Book Research on Supersonic Flow Around Three Dimensional Pointed Bodies

Download or read book Research on Supersonic Flow Around Three Dimensional Pointed Bodies written by L. G. NAPOLITANO and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review of research on non-equilibrium flows is presented. The work is divided into two parts, containing published and unpublished research, respectively. Part I deals with the thermodynamics and dynamics of multireacting mixtures. By starting from basic postulates, a self-consistent and complete thermodynamic theory is formulated. The study of the dynamics is mostly limited to the linearized approximation and falls within two categories: (a) formulation of basic equations and analysis of their overall properties; and (b) the solutions of typically representative flow fields. Part II deals with the derivation and discussion of the potential equation for linearized steady motion of a multireacting mixture within the volume-viscosity analogy. Also, the notion of thermodynamic characteristic speeds introduced in Part I is generalized, and a more exhaustive study of its properties is made. (Author).

Book Three dimensional Inviscid Flow about Supersonic Blunt Cones at Angle of Attack

Download or read book Three dimensional Inviscid Flow about Supersonic Blunt Cones at Angle of Attack written by M. J. Abbett and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The solution for the steady three-dimensional inviscid flow about supersonic blunt cones at angle of attack is obtained by coupling a direct time-dependent solution for the subsonic portion of the shock layer with steady state numerical afterbody solution. An outline is given covering the coupling scheme and the use of the resulting Fortran computer code.

Book Supersonic Flow Past a Family of Blunt Axisymmetric Bodies

Download or read book Supersonic Flow Past a Family of Blunt Axisymmetric Bodies written by Milton Van Dyke and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some 100 numerical computations have been carried out for unyawed bodies of revolution with detached bow waves. The gas is assumed perfect with y=5/3, 7/5, or 1. Free-stream Mach numbers are taken as 1.2, 1.5, 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, and [infinity symbol]. The results are summarized with emphasis on the sphere and paraboloid.

Book Use of a Characteristic Surfaces for Unsymmetrical Supersonic Flow Problems

Download or read book Use of a Characteristic Surfaces for Unsymmetrical Supersonic Flow Problems written by Wolfgang E. Moeckel and published by . This book was released on 1949 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Application of the method of characteristics to the linearized three-dimensional equation results in a relatively simple system of difference equations that can be used to compute the supersonic flow past boundaries for which no other linearized solutions are available.

Book Three Dimensional Supersonic Flow Over a Smooth Body with Shock Producing Protuberance

Download or read book Three Dimensional Supersonic Flow Over a Smooth Body with Shock Producing Protuberance written by Richard A. Scheuing and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The investigation is directed primarily at the second order solution of the three dimensional, supersonic flow field around an arbitrarily-shaped body which, although otherwise of smooth contour, has a protuberance that generates a shock wave and substantially disturbs the flow downstream. Such configurations occur for example, in fuselage-canopy combinations. The calculation of the flow field about a body with no local protuberance is considered first, the solution being based on the so-called method of near-characteristics. Typical numerical results are presented for circular and elliptic cones, tangent ogives of circular and elliptic cross section, and a representative non-axisymmetric compression surface. Comparisons with results from conical flow theories and with experimental data are made wherever possible. The theoretical analysis and computational procedure evolved for the primary body is then extended to permit the addition of the shock-producing protuberance. This approach enable the flow upstream of the secondary shock to be considered uniform.

Book The Calculation of Three Dimensional Supersonic Flows Around Spherically Capped Smooth Bodies and Wings Volume 1 Theory and Application

Download or read book The Calculation of Three Dimensional Supersonic Flows Around Spherically Capped Smooth Bodies and Wings Volume 1 Theory and Application written by and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes the theories, the numerical methods and the computer programs developed for determining the inviscid three- dimensional flow about smooth shapes at supersonic speeds. Volume 1 describes the theoretical and numerical approaches and compares two sample cases with experiment; a blunted 15 deg cone at 20 deg angle of attack in helium at M = 14. 9, and a 70 deg slab delta wing at 15 deg angle of attack in air at M = 9.6. The numerical results are in close agreement with the experimental data.
