Les résultats indiquent que le vieillissement altère davantage les tâches nécessitant plus de ressources cognitives, et que cet effet de l'âge semble dépendre à la fois d'un déficit exécutif et d'un ralentissement de traitement. En revanche, la vitesse de traitement capture la totalité de la part de variance liée à l'âge sur les réponses R (paradigme R/K de Gardimer, 1998). Ce résultat est discuté en termes d'identification des processus conduisant aux réponses R et K, et de mise en œuvre de stratégies compensatoires chez les sujets âgés.
