Cavineña belongs to the small Tacana family together with four other languages (Araona, Ese Ejja, Reyesano and Tacana) and is possibly related (according to some claims) to the larger family of Pano languages. Very little is known of Cavineña and any other Tacana languages. This dissertation is the first full-length grammar of a language from this family.
