Download or read book Spatiotemporal Modeling of Stem Cell Differentiation written by William E. Schiesser and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-09-07 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spatiotemporal Modeling of Stem Cell Differentiation: Partial Differentiation Equation Analysis in R covers topics surrounding how stem cells evolve into specialized cells during tissue formation and in diseased tissue regeneration. As the process of stem cell differentiation occurs in space and time, the mathematical modeling of spatiotemporal development is expressed in this book as systems of partial differential equations (PDEs). In addition, the book explores important feature of six PDE model which can represent, for example, the development of tissue in organs. In addition, the book covers the computer-based implementation of example models through routines coded (programmed) in R. The routines described in the book are available from a download link so that example models can be executed without having to first study numerical methods and computer coding. The routines can then be applied to variations and extensions of the stem differentiation models, such as changes in the PDE parameters (constants) and the form of the model equations. - Includes PDE routines based on the method of lines (MOL) for computer-based implementation of PDE models - Offers transportable computer source codes for readers in R, with line-by-line code descriptions for mathematical models and algorithms - Authored by a leading researcher and educator in PDE models
Download or read book Dynamic Modeling of Transport Process Systems written by C. A. Silebi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a methodology for the development and computer implementation of dynamic models for transport process systems. Rather than developing the general equations of transport phenomena, it develops the equations required specifically for each new example application. These equations are generally of two types: ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and partial differential equations (PDEs) for which time is an independent variable. The computer-based methodology presented is general purpose and can be applied to most applications requiring the numerical integration of initial-value ODEs/PDEs. A set of approximately two hundred applications of ODEs and PDEs developed by the authors are listed in Appendix 8.

Download or read book Advances in Signal Transforms written by Jaakko Astola and published by Hindawi Publishing Corporation. This book was released on 2007 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Digital signal transforms are of a fundamental value in digital signal and image processing. Their role is manifold. Transforms selected appropriately enable substantial compressing signals and images for storage and transmission. No signal recovery, image reconstruction and restoration task can be efficiently solved without using digital signal transforms. Transforms are successfully used for logic design and digital data encryption. Fast transforms are the main tools for acceleration of computations in digital signal and image processing. The volume collects in one book most recent developments in the theory and practice of the design and usage of transforms in digital signal and image processing. It emerged from the series of reports published by Tampere International Centre for Signal Processing, Tampere University of Technology. For the volume, all contributions are appropriately updated to represent the state of the art in the field and to cover the most recent developments in different aspects of the theory and applications of transforms. The book consists of two parts that represent two major directions in the field: development of new transforms and development of transform based signal and image processing algorithms. The first part contains four chapters devoted to recent advances in transforms for image compression and switching and logic design and to new fast transforms for digital holography and tomography. In the second part, advanced transform based signal and image algorithms are considered: signal and image local adaptive restoration methods and two complementing families of signal and image re-sampling algorithms, fast transform based discrete sinc-interpolation and spline theory based ones."--Publisher.

This book was released on 2014-05-20 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Control Problems and Devices in Manufacturing Technology 1980 presents the proceedings of the 3rd IFAC/IFIP Symposium on Control Problems and Devices in Manufacturing Technology, held in Budapest, Hungary, on October 22–25, 1980. This book discusses the increasing use of robots in both machining and assembly. Organized into 49 chapters, this compilation of papers begins with an overview of the development in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. This text then explores the application of computers to the automation of manufacturing processes that have resulted in great progress. Other chapters consider the theoretical aspects and devices concerning material handling, machine control, automatic measurement, and inspection. This book discusses as well the significant roles of numerically controlled machine-tools and robots in the manufacturing system. The final chapter deals with identification and optimal operation of cyclic mechanisms. This book is a valuable resource for control and plant engineers as well as for control system designers.

Download or read book A Concise Guide To Semigroups And Evolution Equations written by Aldo Belleni-morante and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-05-18 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a simple and concise introduction to the theory of semigroups and evolution equations, both in the linear and in the semilinear case. The subject is presented by a discussion of two standard boundary value problems (from particle transport theory and from population theory), and by showing how such problems can be rewritten as evolution problems in suitable Banach spaces. Each section of the book is completed by some notes, where the relevant notions of functional analysis are explained. Some other definitions and theorems of functional analysis are discussed in the Appendices (so that the only prerequisites to read the book are classical differential and integral calculus).

Download or read book The Pinch Technique and its Applications to Non Abelian Gauge Theories written by John M. Cornwall and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-12-23 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Non-Abelian gauge theories, such as quantum chromodynamics (QCD) or electroweak theory, are best studied with the aid of Green's functions that are gauge-invariant off-shell, but unlike for the photon in quantum electrodynamics, conventional graphical constructions fail. The Pinch Technique provides a systematic framework for constructing such Green's functions, and has many useful applications. Beginning with elementary one-loop examples, this book goes on to extend the method to all orders, showing that the Pinch Technique is equivalent to calculations in the background field Feynman gauge. The Pinch Technique Schwinger-Dyson equations are derived, and used to show how a dynamical gluon mass arises in QCD. Applications are given to the center vortex picture of confinement, the gauge-invariant treatment of resonant amplitudes, the definition of non-Abelian effective charges, high-temperature effects, and even supersymmetry. This book is ideal for elementary particle theorists and graduate students.
Download or read book Performance Analysis and Modeling of Digital Transmission Systems written by William Turin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes mathematical methods for analyzing digital transmission system performance. In contrast with publications that use an idealistic model of channels with independent errors, this book shows how to evaluate performance characteristics of information transmission systems in real communication channels with bursts of noise. The book shows how to apply hidden Markov Models (HMMs) to model and analyze performance of communications systems (including error correction codes and communication protocols) in channels with memory. This edition includes a new chapter describing the theory and applications of continuous state HMMs. Methods developed in the book have broad applications in queuing theory, speech and image recognition, signature verification, control theory, artificial intelligence, biology, fraud detection, and finance. The attached CD-ROM contains numerous MATLAB(R) programs implementing the theory described in the book. With a rich assortment of chapter-ending problems and illustrations, the book and CD-ROM are perfect for the study of HMM methods or for use as a classroom text.
