Une deuxième étude montre l'incidence négative de la variabilité du régime thermique des cours d'eau sur la longueur de chaîne trophique et apporte un nouveau soutien au déterminant "stabilité de l'écosystème" .Enfin, une troisième étude explore les effets de l'occupation des sols à 2 échelles spatiales, et suggère une influence complexe jouant sur la diversité des ressources et des niveaux trophiques du réseau.

Book excerpt: Connaître les facteurs et les processus responsables des variations de la structure spatio-temporelle des peuplements, s'impose comme une nécessité fondamentale pour l'étude de la biodiversité et la mise en place d'outils de gestion. Ce travail est consacré à l'étude de la structure des peuplements de poissons de cours d'eau du nord-ouest de la France. Il révèle les caractéristiques suivantes : 1- à l'échelle régionale (d'un bassin versant), la richesse spécifique des peuplements de poissons est régulée, en partie, par le jeu des processus d'extinction et de colonisation, et ne semble pas, à priori, limitée par la diversité de l'habitat. 2- à l'échelle locale les peuplements sont insaturés en espèces et en individus. Les interactions biotiques, n'ont pas un effet prépondérant sur leur structure. Celle-ci serait régulée par des processus s'opérant à une échelle spatiale plus large, tel que la colonisation à partir de sites voisins. Ces résultats soulignent l'importance des facteurs régionaux dans la régulation des peuplements locaux. 3- on note un maintien de la composition spécifique des peuplements (persistance) et une relative stabilité de leur structure temporelle. En revanche, les populations sont fortement fluctuantes. Cette instabilité est déterminée, en partie, par les importantes variations stochastiques des conditions hydroclimatiques. 4- l'influence des facteurs hydroclimatiques sur les populations dépend de leurs positions sur le bassin versant, de même que des stratégies démographiques des espèces vis à vis des contraintes abiotiques. La stochasticité environnementale tend à modifier les interactions inter-spécifiques et intra-spécifiques (densité-dépendance) de même que la configuration des peuplements. Enfin
