Book From Dangast to Colorado Springs

Download or read book From Dangast to Colorado Springs written by Gert Gröning and published by Akademische Verlagsgemeinschaft München AVM. This book was released on 2016-08-03 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Irma Franzen-Heinrichsdorff was a 20th century landscape architect, who was not widely known in Germany. Her creative horticultural work included not least her impressive "landscape ideas" for private gardens, some of which are presented and paid tribute to here for the first time. In this book, Franzen-Heinrichsdorff's remarkable biography is traced using information from previously untapped sources. Franzen-Heinrichsdorff studied at the horticultural institute "Lehr- und Forschungsanstalt für Gartenbau" in Berlin-Dahlem and became the first woman to gain the qualification of "Staatlich diplomierte Gartenbauinspektorin", i. e. horticultural inspector, in the subject of landscape gardening. She thereby attained the highest academic honour there was in this profession at the time. Influenced by expressionism and with an interest in music and dance, the accomplished illustrator and designer had a promising career as a landscape architect ahead of her. Rather than marrying the distinguished solo flutist Alfred Tibursky, the father of her two children, she tied the knot with landscape architect Gustav Heinrichsdorff, only to divorce him several years later. Family-related and professional difficulties forced Franzen-Heinrichsdorff to give up her career, and she went on to run a children's home in the North Sea resort of Dangast for twenty years instead. Undeterred by intermittent harassment from National Socialists, she also cared for three foster children there over the years. It was not until later in life that she had the opportunity to work as a landscape architect once again in Colorado Springs in the United States of America; two of her former foster children and her son were instrumental in paving the way for her.

Book excerpt: BAHKRUUNE means to revert with a duel purpose. The rune is old Norse meaning, return ill will to the originator. I hope you will understand by the time you finished reading my autobiography of my life and will understand why I chose to use the rune and the name of my own design for the intent of insight and understanding of the choices that are given to us and how and why to that which affects us and others around us. Only an Earl of Norway from a Noble inheritance or birthright can enact BloodEagle on it's Subjects given the severity of the wrongful actions against its victims. Should the punished scream before the ritual of BloodEagle is finished, Odin will deny the right of passage to the halls of Valhalla. Had my heart been poisonous in the form of Vengeance and Hatred and if it were up to me and if I was a Earl of Norway, I would enact such measures of BloodEagle on my adopted parents given the severity of their actions towards me to where the punishment is equal to how I have felt for the last 26 years of my life. The Super Nova that is inside my heart that has been boiling is currently being held at bay of my own free will knowing the choices that can be given from the premeditated offensive actions that can cause and effect that is around me most inflicting what I care about the most, for which I cannot allow. Book Stranger on a Train

Download or read book Stranger on a Train written by Jenny Diski and published by Picador. This book was released on 2013-09-17 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book about America de Tocqueville might have written had he spent some time in the nation's smoking sections Using two cross-country trips on Amtrak as her narrative vehicles, British writer Jenny Diski connects the humming rails taking her into the heart of America with the track-like scars leading back to her own past. As she did in the highly acclaimed Skating to Antarctica, Diski has created a seamless and seemingly effortless amalgam of reflection and revelation. Stranger on a Train is a combination of travelogue and memoir, a penetrating portrait of America and Americans that is at the same time an unsparing look in the mirror. Traveling and remembering both involve confronting strangers—those we have just met and those we once were—and acknowledging the play of proximity and separation. Diski has written a moving, courageous, and deeply rewarding book about who we are, and the landscapes through which we have passed to get there.
