Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supernatural Bonds - Drui Claiming By Jory Strong Book 4 in the Supernatural Bonds series. Dragons. They huff and puff and burn the house down when they don't get their own way. They're possessive, dominating, and don't know the meaning of carefree because they're weighed down by all the treasure they feel compelled to guard. They're trouble but it doesn't change the fact that Marika has it bad for a certain silver-blond male named Xanthus whose dark, dark eyes have a lethal effect on her libido. She wants him, but she can't have him. Dragons don't share and she comes from a long line of tree-hugging, multi-partnered Drui. There are threesomes, foursomes - and more. But there are no twosomes and she's already got one permanent man in her life, Tallis - a shapeshifting Sjen who is every bit as dominant and possessive as a dragon. It's a hopeless situation, or so it seems, until Fate intervenes and Marika decides to go for what she wants - both Xanthus and Tallis in her bed. And if the men want to do each other? She's all for it. Reader Advisory: While every effort has been made to enable Drui Claiming to be read as a stand-alone story, it is set concurrent to Sophie's Dragon in the Supernatural Bonds series, and some story elements mentioned in Drui Claiming are explained in more depth in Sophie's Dragon.

They are the bonds I’ve yearned for, the fated mates my soul craves. But our path is strewn with insurmountable obstacles and forces beyond our control threaten to tear us apart at every turn. But the song of the once unprotected and very powerful wellspring still washes across the distant shores of darkness, and it continues to draw evil to the reservation. The one that arrives this time is different from the others. Not only is it skilled in magic, but its kills are very specific. Very targeted. As the brutal deaths mount up and she, Monty, and Aiden struggle to find answers and stop the killings, Lizzie begins to suspect there’s more to this particular evil than meets the eye. Especially when it helps save the life of a child. But the biggest threat to Lizzie comes not in the form of evil, but rather the changes whispered on the wind. Because the werewolf Aiden once asked to be his wife has finally arrived back in the reservation. And she’s determined to get her man.

Book Unwanted Bonds

Book excerpt: I found the bonds I wanted all along, but with how complicated these men are, I’m not sure we can make this work. Following Caden and Mateo's little stint, I made up my mind to steer clear of any romantic involvement with the Crawford boys. It's clear that despite the bonds between us, we're not meant to be. Now, my priority is to swiftly accomplish my mission and sever ties with the Crawford Pack and the Crawford boys for good. Unfortunately, my plans fall through when Angelique is found dead, and I become the primary suspect in her murder. Given this new turn of events, I'm uncertain about how much longer I can maintain my false identity. Moreover, should my true identity be revealed, I'll undoubtedly face expulsion from the pack long before I can complete my mission. Fortunately, Levi and I have reconciled, and with his support, I believe I can make this work. Unwanted Bonds is book three of four books in Their Fated Mate series and it ends on a cliffhanger. *If you like these tropes: fated mates, reverse harem / why choose romance, badass female main characters, cinnamon roll Alphas, childhood sweetheart romance, friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, werewolf romance, etc, this series is for you.

Book A Supernatural Politics

Download or read book A Supernatural Politics written by Lisa Macklem and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2021-04-19 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What makes a horror television drama interesting? Like any other drama, it is often the character development or plot, and this certainly applies to the dramatically-resonant Supernatural and its beloved characters. However, Supernatural has achieved a dedicated fandom and a record-breaking 15-season run by skillfully engaging with the social reality inhabited by the show's audience. Additionally, the show plays with the fourth wall by having an in-world fandom for the main characters. Supernatural's many layers have garnered the attention of academics who analyzed the show's engagement with diverse topics such as the #MeToo movement, consumerism, and the American Dream. This collection of essays studies the topical issues and politics that added depth and maturity to Supernatural, separated it from X-Files knock-offs, and garnered the show its own cult following.

Book Transitional Objects and Potential Spaces

Download or read book Transitional Objects and Potential Spaces written by Peter L. Rudnytsky and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 1993 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: D. W. Winnicott is increasingly recognized as one of the most important psychoanalysts since Freud, but the relevance of his Independent version of object relations theory to psychoanalytic literary criticism has not been sufficiently appreciated. As Peter L. Rudnytsky notes, "There must be ten literary critics conversant with Lacan's ecrits for every one who has read Winnicott's Playing and Reality." Transitional Objects and Potential Spaces begins to redress this imbalance. The title and subtitle of this collection highlight three of Winnicott's key concepts: transitional objects, potential space, and the use of an object. Because Winnicott is unique in respecting the integrity of art as an autonomous human activity while continuing to insist on its infantile origins, he may be said to offer the first adequate psychoanalytic account of aesthetics. This volume is organized into three sections: The Analytic Frame, Literary Objects, and Cultural Fields. Beginning with Winnicott's "The Location of Cultural Experience," it features essays by a distinguished group of contributors, including Marion Milner and two current leading members of the British Psycho-Analytical Society, Christopher Bollas and Patrick J. Casement, as well as such eminent critics as Richard Poirier, Murray M. Schwartz, Ellen Handler Spitz, and Madelon Sprengnether. Transitional Objects and Potential Spaces makes a timely and persuasive case for the power of Winnicott's ideas. In defining for the first time an independent tradition of psychoanalytic criticism, it will reorient future work in literary and cultural studies.

Book Authentic Liturgical Renewal in Contemporary Perspective

Download or read book Authentic Liturgical Renewal in Contemporary Perspective written by Uwe Michael Lang and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-07-27 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ongoing debates on the present state and the future of the Roman Catholic worship are not confined to specialists, but are clearly of interest to a wider public, as the responses to the Sacra Liturgia UK conference, held in London in July 2016, have shown. This volume contains the proceedings of the conference and raises the question of how to bring to fruition the insights and instructions of the Second Vatican Council and its key document on the liturgy, Sacrosanctum Concilium, in the life of the Church today. The initial contribution from Robert Cardinal Sarah, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments, calls for a fuller implementation of Sacrosanctum Concilium. Following on from this other leading figures and liturgical scholars, such as Joris Geldhof, David Fagerberg and Alcuin Reid, examine Catholic worship from a variety of perspectives, including historical, pastoral, social, cultural and artistic themes. Taken together, these chapters present another crucial step along the route of authentic liturgical renewal in the contemporary world.

Book The Mysteries of Christianity

Download or read book The Mysteries of Christianity written by Matthias Joseph Scheeben and published by Emmaus Academic. This book was released on 2023-03-17 with total page 926 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Mysteries of Christianity is Matthias Joseph Scheeben’s youthful magnum opus, a logically rigorous and spiritually profound dogmatic theology. In its pages, he explores the intelligibility of Christianity’s supernatural mysteries and their deep connectedness, ultimately demonstrating that Christian theology constitutes a science before the court of human reason, even as its object transcends human comprehension. Scheeben’s task is to present a unified view of the whole panorama of revealed truth, and he pursues this by considering nine key Christian mysteries: the Trinity, creation, sin, the Incarnation, the Eucharist, the Church and its sacraments, justification, eschatological glory, and predestination. Since the mystery of the Trinity is the root of the supernatural order, Scheeben begins here, showing that the foundation of the salvific economy lies in the eternal processions of persons in God—the begetting of the Son and the spiration of the Spirit being in different ways the cause of the life of grace in the human soul. When the Son and the Spirit are sent into the world in the Incarnation and through the bestowal of grace, they provide the way for human beings to see God face-to-face in the beatific vision, the end for which God created humans. Among the means of return to God, Scheeben particularly emphasizes the Eucharist, on account of its close connection with the mystery of the Incarnation. By placing his treatment of the Eucharist before that of the Church, he signals that his is a genuinely Eucharistic ecclesiology, centered on the abiding presence of the incarnate divine Son.
