Book excerpt: Excerpt from Stream Flow Records for the Water Year October 1, 1925, to September 30, 1926 Climatic conditions during November were mostly seasonable. The temperature averaged somewhat below normal, while there was a moderate excess in precipitation, but they represented gradual ac cumulations rather than extreme or unusual conditions for any particular period. The chief feature of the month's weather, which affected stream flows, was the fairly heavy and general rain that occurred on the 13th. More than one-third of the total precipitation for the month took place at that time. The stream flows were in general materially increased, ground water supplies replenished, lakes, ponds and reservoirs filled and ample. Water supplies assured for the winter months. The temperatures for December averaged about normal, while the precipitation was but little more than half the usual amount and much less than the ordinary proportion of it was in the form of snow. More than half of the total precipitation for the month took place during. The first week when the temperatures were above freezing and as a whole there were increased stream flows. The Allegheny and North Branch Susquehanna Rivers were most afiected, while the streams near the western border of the State showed slightest change. After that time the daily amounts of precipitation were generally small and the stream flows gradually decreased. Ah normally low temperatures prevailed during the last week of the month and the streams receded rapidly to lowest flows during the winter. In general the stage-discharge relations were affected by ice from about the 25th of the month. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
