Download or read book T rkiye de ve D nyada Vicdani Ret written by Barış Esmer and published by Propaganda Yayınları. This book was released on 2012 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Barış Esmer’in çalışması bu hataya düşmüyor. Meselenin politik inceliğini ve tarihsel karmaşasını düzenli bir şekilde okura aktarıyor. Bunu yaparken de bir sosyal bilimciden beklenecek titizliği azami derecede gösteriyor.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of security has traditionally referred to the status of sovereign states in a closed international system. In this system the state is assumed to be both the object of security and the primary provider of security. Threats to the state's security are understood as threats to its political autonomy in the system. The major international institutions that emerged after the Second World War were built around this idea. When the founders of the United Nations spoke of collective security, they were referring primarily to state security and to the coordinated system that would be necessary in order to avoid the 'scourge of war'. But today, a wide range of security threats, both new and traditional, confront Europe, or at least as some would say.

Book The Sharafnama Or The History of the Kurdish Nation 1597

Download or read book The Sharafnama Or The History of the Kurdish Nation 1597 written by Sharaf Khān Bidlīsī and published by Mazda Publishers. This book was released on 2005 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the pages of the Sharafnama are present the Kurdish nation, already unified 400 years ago within a common culture, national ethos, a defined homeland and an integrated history stretching into antiquity. In the text of this unique history the empires of the Kurds parallel those of the Arabs, Persians and Turks, some, according to Bitlisi, reaching back over 4,000 years. As the Kurds continue their arduous journey to regain their proper position as the fourth largest ethnic group in the greater Middle East, it is clear why the Sharafnama has gained the status of a national document and the locus classicus of Kurdish authenticity. The great prestige of the Sharafnama as a national history among the Kurdish literati and rulers has lasted for centuries. To gain the honor of being mentioned in the Sharafnama enticed later Kurdish dynasties to shuffle their own dynastic history into the pages of the book long after Bitlisi's death. Meanwhile, due to the pristine condition of its surviving manuscripts, the Sharafnama has and continues to serve as a primary resource to compare and correct the scribal errors found in other histories written in Persian language before 1597. The Sharafnama also contains invaluable information on the Kurds' neighboring peoples and dynasties who interacted with the Kurds, as well as the empires that emerged and weathered in the area."

Book Conscientious Objection

Download or read book Conscientious Objection written by Özgür Heval Çinar and published by Zed Books. This book was released on 2009-04-09 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Refusing to take part in war is as old as war itself. This wide-ranging and original book brings together four different bodies of knowledge to examine the practice of conscientious objection: historical and philosophical analyses of conscientious objection as a critique of compulsory military service and militarization; feminist, LGBT and queer analyses of conscientious objection as a critique of patriarchy, sexism, and heterosexism; activist and academic analyses of conscientious objection as a social movement and individual act of resistance; legal analyses of the status of conscientious objection in international and national law. Conscientious objection is an increasingly important subject of academic and political debate in countries including the US, Israel and Turkey. This book provides a much needed introduction and tool for making sense of the history of nation-states in the 20th century and understanding the political developments of the early 21st century.

Book Coming Home to Yourself

Download or read book Coming Home to Yourself written by Osho and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2020-04-28 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A beautifully illustrated collection of mindfulness exercises for grounding, relaxation, and finding inner peace, from contemporary mystic Osho All of us have experienced moments of "coming home"--feeling relaxed, grounded, free of the restlessness that characterizes so much of our everyday lives. These moments can arise in nature or in the depths of an activity we enjoy, alone or together with people we love. They show us that we are exactly where we are supposed to be. The meditations in Coming Home to Yourself were selected from Osho's hundreds of public talks and intimate conversations. These passages are designed to be a companion on the journey toward transforming our rare moments of "at-home-ness" into an undercurrent that permeates all aspects of our lives. They offer guidance about meditation and specific techniques to try, insights into the habits that keep us tense and conflicted, and what life might look like if we recognize those habits and let them go. Exercises include activating your awareness, opening the heart, learning to relax and concentrate in order to reap the benefits of meditation, and freeing the brain from mental blocks. Featuring whimsical full color illustrations throughout, Coming Home to Yourself invites the reader to dip into the meditations at any point or read the book in sequence for a true homecoming experience.

Book Communication in Peace Conflict in Communication

Download or read book Communication in Peace Conflict in Communication written by Tuğrul İlter and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Peace and Conflict are commonly understood as polar opposites. In a polarised opposition there is no place for conflict in peace, and peace, the privileged term of the binary opposition, needs to be pure and homogeneous, cleansed of any unlicensed differences and contradictions. Yet, a radically plural and demo-cratic politic must harbour conflicting and antagonistic views of things; opposition is internal to it; and its view of freedom says that "freedom is always the freedom of those who think differently". In contrast, the ideal of a homogeneous, self--same, indivisibly unified society is totalitarian and repressive of the very differenc-es that make a society, any society, possible. The ocgaErtizers of the 2nd International Conference on Communication and Media Studies at Eastern Mediterranean. University, 2-4 May 2007, thought that a deconstructive and feminist framework that destabilises the entrenched certain-ties of polar oppositions and an ethical response to the irreducible otherness of the other, as well as to one's own alterity, would be very appropriate and relevant in our times for rethinking these issues, and relied on that framework in formulat-ing the theme of the conference as "Communication in Peace/Conflict in Communication" to emphasise the interrelationship of the two parts separated by the slash, as well as the formulation of the subtopics that were listed in the call for papers. This volume includes work from around the world that responded to that call.
