Book excerpt: Human sexuality is a problematic thing. It gets us into trouble, breaks our hearts, involves us in painful compulsive relationships, even transmits deadly diseases. It would surely scare us off, if it were not for its siren call to higher forms of union and moments of bodily bliss. When examined more closely, however, and especially when we turn our gaze inward to see what sexual arousal is doing to our consciousness, we find we are in an altered state-a form of "erotic trance" that reveals dimensions of ourselves, our partner, and possibilities for human life that otherwise would not have been discovered. -- Procreative sex forms the foundation of the nuclear family and the glue that holds society together-what we might call the "horizontal" potential of sex. Tantra, however, is about its "vertical" dimension-about "tuning" our awareness to bring higher, spiritual realities into focus. It all begins by mastering our bodily reflexes. This first volume of Tantra and Erotic Trance deals with the preliminary stages of mastery and the transformations of consciousness that they make possible. The whole project is imagined as a ladder with its feet on the earth and its top leaning into Indra's heaven. Each rung represents a new level of awareness, a mastery of what just the rung below had appeared to us as a poorly understood gift.

Book COSMIC ENGINEERING AND ORGASMIC CONTINUUM New Age Tantra Series 1

Download or read book COSMIC ENGINEERING AND ORGASMIC CONTINUUM New Age Tantra Series 1 written by Arun and published by ArunsYoga. This book was released on 2021-07-26 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A BOOK FOR THOSE WHO ARE CURIOUS ABOUT TANTRA, ASTROLOGY, SELF HEALING AND THE DEEP NATURE OF ORGASM. A HANDBOOK FOR THOSE WHO PURSUE TANTRIC REALISATION AND PLANETARY RECREATION AS A MISSION OR A PROFESSION Cosmic Engineering And Orgasmic Continuum’ is the brainchild of Arun Webber, a software engineer and former student of Narayana Gurukulam from Bangalore. Arun is also the Founder of the popular websites: eduladder.com and arunsyoga.in. Born into a family that has passed tantric knowledge down from generation to generation, he compiled this book based on knowledge he gained whilst travelling across India, as well as talking to diverse people across the globe. The book is presented in the form of four dialogues with experts in their fields, namely Betsy B. Murphy, Dr Thomas, Ben Lawson, and Jem Ayres. It concludes with four examples of tantric meditation Techniques. The first dialogue with Dr Thomas, entitled, ‘Tantric Enlightenment In World Religions’ explores tantric influences on various philosophies, including historical materialism, and suggests Mary Magdalene was the tantric concert of Jesus. The second dialogue, with Betsy B Murphy, ‘Beyond Orgasm’, is also an open discussion. Betsy is a Hollywood filmmaker, born and raised in the States, who has received much acclaim for her book, “An Autobiography Of Orgasm”, which explores (tongue in cheek) how women are treated in the bedroom and why they resort to faking orgasms. Betsy has journeyed throughout India and Africa in search of orgasmic experiences and she shares her insights here into what is beyond orgasm and how one can achieve this. The third discussion is with Ben Lawson, a tantric adult filim maker and a feminist sex worker. Ben’s work is motivated by his frustration with how modern day adult movies present human beings as preverts in their bedroom practices, often ending with rape on their counterparts. In this chapter, the discussion examines the feminine-oriented worshipping yantra – ‘kali yantra’ – and what it symbolises and Represents. The book’s final discussion is with Jem Ayres – a sex coach based in the UK. Jem describes how she miraculously healed her body of lung cancer using the power of tantra. The final section of the book outlines four tantric meditation techniques that can be used in everyday life for empowerment and healing. Throughout the book, there are beautiful images of philosophers, various meditation techniques and a variety of tantric symbols, such as the biblical interpretations of the seed of life, the flower of life and the three dimensional kali yantra. It aims to offer a subjective, existential meaning to enhance the depth of it’s reader’s life. While using this book as a guide for your Tantric expedition, always remember. “If you know That, you don’t have to seek! If you don’t know That, then you don’t know what to seek!! If you think you know That, then you actually don’t know That!!!” -Isavasya Upanishad

Book The Dream and Its Amplification

Download or read book The Dream and Its Amplification written by Nancy Swift Furlotti and published by Fisher King Press. This book was released on 2013 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'The Dream and Its Amplification' unveils the language of the psyche that speaks to us in our dreams. We all dream at least 4-6 times each night yet remember very few. Those that rise to the surface of our conscious awareness beckon to be understood, like a letter addressed to us that arrives by post. Why would we not open it? The difficulty is in understanding what the dream symbols and images mean. Through amplification, C. G. Jung formulated a method of unveiling the deeper meaning of symbolic images. This becomes particularly important when the image does not carry a personal meaning or significance and is not part of a person's everyday life. Fourteen Jungian Analysts from around the world have contributed chapters to this book on areas of special interest to them in their work with dreams. This offers the seasoned dream worker as well as the novice great insight into the meaning of the dream and its amplification. Contributors to this edition of the Fisher King Review include: Erel Shalit, Nancy Swift Furlotti, Thomas Singer, Michael Conforti, Ken Kimmel, Gotthilf Isler, Nancy Qualls-Corbett, Henry Abramovitch, Kathryn Madden, Ron Schenk, Naomi Ruth Lowinsky, Christian Gaillard, Monika Wikman, and Gilda Frantz.

Book Divine Madness

Download or read book Divine Madness written by John R. Haule and published by Fisher King Press. This book was released on 2010-03 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Divine Madness: Archetypes of Romantic Love' examines the transforming experience of romantic love in literature, myth, religion, and everyday life. A series of psychological meditations on the nature of romantic love and human relationship, Divine Madness takes the perspective that human love is a species of divine love and that our experience of romantic love both conceals and reveals the ultimate Lover and Beloved. John Haule draws on depth psychology, the mystical traditions of the world, and literature from Virgil to Milan Kundera to lead the reader inside the mind and heart of the lover. Each chapter explores a characteristic aspect of relationship, such as seduction and love play, the rapture of union, the agony of separation, madness, woundedness, and transcendence. Focusing on the soulful and spiritual meaning of these experiences, Divine Madness sheds light on our elations, obsessions, and broken hearts, but it also reconnects us with the wisdom of time immemorial. As a practicing Jungian analyst and former professor of religious studies, John Haule masterfully guides his readers through the labyrinth of everyday experience, and the often hidden layers of archetypal realities, sketching a philosophy of romantic love through the stories of the world's literature and mythology.

Book Tantra in Practice

    Book Details:
  • Author : David Gordon White
  • Publisher : Princeton University Press
  • Release : 2018-06-26
  • ISBN : 0691190453
  • Pages : 661 pages

Download or read book Tantra in Practice written by David Gordon White and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As David White explains in the Introduction to Tantra in Practice, Tantra is an Asian body of beliefs and practices that seeks to channel the divine energy that grounds the universe, in creative and liberating ways. The subsequent chapters reflect the wide geographical and temporal scope of Tantra by examining thirty-six texts from China, India, Japan, Nepal, and Tibet, ranging from the seventh century to the present day, and representing the full range of Tantric experience--Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, and even Islamic. Each text has been chosen and translated, often for the first time, by an international expert in the field who also provides detailed background material. Students of Asian religions and general readers alike will find the book rich and informative. The book includes plays, transcribed interviews, poetry, parodies, inscriptions, instructional texts, scriptures, philosophical conjectures, dreams, and astronomical speculations, each text illustrating one of the diverse traditions and practices of Tantra. Thus, the nineteenth-century Indian Buddhist Garland of Gems, a series of songs, warns against the illusion of appearance by referring to bees, yogurt, and the fire of Malaya Mountain; while fourteenth-century Chinese Buddhist manuscripts detail how to prosper through the Seven Stars of the Northern Dipper by burning incense, making offerings to scriptures, and chanting incantations. In a transcribed conversation, a modern Hindu priest in Bengal candidly explains how he serves the black Goddess Kali and feeds temple skulls lentils, wine, or rice; a seventeenth-century Nepalese Hindu praise-poem hammered into the golden doors to the temple of the Goddess Taleju lists a king's faults and begs her forgiveness and grace. An introduction accompanies each text, identifying its period and genre, discussing the history and influence of the work, and identifying points of particular interest or difficulty. The first book to bring together texts from the entire range of Tantric phenomena, Tantra in Practice continues the Princeton Readings in Religions series. The breadth of work included, geographic areas spanned, and expert scholarship highlighting each piece serve to expand our understanding of what it means to practice Tantra.

Book The Dream The Vision of the Night

Download or read book The Dream The Vision of the Night written by Max Zeller and published by Fisher King Press. This book was released on 2015-06-01 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A classic in the field of dream analysis, The Dream: The Vision of the Night is a collection of essays, lectures, and vignettes by Max Zeller whose career included a law degree, a brief imprisonment in a Nazi Concentration Camp, study at the Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland, and thirty years of in-depth work as a Jungian analyst. In the eighteen pieces of this collection, Zeller intersperses theoretical writings, compassionate and incisive case studies, and powerful, almost haiku-like reminiscences of certain incidences in his life, from his meetings with C.G. Jung to his impressions of life in pre-war Nazi Germany. The Dream: The Vision of the Night is the best example of amplification of Jungian principles that can be found. Neither pure research nor pure memoir, the collection is an affective combination of both, and as such best portrays the spirit of its author: always restless and searching, always compassionate and open-minded, and above all, always fascinated by the mystery and power of our dreams.

Book Sir John Woodroffe Tantra and Bengal

Download or read book Sir John Woodroffe Tantra and Bengal written by Kathleen Taylor and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working with Bengali mentors, especially his close friend A. B. Ghose, Sir John Woodroffe became the pseudonymous orientalist Arthur Avalon, famous for his tantric studies at the beginning of the twentieth century. Best known for The Serpent Power, the book which introduced 'Kundalini Yoga' to the western world, Avalon turned the image of Tantra around, from that of a despised magical and orgiastic cult into a refined philosophy which greatly enhanced the prestige of Hindu thought to later generations of westerners. This biographical study is in two parts. The first focuses on Woodroffe's social identity in Calcutta against the background of colonialism and nationalism - the context in which he 'was' Arthur Avalon. To a very unusual degree for someone with a high position under the empire, Woodroffe the British High Court Judge absorbed the world of the Bengali intellectuals of his time, among whom his popularity was widely attested. His admirers were attracted by his Indian nationalism, to which his tantric studies and supposed learning formed an important adjunct. Woodroffe's friend Ghose, however, was the chief source of the textual knowledge in which the 'orientalist' scholar appeared to be deeply versed. The second part of this study assesses Woodroffe's own relationship to Sanskrit and to the texts, and highlights his very extensive but gifted use of secondary sources and the knowledge of Ghose and other Indian people. It examines the apologetic themes by which he and his collaborators made Tantra first acceptable, then fashionable. Partly because of his mysterious pseudonym, Woodroffe acquired a near legendary status for a time, and remains a fascinating figure. This book is written in a style that should appeal to the general reader as well as to students of Indian religions and early twentieth century Indian history, while being relevant to the ongoing debate about 'orientalism'.

Book Sexuality and Eroticism in a Post pandemic World

Download or read book Sexuality and Eroticism in a Post pandemic World written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2023-09-20 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cultural change denominated as “the new normal” goes far beyond the adaptation to habits like physical distancing, limited person-to-person contact, teleworking, and self-isolation established with the COVID-19 pandemic. A series of significant transformations in human behavior spreads today in societies all around the world: physical intimacy decreases while virtual reality expands and alterity declines while artificial intelligence emerges, leading to structural reconfigurations of sex, relationships, gender awareness, and subjectivity. Sexuality and Eroticism in a Post-pandemic World explores this new cultural atmosphere through twelve interdisciplinary essays questioning global governmentality and challenging the biopolitics of the new normal—the administration of self-control societies so politically correct that repressed desire for otherness only finds a simulation of its satisfaction with the forced abnormality, outrageousness, and violence of mainstream porn—, going from ars erotica to alternative pornography, from online dating to gender fluidity, from LGBTQI+ artivism to sex life cultivation, and more.

Download or read book The Orphan written by Audrey Punnett and published by Fisher King Press. This book was released on 2014-06-21 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Orphan: A Journey to Wholeness addresses loneliness and the feeling of being alone in the world, two distinct characteristics that mark the life of an orphan. Regardless if we have grown up with or without parents, we are all too likely to meet such experiences in ourselves and in our daily encounters with others. With numerous case examples, Dr. Punnett describes how loneliness and the feeling of being alone tend to be repeated in later relationships and may eventually lead to states of anxiety and depression. The main purpose of this book is not to just stay within the context of the literal orphan, but also to explore its symbolic dimensions in order to provide meaning to the diverse experiences of feeling alone in the world. In accepting the orphan within, we begin to take responsibility for our own unique life journey, a privileged journey in which one can at some point in time say with pride, I am an orphan.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: C.G. Jung emphasized the deep link to the physical world that exists for the collective unconscious and its archetypes. Our dreams and symbols, as well as the patterns of our behavior, are shaped by the fact that we are creatures of a material universe. Michael Conforti's research has been directed to understanding the nature of these links and patterns in the light of the new sciences-quantum theory, chaos theory, self-organization, and the new biology. Conforti's book successfully integrates this material to offer a new, exciting challenge to psychotherapy. It demonstrates that the study of consciousness cannot neglect the insights of the sciences and in doing so promises a unified view of mind and matter.

Book The Rabbi the Goddess and Jung

Download or read book The Rabbi the Goddess and Jung written by Naomi Ruth Lowinsky and published by Fisher King Press. This book was released on 2016-11-01 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sanctuary for the soul—In The Rabbi, the Goddess, and Jung, Naomi Ruth Lowinsky shows us how to create a sacred space by cultivating one’s inner life. Admitting that this is not an easy practice in our hectic, fearful times, she demonstrates how the word from within orients—whether it comes as gift or disturbance, guest or ghost, riddle or revelation. It may force a confrontation with one’s worst fears. It may visit in nightmare images, such as the enormous spider with hairy legs and eight baleful eyes that appeared in a dream, come to warn, it would seem, of the perils facing human nature and Mother Nature. It is essential, especially in difficult times, to make space for what the Kabbalah calls “the beyond that lies within”—the still small voice of the Self, the long view of the wisdom traditions. In this collection of poetic, visionary essays, Lowinsky tells stories of the Lady Tree who showed up when she was six, and has wandered in and out of her life, revealing her Goddess nature. Active imagination enables her to work out unfinished business with ancestors including her father and Jung. Dreams introduce her to her spirit guides, and to a dancing rabbi who insists she study Kabbalah. And that scary spider turns out to be Grandmother Spider, a creator goddess who has the power, if we recognize Her, to help us reweave our relationship with earth.
