Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David Bosch (1929-1992) was one of the foremost mission theologians of the twentieth century; a prolific scholar, committed church leader and active participant in the global conciliar and evangelical mission movements. His distinctive role in the South African church's struggle against apartheid is less well known, however. After reviewing Bosch's background and exploring key themes in his understanding of mission and evangelism, Livingston explores Bosch's legacy from the perspective of the missionary nature of the church. The church is God's kingdom community, acting as a witness to and instrument of the coming reign of God. The church is God's alternative community, simultaneously set apart from the world but also existing for the sake of the world, exemplifying the radical implications of Christ's new community. It is also God's reconciled and reconciling community, serving as a sign and embodiment of God's love in Christ. For those acquainted with Bosch only as the author of his magisterial Transforming Mission, A Missiology of the Road shows how Bosch integrated his theology and practice in a faithful, contextually relevant way within South Africa and the global church.

Book God s Intelligent Design for Planet Earth

Download or read book God s Intelligent Design for Planet Earth written by Mike Morra and published by Author House. This book was released on 2013-12 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about God the Creator of all; from nothingness to beyond the Multiverse, from cosmic darkness to spiritual light, while surrounding all of His Creation with universal beauty. Godless scholars claim their discoveries as the engine of historic progress, but in truth it has been the Divine revelation of ideas that have propelled the evolution of Mankind. Often, we are discovering that the greatest of human genius has been wrong in their attempts to explain the physical basics of existence. Likewise, their vision of the natural world and the course of cultural/spiritual advancement have been flawed. Albert Einstein's theories were wrong. Even he admitted that his universal constant that attempted to describe the mechanics of Outer Space was a colossal miscalculation. The philosophies of the most noteworthy of Greek intellectuals, Aristotle, Socrates, and Plato, widely taught today in academia as the pathway to truth, have failed to anticipate the Mosaic, Moral Order and God's personal relationship with each human soul. Nobel Prize winner Linus Pauling proposed a triple-helix for the DNA and he was proven wrong. Along with, the mathematical limitations posed by Isaac Newton and Rene Descartes. Galileo's science, atomic theory, quantum physics, string theory, Darwin's biology, Freud's account of the psyche, and many other intellectual gaffes made throughout the Eras have been proven erroneous and/or partial truths. Has the acquisition of knowledge been a continuous, rational phenomenon leading to truth? Or, will godless reasoning always be imperfect to grasp the Divine complexities of the cosmos? Why can't rational mathematics explain the irrational numbers, such as the Fibonacci series, the Golden Proportion, and the triangular ratios of sine, cosine, and hypotenuse? Has God's wisdom been revealing to scholars the rudiments of His Creation throughout the Eras or have the godless, arrogant intellectuals been discovering the created fundamentals of the cosmos, as revealed through time by a Higher Power? Has the issuing of the Nobel Prize been sacrosanct or simply the rewarding of scientific mistakes and limitations via political/cultural correctness? Only God and the message of Jesus have perfectly survived to inspire the ideational and spiritual Ages.

This book was released on 2014-04-10 with total page 725 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gospel Among the Nations brings together in a single volume the most important primary documents illustrating how Christians have dealt with the most fundamental issue of the churchs mission: how to translate the gospel in new cultural settings. The texts range from Pope Gregorys famous instructions to Augustine of Canterbury on his mission to England, to W. E. Hockings fateful ""Attitudes toward People of Other Faiths.""
Beginning with a masterful introduction to the theme, Robert Hunt assembles scores of texts that reveal the way that missionaries, church leaders, and local Christians have contributed to the extension of Christianity over two millennia, and thus made it truly a world religion. The Gospel Among the Nations is an essential resource for students, researchers and practitioners in world Christian history and mission studies.

In "Real Life Christianity: 7 Basic Principles for Successful Christian Living," author Alan Kelly helps both kinds of readers see that with the right guide, it is not hard to bring our faith into our daily lives. Beginning with a solid foundation of who God is and who we are, "Real Life Christianity" then demonstrates what went wrong in our relationship with God and what God has done to redeem us. With these principles in place, Alan moves on to show in simple terms how God has planned for us to live a successful life by changing the way we think. This daily process of applying what we learn in the Bible to the routines and events of our real lives helps us to go from just surviving to flourishing, from living a hectic and harried life to living the abundant and prosperous life God promised in his word.

Book Christian Marriage Family Life

Download or read book Christian Marriage Family Life written by J.O.Y Aladetan and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2013-07-16 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world today is grappling with the consequences of faulty family values practised by past generations. God cherishes the family unit, but modern civilisation, especially in the West, has gradually defiled the institution of marriage and encouraged divorce and single parenting. This has decreased respect in the home and driven God out of classrooms, removing Gods word from school curricula. The shocking result is a moral vacuum and the breakdown of law and order in many ramifications. This unfortunate situation calls for the writing of a book like this to rescue Christian families from a downward slide. J.O.Y Aladetans book, Christian Marriage and Family Life, addresses a relevant problem, gives useful and pragmatic suggestions, and provides delightful scriptural information to help married and unmarried persons alike in their desire for instruction about Christian families. I pray that this book will serve as a tool to protect the institution of marriage and Christian families and that it will promote and enlarge the kingdom of God. Book Psalms

  • Author : James Luther Mays
  • Publisher : Westminster John Knox Press
  • Release : 2011-01-01
  • ISBN : 0664234399
  • Pages : 477 pages

Download or read book Psalms written by James Luther Mays and published by Westminster John Knox Press. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Psalms have a double identity. They are scripture and liturgy. They compose a book of the Bible and are found in our hymnals and books of worship and prayer. When we think of them in historical perspective, another identity emerges. They are the liturgical poetry of ancient Israel, texts with a history of composition and use before they became scripture. A commentary in this Interpretation series needs to keep all three identities in view. That puts some strain on the commentator's task. The attempt to interpret the Psalms in awareness of the depth in their identity explains some things about the commentary and its writing. - Preface.

Download or read book The Unholy Union written by Al Hamilton and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006-07 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a compilation of class lectures and messages dealing with the observation that the author has had in work with persecuted churches from Sudan, Africa to Bangladesh. I have traveled to 30 countries and helped recruit missionaries for Africa, Asia, Papua New Guinea and many countries on all Continents. The views expressed in these compiled articles are presented with frequent repetition for the sake of emphasis for young students who seek to get 'another' view of education, cultures and Biblical mission perspectives, than what might be provided in the religious circles in America today.
