Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asians make up the largest and most dispersed peoples of the world, and Christians constitute a sizable proportion of this population. Asian Christians are likely to emigrate, and many have embraced Christian faith at their diasporic destinations. In light of these realities, the Asian Diaspora Christianity series charts the growing interconnections between the Diaspora Christian communities by providing a rich, multidisciplinary, and contemporary perspective on the globalization of Asian Christianity. This volume, the last in the Asian Diaspora Christianity series, brings together scholars of Asian background and a few others who are situated in diverse locations to draw insights on Christian ministry from a diasporic perspective. This volume pays special attention to the Asian diasporic experience in areas of theology and ministry. Issues of a practical nature, such as English-language worship, contextual leadership, and missionary training are included.

Book Field Guide to the Birds of East Asia

Download or read book Field Guide to the Birds of East Asia written by Mark Brazil and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-01-23 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first single volume guide ever devoted to the eastern Asian avifauna. The eastern Asian region, centring especially on the major islands off the continental coast (including Japan and Taiwan) and the immediately adjacent areas of the Asian continent from Kamchatka in the north and including the Korean Peninsula are an important centre of endemism. Birds endemic to this region include representatives of many of the major families, from the world's largest eagle - Steller's Sea Eagle - to the tiny Formosan Firecrest. The east Asian continental coast and the offshore islands also form one of the world's major international bird migration routes, especially for waterfowl, shorebirds and raptors, while the east Asian continental mainland itself is home to a wide range of species little known to western ornithologists such as Scaly-sided Merganser, Oriental Stork and Mugimaki Flycatcher. The guide features the most up-to-date text available, which, in conjunction with extensive colour plates throughout, facilitates the field identification of all of the species known from the region. Colour distribution maps enhance the text by providing a visual analysis of the summer, winter and migratory ranges of all species.

Book Coral Reefs of Eastern Asia under Anthropogenic Impacts

Download or read book Coral Reefs of Eastern Asia under Anthropogenic Impacts written by Ichiro Takeuchi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-24 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coral reefs, which are one of the most productive and biodiverse ecosystems on Earth, serve various important roles, such as providing shelter and spawning grounds to a wide range of marine animals. However, the global decline of hard corals in tropical and subtropical regions is a growing concern. A recent review of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicated that only 10%–30% of coral reefs would survive with an increase of 1.5 °C in global warming temperature. Of coral reefs around the world, the coral reefs in eastern Asia face one of the most industrially developed and high population areas in the world. Thus, coral reefs of eastern Asia have been affected by various anthropogenic factors, such as eutrophication, coastal development, anthropogenic pollutants, ocean acidification, disease, and overfishing. Therefore, urgent research is required to determine the levels at which different factors will affect coral health. Besides, we propose a perspective on coral reef (especially those in eastern Asia) conservation under climate change and various anthropogenic activities.
