In this way, review chapters of current researches are collected in this book.

Book Transition Metal Complexes as Drugs and Chemotherapeutic Agents

Download or read book Transition Metal Complexes as Drugs and Chemotherapeutic Agents written by N. Farrell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When this book was first conceived as a project the expanding interest in the clinical use of platinum and gold complexes made a survey of the relevant biological properties of metal complexes timely and appropriate. This timeliness has not diminished during the gestation and final publica tion of the manuscript. The introduction contains an explanation of the layout and approach to the book, which I wrote as an overall survey of the wide variety of biological properties of metal complexes. Hopefully, the reader will see the parallels in mechanisms and behavior, even in different organisms. The writing was considerably helped by the enthusiasm and confidence (totally unearned on my part) in the project of Professor Brian James and lowe him my special thanks. I also owe a great debt of gratitude to my colleagues, and especially to Eucler Paniago, of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, for their comprehension and for the initial leave of absence which allowed me to begin the project. To those who read some or all of the manuscript and made suggestions, Bernhard Lippert, Kirsten Skov, and Tom Tritton, as well as the editor's reviewer I am also grateful. As usual, the final responsibility for errors or otherwise rests with the author.

Book Transition Metal Complexes of Dehydroacetic Acid Schiff Bases

Download or read book Transition Metal Complexes of Dehydroacetic Acid Schiff Bases written by Salunke Shridhar and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-05-25 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Schiff bases and their transition metal complexes possess novel structural features, interesting spectral and magnetic properties. They have attracted many researchers due to their importance in medicinal, agricultural, analytical, biological, catalysis, polymer science and industrial fields. Their studies have made tremendous advances in recent decades due to their industrial demand as antimicrobial, anticancer, antiseptic, antidiarrhoeal, antiulcer agents and they are also useful in LCD's, metal corrosion inhibition and myocardial perfusion imaging. The antimicrobial and insecticidal activity of Schiff bases increases with incorporation of the azomethine (>C=N) and arylazo (Ar-N=N-) groups in them. The dehydroacetic acid (DHA) is used to enhance vitamin-C stability, as food preservative and as strong antiseptic agent even at very low concentration (0.02-2.0%). The inclusion of DHA as arylazo Schiff base in transition metal complexes enhances their properties. To ascertain these potentialities and their applications, it is important to synthesize the arylazo Schiff base metal complexes derived from DHA and undertake their characterization studies.

Book Transition Metal Complexes of Benzopyran 4 One Schiff Bases

Download or read book Transition Metal Complexes of Benzopyran 4 One Schiff Bases written by Abdel-Kader Nora S and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-01-29 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The condensation of primary amines with aldehydes or ketones gives products known as imines or Schiff bases which contain a C=N group. Metal complexes of Schiff bases have contributed widely to the inorganic chemistry of chelate system. The extreme sensitivity of physical and chemical properties of Schiff base compounds to small changes in the substitution and in the environment, together with their ready availability justify their extraordinary wide spread applications. The chelating properties of Schiff bases towards transition metal ions were of interest to many authors. The Schiff bases are expected to exhibit variable bonding and stereochemical behavior in their complexes because of the presence of several alternates bonding donor sites. Accordingly, this book contains preparation and characterization of a series of Schiff bases derived from the condensation of benzopyran-4-one derivatives with aliphatic diamines (ethylenediamine and trimethylenediamine). The mode of chelation of some transition metal ionswith these Schiff bases was elucidated by different techniques. The book is a valuable study to inorganic chemists those research coordination compounds of transition metals.

Book Synthesis and Characterization of Transition Metal Complexes

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Transition Metal Complexes written by Milan M. Milutinović and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transition metals and their complexes have an important impact on chemistry and are found in many application in life in general. Ruthenium and rhodium are two members of noble metals and proved to be suitable for anticancer activity. With the aim of changing the coordination environment in ruthenium and rhodium complexes, this thesis presents a series of Ru(II) polypyridyl and Rh(III) pincer-type complexes. All new Ru(II) and Rh(III) complexes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy, ESI-MS spectrometry and UV-Vis spectrophotometry . For some of the complexes a single crystal X-ray crystallography was performed. The substitution reactions of Ru(II) and Rh(III) complexes with mononucleotides, oligonucleotides and amino acids were studied quantitatively by UV-Vis spectroscopy. Measurements of the activation enthalpies and entropies for all synthesized complexes are supporting an associative mechanism for the substitution process. NMR spectroscopy studies were performed on some Ru(II) complexes where after the hydrolyses of the metal-Cl bond the complexes are capable to interact with guanine derivatives forming monofunctional adducts via N7 atom. The interactions of Ru(II) and Rh(III) complexes with fully complementary 15-mer and 22-mer duplexes of DNA and fully complementary 13-mer duplexes of RNA were studied by UV-Vis spectroscopy. The interactions of ruthenium(II) and rhodium(III) complexes with calf thymus and herring testes DNA were examined by absorption using UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence emission spectral studies by ethidium bromide displacement studies and viscosity measurements. ; eng
