And when it was found that an additional volume would be required to overtake the supple mentary matter that had been collected, it was resolved to reserve the more im portant corrections and improvements for that volume. By this arrangement the present work has been made doubly useful for it forms a supplement both to the old and to the new edition of the dictionary.
