Book Teachers Manual for the Public Schools of Puerto Rico Classic Reprint

Download or read book Teachers Manual for the Public Schools of Puerto Rico Classic Reprint written by Puerto Rico Insular Board of Education and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-07-05 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Teachers Manual For The Public Schools Of Puerto Rico The purpose of this Manual is to place in the hands of the teachers and school officials of this Island a brief account in Spanish of the educational thought and literature and of the system of school organization at present prevailing in the United States. Investigation showed that this could be done more economically through a publication issued by this office than by the translation of several already existing educational works. Of course such a compendium cannot be exhaustive. Many chapters are largely compilations. The educational literature and the official reports of the States and, to some extent, of Europe, have been drawn upon so far as they were available in the library hastily gathered together by this department during the last few months. Our indebtedness to these works is too broad to make practicable a special acknowledgment in each individual instance. Defects, omissions, and repetitions will doubtless appear even to the cursory reader. The book has been dictated with many interruptions, in the midst of the multitude of other office duties attending the reorganization of the school system of this Island. The publication of the book in New York city has rendered it impossible for us to revise the proofs. Literary features and finish have been subordinated to the urgent practical demands of the situation here. Book Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs Serving Children from Birth Through Age 8 Fourth Edition Fully Revised and Updated

Download or read book Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs Serving Children from Birth Through Age 8 Fourth Edition Fully Revised and Updated written by Naeyc and published by . This book was released on 2021-08 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The long-awaited new edition of NAEYC's book Developmentally Appropriate Practice in Early Childhood Programs is here, fully revised and updated! Since the first edition in 1987, it has been an essential resource for the early childhood education field. Early childhood educators have a professional responsibility to plan and implement intentional, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote the social and emotional development, physical development and health, cognitive development, and general learning competencies of each child served. But what is developmentally appropriate practice (DAP)? DAP is a framework designed to promote young children's optimal learning and development through a strengths-based approach to joyful, engaged learning. As educators make decisions to support each child's learning and development, they consider what they know about (1) commonality in children's development and learning, (2) each child as an individual (within the context of their family and community), and (3) everything discernible about the social and cultural contexts for each child, each educator, and the program as a whole. This latest edition of the book is fully revised to underscore the critical role social and cultural contexts play in child development and learning, including new research about implicit bias and teachers' own context and consideration of advances in neuroscience. Educators implement developmentally appropriate practice by recognizing the many assets all young children bring to the early learning program as individuals and as members of families and communities. They also develop an awareness of their own context. Building on each child's strengths, educators design and implement learning settings to help each child achieve their full potential across all domains of development and across all content areas.

Book The Battle for Paradise

Download or read book The Battle for Paradise written by Naomi Klein and published by Haymarket Books. This book was released on 2018-06-05 with total page 53 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fearless necessary reporting . . . Klein exposes the ‘battle of utopias’ that is currently unfolding in storm-ravaged Puerto Rico” (Junot Díaz, author of The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao) “We are in a fight for our lives. Hurricanes Irma and María unmasked the colonialism we face in Puerto Rico, and the inequality it fosters, creating a fierce humanitarian crisis. Now we must find a path forward to equality and sustainability, a path driven by communities, not investors. And this book explains, with careful and unbiased reporting, only the efforts of our community activists can answer the paramount question: What type of society do we want to become and who is Puerto Rico for?” —Carmen Yulín Cruz, Mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico In the rubble of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Ricans and ultrarich “Puertopians” are locked in a pitched struggle over how to remake the island. In this vital and startling investigation, bestselling author and activist Naomi Klein uncovers how the forces of shock politics and disaster capitalism seek to undermine the nation’s radical, resilient vision for a “just recovery.” All royalties from the sale of this book in English and Spanish go directly to JunteGente, a gathering of Puerto Rican organizations resisting disaster capitalism and advancing a fair and healthy recovery for their island. “Klein chronicles the extraordinary grassroots resistance by the Puerto Rican people against neoliberal privatization and Wall Street greed in the aftermath of the island’s financial meltdown, of hurricane devastation, and of Washington’s imposition of an outside control board over the most important U.S. colony.” —Juan González, cohost of Democracy Now! and author of Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in America
