Book Symmetries of Maxwell s Equations

Download or read book Symmetries of Maxwell s Equations written by W.I. Fushchich and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approach your problems from the right end It isn't that they can't see the solution. It is and begin with the answers. Then one day, that they can't see the problem. perhaps you will find the fina\ question. G. K. Chesterton. The Scandal of Father 'The Hermit Oad in Crane Feathers' in R. Brown 'The point of a Pin'. van Gu\ik's The Chinese Maze Murders. Growing specialization and diversification have brought a host of monographs and textbooks on increasingly specialized topics. However, the "tree" of knowledge of mathematics and related fields does not grow only by putting forth new branches. It also happens, quite often in fact, that branches which were thought to be completely disparate are suddenly seen to be related. Further, the kind and level of sophistication of mathematics applied in various sciences has changed drastically in recent years: measure theory is used (non-trivially) in regional and theoretical economics; algebraic geometry interacts with physics; the Minkowsky lemma, coding theory and the structure of water meet one another in packing and covering theory; quantum fields, crystal defects and mathematical programming profit from homotopy theory; Lie algebras are relevant to filtering; and prediction and electrical engineering can use Stein spaces. And in addition to this there are such new emerging subdisciplines as "experimental mathematics", "CFD", "completely integrable systems", "chaos, synergetics and large-scale order", which are almost impossible to fit into the existing classification schemes. They draw upon widely different sections of mathematics.

Book Symmetry and Electromagnetic Interaction of Fields with Multi spin

Download or read book Symmetry and Electromagnetic Interaction of Fields with Multi spin written by Sergey Kruglov and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2001 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with fields which possess different spins so, that there is an additional internal symmetry of such schemes. The main feature of theories with multi-spin is that transformations of the Lorentz and internal symmetry groups do not commute each other. So, parameters of the group are tensors but not scalars as in the more common-gauge theories. This kind of symmetry is also different from supersymmetry where group parameters are not scalars. The difference is that in this case the algebra of generators of the symmetry is closed without adding the generators of the Poincaré group. Consideration of schemes of fields with multi-spin possess some attractive features and avoid some difficulties but the price of this is the presence of the indefinite metric. It should be noted that some quantum theories of gravity also require the introduction of an indefinite metric. The localisation of parameters of the internal symmetry group leads to the gauge fields and field interactions. In Part II solutions are found for equations for particles with different spins in external classical and quantified electromagnetic fields, as well as the interaction of fields with multi-spin with external electromagnetic fields of different configurations.

Book Foundations for Microwave Circuits

Download or read book Foundations for Microwave Circuits written by Gilbert H. Owyang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 895 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While many articles have been written on microwave devices, a great majority of them are prepared for specialists dealing in specific aspects of microwave engineering. At the same time, material at a fundamental level in tutorial form is extremely limited, especially for stu dents who need to acquire basic knowledge in the field. Individuals seeking to gain a prelim inary understanding of microwave circuits are usually relegated with little success to the end less search from one reference source to another. For non-experts, sequential derivations of basic relations are rarely available and extremely difficult to locate. The purpose of this volume is to collect in one place the essential fundamental principles for a group of microwave devices. The chosen devices are those which form the basic modules found in practical microwave systems. Thus, these devices provide the crucial build ing blocks in common microwave systems, and their inherent characteristics are also the basis of some of the fundamental concepts in more complex devices. The material is presented in a continuous, self-contained manner. With the appropriate background, readers should be able to follow and understand the contents without the need for additional references.

Download or read book Duality Symmetry written by Ivan Fernandez-Corbaton and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-10 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Symmetry is one of the most general concepts in physics. Symmetry arguments are used to explain and predict observations at all length scales, from elementary particles to cosmology. The generality of symmetry arguments, combined with their simplicity, makes them a powerful tool for both fundamental and applied investigations. In electrodynamics, one of the symmetries is the invariance of the equations under exchange of electric and magnetic quantities. The continuous version of this symmetry is most commonly known as electromagnetic duality symmetry. This concept has been accepted for more than a century, and, throughout this time, has influenced other areas of physics, like high energy physics and gravitation. This Special Issue is devoted to electromagnetic duality symmetry and other vareities of dualities in physics. It contains four Articles, one Review and one Perspective. The context of the contributions ranges from string theory to applied nanophotonics, which, as anticipated, shows that duality symmetries in general and electromagnetic duality symmetry in particular are useful in a wide variety of physics fields, both theoretical and applied. Moreover, a number of the contributions show how the use of symmetry arguments and the quantification of symmetry breaking can successfully guide our theoretical understanding and provide us with guidelines for system design.
