Book Study of Low Temperature Mechanical Properties of Metals and Solidified Gases

Download or read book Study of Low Temperature Mechanical Properties of Metals and Solidified Gases written by Jesse Wakefield Beams and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies of metals at low temperature (OOR 826:16, Part A): Two methods which were used to determine the tensile strength of thin metallic films are described. The adhesion of one metal to another by high speed technique was investigated. Studies of solidified gases at low temperature (OOR 826:16, Part B): An investigation was made of the measurement of PVT relationships and phase transition parameters for various solidified gases. The following reprints are also included: Mechanical properties of thin films of gold and silver (OOR 826:14); Compression and densities of four solidified hydrocarbons and carbon tetrafluoride at 77 K (OOR 826:10); Alarm for Philips air liquefier (OOR 826:15); Phase transitions and compressions of solid CH4, CD4 and O2 (OOR 826:12); Application of indium resistance thermometry (OOR 826:11); Compression and phase transitions of solid NH3, SiF4, H2S, and CF4 (OOR 826:13).

Book Low Temperature Properties of Selected Materials

Download or read book Low Temperature Properties of Selected Materials written by Dorothea M. Johnson and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is a bibliography of the work reported in the literature on the effects of low temperature on the properties of structural materials. Some of the newer areas of cryogenic technology such as superconducting machinery involve environments which may subject the components to temperature as low as 4 K. Exposure of structural materials to such low temperatures affects their properties. This bibliography contains 963 references published between 1950-1976, arranged in chronological/alphabetical order. Combined material/property indexes are provided. (Author).

Book Mechanical Properties of Metals at Low Temperatures

Download or read book Mechanical Properties of Metals at Low Temperatures written by U. S. National Bureau of Standards and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Mechanical Properties of Metals at Low Temperatures: Proceedings of the Nbs Semicentennial Symposium on Mechanical Properties of Metals at Low Temperatures, Held at the Nbs on May 14 and 15, 1951 A brief account is given of work in Europe since 1940 on the mechanical properties of metals at low temperatures. Elasticity and plasticity are dealt with, and the development of brittleness at low temperatures is discussed in relation to brittle fracture in mild steel, the behavior of heat-treated alloy steels at temperatures prevailing in the stratosphere, and the reliability of austenitic steels at liquid-air temperature. The properties at low temperatures of pure alloys of iron made at the National Physical Laboratory are described, and it is shown that some alloying additions exert influences on the rupture strength that are independent of their influence on the resistance to plastic deformation.
