Their six Duct Tape books and many calendars have sold over two million copies, a testament to the universal appeal of duct tape. In Stump the Duct Tape Guys, America's most popular fix-it duo unrolls more inventive and hilarious advice guaranteed to stick to your funny bone.According to Jim and Tim, "If duct tape isn't the answer, then you must be asking the wrong question!" To prove it, they have collected the best and funniest questions and answers from the popular Stump the Duct Tape Guys section of their massive Web site (www.ducttapeguys.com), where real people submit problems that you wouldn't think could be fixed with duct tape. The Duct Tape Guys put on their thinking caps (made entirely out of duct tape, of course) and come up with solutions that never fail to satisfy, or at least amuse, their audience. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did you know that duct tape can turn any item of clothing into rainwear? That duct tape over a computer screen will keep your kids from surfing naughty sites on the Web? That a perfect solution for those easy-to-lose TV remotes is to duct tape them to your arm? (Not only won't you lose it, you'll never have to relinquish control over it, either!) But can you also believe that Jim and Tim's creative ideas for duct tape spawned not just one bestselling book, but three, plus a calendar? And now the ultimate collection? With two-thirds of the material drawn from their previous books and calendars and one-third all-new, The Jumbo Duct Tape Book is pure nuttiness to the nth degree. The premise is right there, on page one: "One rule can get you through life. It if ain't stuck and it's supposed to be, duct tape it." But of course it's the interpretation that counts-like duct taping the gas pedal for cruise control, or duct taping marbles to your pressure points for instant reflexology. And then there's bending the rule-transforming sneakers into golf shoes by punching nails through duct tape and taping it to the soles, saving energy by taping all switches in the off position. Plus cosmetic dentistry (use white tape for the "The Mask" look, silver for the metal-mouth bad guy look), cell phone safety (tape phone to side of head while driving so hands stay on wheel), home decorating (use duct tape for easy drapery tie-backs). You can even convert the book to a "hard cover" by taping a piece of 1/4 inch sheet of plate steel to the front and back covers. It'll last for years!

Book An Army of Stories

Download or read book An Army of Stories written by Roger Mason and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2015-06-23 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Private First Class R was an excellent soldier so it was unlike him to be late. When he came in a few minutes later I could see by the grim look on his face that something was terribly wrong. He immediately began to cry and tell me that his wife had miscarried the child they had so badly wanted. I had never seen anyone cry as much as he did that morning and one box of tissues simply was not enough. After a while, the front of his uniform was soaked from his many tears, and I felt horrible seeing him suffer. It was one of those times when I would have moved Heaven and Earth if I could have but I could not. It humbled me because I wanted to order someone to do something to fix the problem, but this time it would not be that simple. I had always taken pride in looking out for the welfare of the soldiers in my charge but this time was different; I knew I was not a miracle worker but I felt I had let him down because as much as I wanted to, I did not have the power to bring back his baby. It was the worst day of my Army career because a good soldier who looked up to me for wisdom and guidance was in peril, and there was nothing I could do. I felt like a weakened Superman hopelessly dragging his feet through a field of Kryptonite, because there I was with all my rank and power that the Army had entrusted in me, but I was useless to him.

Book excerpt: THEY DON’T JUST STING YOU. They lay their eggs in human flesh. They hatch and crawl beneath the skin. Then they grow wings and burst out of the body. A rare species of wasp from the Amazon jungle, they are unusually large, extremely aggressive—and coming to America on the next international flight . . . THEY BREED INSIDE OF YOU. On a Florida-bound plane from Honduras, a baby screams in pain. Minutes later, the wasps emerge from their human host. They attack the passengers, sting the crew, and send the plane crashing into the gulf. No one survives. Over three hundred bodies are pulled from the wreckage. Bodies injected with tens of thousands of eggs . . . CALL THE EXTERMINATORS. In a Miami morgue, the larvae feast on the dead. Then they erupt from the corpses, attacking every living human in sight. Soon they are swarming across the state, spreading throughout the country, breeding and growing in number, size—and viciousness. Pesticides won’t stop them. But a young entomologist and a motley crew of military convicts are fighting back—using science, smoking grenades, and flamethrowers. They call themselves The Exterminators. And they’ll do whatever it takes to wipe these nasty buggers off the face of the earth—before they kill us all . . . Prepare yourself for a skin-crawling shocker by Jeff Jacobson, the acclaimed master of cult horror classics like Sleep Tight, Growth, and Wormfood. “A talent with an amazing ability to astonish.”—David Morrell, bestselling author of First Blood

Book Robert Kirkman

Download or read book Robert Kirkman written by Terrence R. Wandtke and published by Univ. Press of Mississippi. This book was released on 2021-07-29 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Robert Kirkman (b. 1978) is probably best known as the creator of The Walking Dead. The comic book and its television adaptation have reinvented the zombie horror story, transforming it from cult curiosity and parody to mainstream popularity and critical acclaim. In some ways, this would be enough to justify this career-spanning collection of interviews. Yet Kirkman represents much more than this single comic book title. Kirkman’s story is a fanboy’s dream that begins with him financing his irreverent, independent comic book Battle Pope with credit cards. After writing major titles with Marvel comics (Spider-Man, Captain America, and X-Men), Kirkman rejected companies like DC and Marvel and publicly advocated for creator ownership as the future of the comics industry. As a partner at Image, Kirkman wrote not only The Walking Dead but also Invincible, a radical reinvention of the superhero genre. Robert Kirkman: Conversations gives insight to his journey and explores technique, creativity, collaboration, and the business of comics as a multimedia phenomenon. For instance, while continuing to write genre-based comics in titles like Outcast and Oblivion Song, Kirkman explains his writerly bias for complex characters over traditional plot development. As a fan-turned-creator, Kirkman reveals a creator’s complex relationship with fans in a comic-con era that breaks down the consumer/producer dichotomy. And after rejecting company-ownership practices, Kirkman articulates a vision of the creator-ownership model and his goal of organic creativity at Skybound, his multimedia company. While Stan Lee was the most prominent comic book everyman of the previous era of comics production, Kirkman is the most prominent comic book everyman of this dynamic, evolving new era.

Parkhurst cements herself as a writer capable of astonishing humanity and exquisite prose.” —Washington Post “Gorgeously written and patently original.” —Jodi Picoult, New York Times bestselling author of Leaving Time From the New York Times bestselling author of The Dogs of Babel, a taut, emotionally wrenching story of how a seemingly "normal" family could become desperate enough to leave everything behind and move to a "family camp" in New Hampshire--a life-changing experience that alters them forever. How far will a mother go to save her family? The Hammond family is living in DC, where everything seems to be going just fine, until it becomes clear that the oldest daughter, Tilly, is developing abnormally--a mix of off-the-charts genius and social incompetence. Once Tilly--whose condition is deemed undiagnosable--is kicked out of the last school in the area, her mother Alexandra is out of ideas. The family turns to Camp Harmony and the wisdom of child behavior guru Scott Bean for a solution. But what they discover in the woods of New Hampshire will push them to the very limit. Told from the alternating perspectives of both Alexandra and her younger daughter Iris (the book's Nick Carraway), this is a unputdownable story about the strength of love, the bonds of family, and how you survive the unthinkable.

Book The Arliss Cutter Thrillers

Download or read book The Arliss Cutter Thrillers written by Marc Cameron and published by Canelo. This book was released on 2022-07-28 with total page 1477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wrap up warm and journey into the Alaskan wilderness. Includes all four books in The Arliss Cutter Thrillers series; Open Carry, Stone Cross, Bone Rattle and Cold Snap. Open Carry: After enlisting in the military and fighting in the Middle East, US Marshal Arliss Cutter is sent to the icy wastelands of southeast Alaska. Three people have disappeared on Prince of Wales Island. Two are crew members of the reality TV show, Alaska Adventure Jobs. The other is a Tlingit Indian girl who had the misfortune of witnessing their murders. Cutter’s job is to find the bodies, examine the crew’s footage for clues, and track down the men who killed them. Easier said than done. Especially when the whole town is hiding secrets, the trail leads to a dead end – and the hunter becomes the prey. Stone Cross: Winter comes early to the rural native community of Stone Cross, Alaska – and so does hunting season. But Arliss Cutter has come here for a very different game. A federal judge is receiving death threats and refuses protection. Cutter and his deputy Lola Teariki have been assigned to shadow him on his trip to this icy outland. When Cutter and Lola arrive, the village is already gripped with fear. A young couple has disappeared and their handyman is found dead. To make matters worse, a dense fog has descended on the region, isolating the town from civilization. With the judge’s life still at risk, and two people still missing, Cutter and Lola have their work cut out for them... Bone Rattle: In Juneau, a young archaeologist is sent to protect the ancient burial sites uncovered by an Alaskan gold mining company. He never returns. In Anchorage, a female torso – minus head, hands, and feet – is washed ashore near a jogging trail by the airport. It is not the first. At Alaska’s Fugitive Task Force, Arliss Cutter and deputy Lola Teariki are pulled from their duties and sent to a federal court in Juneau to keep track of sequestered jurors in a high-profile drug trial. When a prosecuting attorney is murdered – and a reporter viciously attacked – Cutter realizes they’re dealing with something darker. The truth lies deep within the ancient sites and precious mines of this isolated land – and inside the cold hearts of those who would kill to hide its secrets. Cold Snap: After an early spring thaw on the Alaskan coast, Anchorage police discover a gruesome new piece of evidence in their search for a serial killer – a dismembered human foot. In the remote northern town of Deadhorse, Deputy US Marshal Arliss Cutter escorts four very dangerous handcuffed prisoners onto a small bush plane. He’s expecting a routine mission and a nonstop flight. But when the plane goes down in the wilderness, the prisoners murder the pilot and torch the plane. Back in Anchorage, deputy Lola Teariki has traced the dismembered foot to a missing girl and the serial psychopath who slaughtered her – one of the prisoners on Cutter's flight. With no means of communication, Cutter will have to use all his skills if he is to survive the harsh Alaskan wilderness and an angry killer on the loose... This bone-chilling thriller series shows the desperate measures that must be taken to survive Alaska’s icy heart, perfect for fans of Lee Child, James Swallow and Harlan Coben.
