Book Letter Tracking

Download or read book Letter Tracking written by Ann Arbor Publishers and published by High Noon Books. This book was released on 2001-05-01 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every program has its "star"! In the Ann Arbor extensive list of tracking materials, this popular Letter Tracking program through the years has been a standout. Teachers and optometrists tell us that's because it serves a dual purpose, effectively teaching the alphabet sequence and the visual discrimination of letters while correcting reversals and rotations and instilling the habit of left-to-right progression that is so essential to the skill of reading. The rationale is simple: The student matches and tracks lower case alphabet letters to improve letter recognition. Practice of following a line of print in left-to-right direction and matching written letters is extensive. In addition the development of two critical eye movement skills (scanning and locating) is helped tremendously by this task. Print size decreases slowly throughout the books. And then there is the timing factor. Youngsters enjoy "beating" themselves -- i.e., shaving a few seconds off their previous recorded time.

Visual efficiency skills: Includes focusing, eye teaming, and eye movements. Visual information processing skills: Includes the ability to analyze, interpret, and respond to visual information. Covering key topics such as vision problems related to acquired brain injury and learning disorders among children with special educational needs, the new edition has been thoroughly updated to the latest findings in vision research, while there are also new chapters on using an interprofessional collaborative approach to client care, and how remediation can be integrated into occupational therapy principles to create occupation-based remedial vision rehabilitation. A unique collaboration between the professions of occupational therapy and optometry together, and including a glossary of key terms and a sample vision screening report form, this is a key text for health care professionals to provide the ultimate in patient care.

Book Attention and Performance XVII

Download or read book Attention and Performance XVII written by Daniel Gopher and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 842 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1966 the first meeting of the Association for the Study of Attention and Performance was held in the Netherlands to promote the emerging science of cognitive psychology. This volume is based on the most recent conference, held in Israel thirty years later. The focus of the conference was the interaction between theory and application. The organizers chose the specific topic, cognitive regulation of performance, because it is an area where contemporary theories of cognitive processes meet the everyday challenges posed by human interactions with complex systems. Present-day technological systems impose on the operator a variety of supervisory functions, such as input and output monitoring, allocation of cognitive resources, choice of strategies, and regulation of cognitive operations. A challenge for engineers and designers is to accommodate the cognitive requirements called for by these systems. The book is divided into four sections: the presentation and representation of information, cognitive regulation of acquisition and performance, consciousness and behavior, and special populations: aging and neurological disorders.
