Book The Meaning of Dreams

Download or read book The Meaning of Dreams written by Anna Mancini and published by BUENOS BOOKS AMERICA LLC. This book was released on 2007-03 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dreams are at the heart of a process where tangible and intangible worlds are intimately intermingled. Indeed, a dream is an intangible phenomenon occurring in a physical body that stands in an environment both material and informational (intangible). A systematic investigation of the connections between dreams and reality sheds new light on the dream process and on the functioning of the mind. This book invites you, the reader, to discover the results you can achieve through a more comprehensive and unified approach to the dream process. It gives you advice on how to carry out your own research. Reading this book will help you become better aware of the role played by your body at the meeting point between dreams and reality, between the tangible and the intangible (Chapter 1). The book describes an efficient method for observing the dream process (Chapter 2) and explains the results you can achieve with it through your own experimentation (Chapter 3). Through your personal exploration of the whole dream process you will be able to verify for yourself the reality of certain faculties of the mind which are commonly considered to be "paranormal". You will see that they can be explained rationally. Chapter 4 of the book explains how you can use the dream process to find answers to your questions, whether they regard your daily life (health, work, relationships, life guidance) or your artistic or scientific creativity. The last chapter (Chapter 5) explains why faculties today considered to be paranormal are destined to a natural collective awakening. With this book, I invite you to observe your dreams and their connections with your reality, with a mind as neutral as possible. This is the best way to understand the meaning of your dreams. Try, then, to forget all you have ever heard about dreams, and just look at them and observe the whole dream process, and not only the dreams. Everything I assert in the book can be verified through personal experience by using the proposed method of observation. With this method everyone, even the most skeptical person, can verify the existence of unusual faculties of the mind, and learn to develop and use them. Key words: dreams and reality, precognitive dreams, future in dreams, premonitory dreams, dream interpretation, meaning of dreams, paranormal faculties, telepathy, dreams and health, dreams and abundance, dreams and the past, mind and body, nightmares, dreaming brain, lucid dreams

Book Introducci n a la interpretaci n de los sue os

Download or read book Introducci n a la interpretaci n de los sue os written by Javier Castillo Colomer and published by Editorial Manuscritos. This book was released on 2014-02-19 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From its earliest manifestations on the street corners of nineteenth-century Buenos Aires to its ascendancy as a global cultural form, tango has continually exceeded the confines of the dance floor or the music hall. In Tango Lessons, scholars from Latin America and the United States explore tango's enduring vitality. The interdisciplinary group of contributors—including specialists in dance, music, anthropology, linguistics, literature, film, and fine art—take up a broad range of topics. Among these are the productive tensions between tradition and experimentation in tango nuevo, representations of tango in film and contemporary art, and the role of tango in the imagination of Jorge Luis Borges. Taken together, the essays show that tango provides a kaleidoscopic perspective on Argentina's social, cultural, and intellectual history from the late nineteenth to the early twenty-first centuries. Contributors. Esteban Buch, Oscar Conde, Antonio Gómez, Morgan James Luker, Carolyn Merritt, Marilyn G. Miller, Fernando Rosenberg, Alejandro Susti

Book A Salute to Our Veterans

Download or read book A Salute to Our Veterans written by Irene J. Dumas and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Salute To Our Veterans is a book about individual stories that veterans have told the writer during interviews, what they did as youngsters, about when they were old enough to go to war, where they signed up, went to basic training, what unit they served with, and where they fought during the wars. In the book are stories never told before by 29 veterans of World War II, 10 Korean War veterans, and six veterans from the Vietnam War and others. In the book are sailors, solders, marines and Air Force men. The stories mention the ships they were apart of and the ships that carried them to battles. The World War II veterans have told me stories of battles that they fought 60 years ago, and they are still fresh in their minds. It was amazing that when I put it down on paper, they wanted to check to see if I was as precise as they were. They never forget. Some people that read the stories will be able to relate to them, for they may have been at the same battle. Readers may find in my book someone they use to know, a lost comrade. The veterans remembered the units they fought with also. There is also a whole history of events that took you back to places during the wars. One of the veterans gives a full detailed story about his experiences in Vietnam, when he was fighting during Vietnam's worst fighting, the Tet Offensive and Khe Shan Operations. It also features a US Marine stationed in China after the end of WWII. After reading this book, you will be more aware that there are veterans like the ones in the book in your neighborhood. You might even want to give them one of these books for a gift.

Download or read book Spain a Global History written by Luis Francisco Martinez Montes and published by . This book was released on 2018-11-12 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the late fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries, the Hispanic Monarchy was one of the largest and most diverse political communities known in history. At its apogee, it stretched from the Castilian plateau to the high peaks of the Andes; from the cosmopolitan cities of Seville, Naples, or Mexico City to Santa Fe and San Francisco; from Brussels to Buenos Aires and from Milan to Manila. During those centuries, Spain left its imprint across vast continents and distant oceans contributing in no minor way to the emergence of our globalised era. This was true not only in an economic sense-the Hispano-American silver peso transported across the Atlantic and the Pacific by the Spanish fleets was arguably the first global currency, thus facilitating the creation of a world economic system-but intellectually and artistically as well. The most extraordinary cultural exchanges took place in practically every corner of the Hispanic world, no matter how distant from the metropolis. At various times a descendant of the Aztec nobility was translating a Baroque play into Nahuatl to the delight of an Amerindian and mixed audience in the market of Tlatelolco; an Andalusian Dominican priest was writing the first Western grammar of the Chinese language in Fuzhou, a Chinese city that enjoyed a trade monopoly with the Spanish Philippines; a Franciscan friar was composing a piece of polyphonic music with lyrics in Quechua to be played in a church decorated with Moorish-style ceilings in a Peruvian valley; or a multi-ethnic team of Amerindian and Spanish naturalists was describing in Latin, Spanish and local vernacular languages thousands of medicinal plants, animals and minerals previously unknown to the West. And, most probably, at the same time that one of those exchanges were happening, the members of the School of Salamanca were laying the foundations of modern international law or formulating some of the first modern theories of price, value and money, Cervantes was writing Don Quixote, Velázquez was painting Las Meninas, or Goya was exposing both the dark and bright sides of the European Enlightenment. Actually, whenever we contemplate the galleries devoted to Velázquez, El Greco, Zurbarán, Murillo or Goya in the Prado Museum in Madrid; when we visit the National Palace in Mexico City, a mission in California, a Jesuit church in Rome or the Intramuros quarter in Manila; or when we hear Spanish being spoken in a myriad of accents in the streets of San Francisco, New Orleans or Manhattan we are experiencing some of the past and present fruits of an always vibrant and still expanding cultural community. As the reader can infer by now, this book is about how Spain and the larger Hispanic world have contributed to world history and in particular to the history of civilisation, not only at the zenith of the Hispanic Monarchy but throughout a much longer span of time.

Book excerpt: NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF 2022 by the New Yorker, Publishers Weekly, The Financial Times, Words Without Borders A highly-acclaimed master work of fiction from Mircea Cărtărescu, author of Blinding, Solenoid is an existence (and eventually a cosmos) created by forking paths. Based on Cărtărescu's own experience as a high school teacher, Solenoid begins with the mundane details of a diarist's life and quickly spirals into a philosophical account of life, history, philosophy, and mathematics. The novel is grounded in the reality of Romania in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including frightening health care, the absurdities of the education system, and the misery of family life, while on a broad scale Solenoid's investigations of other universes, dimensions, and timelines attempt to reconcile the realms of life and art. The text includes sequences in a tuberculosis preventorium, encounters with an anti-death protest movement, a society of dream investigators, and an extended visit to the miniscule world of dust mites living on a microscope slide. One character asks another: When you rush into the burning building, will you save the newborn or the artwork? Combining fiction with autobiography and history—Nikola Tesla and Charles Hinton, for example, appear alongside the Voynich manuscript—Solenoid searches for escape routes through the alternate dimensions of life and art, as various monstrous realities erupt within the present.

Book Murder Most Serene

Download or read book Murder Most Serene written by Gabrielle Wittkop and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last days of the Venetian Republic, the successive wives of Count Alvise Lanzi suffer mysterious, agonizing deaths. Murder Most Serene offers a cruel portrait of a beautiful but corrupt city-state and its equally extravagant and corrupt inhabitants. Redolent of darkness, death, poison and transgression, it is also an over-the-top, tongue-in-cheek Venetian romp. Rich in historical detail and bursting with bejeweled putrescence, Gabrielle Wittkop's chilling memento mori eschews the murder mystery in which it is garbed for a scintillating depiction of physical, moral, societal and institutional corruption, in which the author plays the role of puppeteer--"present, masked as convention dictates, while in a Venice on the brink of downfall, women gorged with venom burst like wineskins." Self-styled heir to the Marquis de Sade, Gabrielle Wittkop (1920-2002) was a French author who wrote a remarkable series of novels and travelogues, all laced with sardonic humor and dark sexuality, with recurrent themes of death, disease and decrepitude. After meeting Justus Wittkop, a German deserter, in Paris under the Occupation, she hid him from the Nazis and then married him after the war, in what she described as an "intellectual alliance," given he was homosexual. He would commit suicide in 1986, with her approval, after being diagnosed with Parkinson's. Her first novel, The Necrophiliac, appeared in 1972, but a number of her books have only been made available since her own suicide in 2002, after she was diagnosed with lung cancer.
