher levels of consciousness. Theirs is a reincarnationist philosophy and they believe that, as initiates of the highest order, they return in local groups at key moments to conspire to change the course of events. Whether or not their beliefs are right, whether or not their magical practices work in the way they believe, this book will prove that certain remarkable individuals, many of them famous in other areas, have undoubtedly held these beliefs. Bestsellers such as HOLY BLOOD, HOLY GRAIL and THE TOMB OF GOD have been written by amateur historians trying to penetrate the veil of secrecy that surrounds this conspiracy; here for the first time an initiate of the order reveals the truth.
