Book Advanced Ground Based Real and Synthetic Aperture Radar

Download or read book Advanced Ground Based Real and Synthetic Aperture Radar written by Lapo Miccinesi and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on 2022 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ground-based/terrestrial radar interferometry (GBRI) is a scientific topic of increasing interest in recent years. The GBRI is used in several field as remote sensing technique for monitoring natural environment (landslides, glacier, and mines) or infrastructures (bridges, towers). These sensors provide the displacement of targets by measuring the phase difference between sending and receiving radar signal. If the acquisition rate is enough the GBRI can provide the natural frequency, e.g. by calculating the Fourier transform of displacement. The research activity, presented in this work, concerns design and development of some advanced GBRI systems. These systems are related to the following issue: detection of displacement vector, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) and radars with 3D capability.

Book Earth Observation for Land and Emergency Monitoring

Download or read book Earth Observation for Land and Emergency Monitoring written by Heiko Balzter and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-03-14 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Earth Observation Science (EOS) is the study of the global Earth land-ocean-atmosphere system through observations. The principal tools for such studies are measurements from space since these provide the coverage of the planet that is necessary to capture the behaviour of the entire coupled system. In addition, surface observations, and measurements from aircraft, balloons and sounding rockets provide valuable contributors to what are now termed "integrated, global observing systems.” Coupled with models, the EOS measurement suites provide powerful tools for research into the factors controlling and changing the Earth system in which we live. The objectives of this book are to describe new methods and applications of satellite technology in the fields of land and emergency monitoring. It draws on new research outcomes from the European FP7 project GIONET (European Centre of Excellence in Earth Observation Research Training). GIONET combines industrial partners with universities and research institutes, and this book provides a perspective on Earth Observation applications that is motivated by the cross-fertilisation of both sectors. Hence, this book will find readers in both industry and academia. This book highlights a broad range of innovative uses of Earth Observation technology to support environmental management, decision making, crisis management and climate policies. It uses advanced concepts of multi-sensor image integration, multi-temporal analysis and synergies between data and models. This is a truly interdisciplinary subject that encompasses a range of applications in various fields which are discussed in detail throughout the text. If you are interested in remote sensing applications and looking for inspiration, this is the book for you.

Book Communication Systems Engineering with GNU Radio

Download or read book Communication Systems Engineering with GNU Radio written by Jean-Michel Friedt and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-12-05 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An approachable guide to an invaluable radiofrequency communication toolkit Software-defined radio (SDR), which emerged in the 1990s, has become a core development method in certain high-profile fields, including military and space communications. High cost and problems with hardware availability, however, prevented this technology from being widely disseminated. The advent of low-cost hardware beginning in the 2010s, however, has made GNU Radio—the leading open-source software toolkit for developing SDR systems—an increasingly viable and even critical tool for a new generation of radiofrequency communication engineers. Communication Systems Engineering with GNU Radio provides an accessible overview of this toolkit and its applications. Beginning with the fundamentals of using GNU radio for digital signal processing, the volume then moves to the practicalities of decoding data and the advantages of accessing raw data normally unavailable in hardware-defined radiofrequency receivers. The result is a potentially crucial tool for engineers looking to adopt this cost-effective and flexible standard for transmitting and processing radiofrequency signals. Readers will also find: A careful balance of radio communications theory with GNU Radio practicalities Practical implementation examples employing well-developed open-source GNU Radio platforms Extensive accompanying documentation and explanation Communication Systems Engineering with GNU Radio is ideal for graduate and undergraduate students in communications systems courses, as well as professionals working in SDR.
