Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yogavasistha or Yogavasistha Maharamayana has been a guide book to earnest Sadhakas, all over the country. The popularity of this book appears to be due to the fact, that it is a happy combination of terse Upanisadic thought clothed in the story form. A scripture becomes relevant, when it gives the truths of the Upanisads, using a common man's language with illustrative stories, helps a beginner as well as an advanced seeker. It is believed by some that Sage Valmiki wrote the Ramayana for the purification of mind and to create a mood of seeking in the society. It is well known, that the story of Sri Rama, gives an exemplary ethical and moral behaviour in an individual, and a glimpse into the ideal culture, through the description of Ayodhya. For only on a strong ethical and moral foundation can one hope to build the super-structure of spirituality. Attempt has been made to cover all the stories in six Prakaranas. This book is a study by a seeker, and an attempt to present the philosophy, and practical hints contained in the book, to fellow seekers who are not very familiar with Sanskrit. It is essentially meant for inspiring the seekers to take up the study of the original text, which is a mine of practical wisdom. The essays contained herein, are glimpses into the meditations on the golden verses and their connection and relevance in our day-to-day life. Consequently, the interpretation and the perspective is not really meant for scholastic pursuits.

Book Fifty stories from Yogavasistha

Download or read book Fifty stories from Yogavasistha written by Vijayshree and published by Nag Prakashak. This book was released on 2006-02 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Telling stories is the most effective and the easiest way to teach and preach ethics and morality, philosophy or human psychology, social ideals and religion, politics and social human behavior, emotions of love, hate, anger, and heroism to any age group of the species of mankind. We find many Akhyanas (stories) in the oldest available scriptures i.e. the oldest available scriptures i.e. the tenth Mandala of the Rigveda. The same is developed later on in Brahman literature, Upanishads, Puranas, Epics, and classical literature. The famous 'Panchtantra' is known to be written by Vishnu Sharma to teach politics to the three princes of King Amarshkti. Similarly, the author of Yogavasishtha has also, employed this technique of storytelling in expounding subtle ideals of Indian philosophy through Akhyanas in the book. Yogavasishtha like Srimad Bhagvadgita is the most appropriate, even in the present times of information technology for the most ordinary human being, anywhere in the world. It gives us 'Peace' the most sought-after thing in the present world. This book does not believe in renouncing the world or duties, unlike the Upanishads. Here the author has utilized 'Fifty-five' Akhyanas (Stories) to simplify the difficult ideals of Indian Philosophy. A few of them are repetitions, so to avoid repetition I have compiled them into fifty stories.

Download or read book Ramana Maharshi s Essence of Self Realization written by David Frawley and published by Vedic Wisdom Press . This book was released on 2018-08-28 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi (1878-1950) was probably the most honored Self-realized guru and spiritual master of modern India. He taught the Yoga of Knowledge (Jnana Yoga) and the Vedantic path of Advaita or Non-duality, leading us to our true nature as pure consciousness beyond body and mind, death and sorrow. Though Ramana never left the sacred mountain of Arunachala in Tiruvannamalai, South India where he resided, numerous people came from throughout the world to seek his guidance, which he usually gave through silence or through short replies to their questions. Upadesha Saram, which means the “Essence of Instruction”, is often regarded as his most important written work – an axiomatic text of a mere thirty verses. It summarizes his teachings on the Essence of Self-realization, guiding the disciple along the path to the highest awareness in a systematic manner, pointing out a variety of practices, ways of meditation and approaches to Self-inquiry. The current translation and interpretation by Acharya Vamadeva Shastri David Frawley), one of the most highly regarded Vedic teachers in the world today, explains each verse clearly and succinctly to reveal the depth of Ramana’s insight for everyone to learn and benefit from.
