Book Strat gies de contr le laser de la dynamique mol culaire

Download or read book Strat gies de contr le laser de la dynamique mol culaire written by Catherine Lefebvre and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis studies the phenomenology of the molecular dynamics in intense laser field and, more precisely the basic mechanisms in the stabilization of a molecule with respect to the dissociation. The main line in these works concerns the dynamics of the Floquet resonances in intense laser field. Simple and generic strategies are proposed and applied to the one-dimension model of H2+ molecular ion for which time-dependent wavepacket calculations have been performed. Starting from the synchronization mechanism between the wavepacket movements and those of the potential energy curves, originally established in the infrared spectral domain where the quasi-static picture is used, we propose a scenario to extend its application to the ultraviolet-visible spectral domain where the multiphotonic picture is valid. In the Floquet representation, we observe a breathing of the dressed potential energy curves at the one-photon crossing following, not the carrier-wave oscillations, but those of the envelope of frequency lying in the infrared. We are particularly interested in the dependance of the molecular dynamics on the phase of the envelope and we use a recent reformulation of the Floquet theory to establish the origin of the dynamical role of the absolute phase. By a simple optimization of the optical parameters, we take advantage of the different basic mechanisms in the multiphotonic and quasi-static pictures in order to stabilize the molecule with respect to the dissociation via an adiabatic transfer of an initial vibrational state onto a resonance. Even more efficiently, this transfer is done onto a zero-width resonance. All these multiphotonic processes are then applied to the problem of the dissociative ionization of H2 for which we study the dynamics of H2+ molecular ion under a femtosecond near-infrared laser pulse, previously prepared from the neutral molecule by an extreme ultraviolet attosecond pulse. The study of the adiabatic or non-adiabatic character of the preparation of the ion and its subsequent evolution under the infrared pulse allows one to retrieve a signature of the dynamics of the Floquet resonances and an indirect image of the initial vibrational wavepacket. This type of molecular dynamics imaging brings a theoretical support for interpretation of experimental results concerning the photofragment kinetic energy spectra. Finally, using the same reformulation of the Floquet theory, we demonstrate the existence of a wavepackets interferometry, the wavepackets being individually prepared successively by each attosecond pulse in a train. This new scheme of an extreme ultraviolet attosecond pump pulse combined with an infrared femtosecond probe pulse gives in principle a strategy to characterize attosecond pulse trains.

Download or read book Contr le de la dynamique rotationnelle de mol cules par impulsions laser ultra br ves mises en forme written by Mathias Renard and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drug discovery is all about finding small molecules that interact in a desired way with larger molecules, namely proteins and other macromolecules in the human body. If the three-dimensional structures of both the small and large molecule are known, their interaction can be tested by computer simulation with a reasonable degree of accuracy. Alternatively, if active ligands are already available, molecular similarity searches can be used to find new molecules. This virtual screening can even be applied to compounds that have yet to be synthesized, as opposed to "real" screening that requires cost- and labor-intensive laboratory testing with previously synthesized drug compounds. Unique in its focus on the end user, this is a real "how to" book that does not presuppose prior experience in virtual screening or a background in computational chemistry. It is both a desktop reference and practical guide to virtual screening applications in drug discovery, offering a comprehensive and up-to-date overview. Clearly divided into four major sections, the first provides a detailed description of the methods required for and applied in virtual screening, while the second discusses the most important challenges in order to improve the impact and success of this technique. The third and fourth, practical parts contain practical guidelines and several case studies covering the most important scenarios for new drug discovery, accompanied by general guidelines for the entire workflow of virtual screening studies. Throughout the text, medicinal chemists from academia, as well as from large and small pharmaceutical companies report on their experience and pass on priceless practical advice on how to make best use of these powerful methods.

Book Surface Tension in Microsystems

Download or read book Surface Tension in Microsystems written by Pierre Lambert and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-08-31 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes how surface tension effects can be used by engineers to provide mechanical functions in miniaturized products (1 mm). Even if precursors of this field such as Jurin or Laplace already date back to the 18th century, describing surface tension effects from a mechanical perspective is very recent.brThe originality of this book is to consider the effects of capillary bridges on solids, including forces and torques exerted both statically and dynamically by the liquid along the 6 degrees-of-freedom.brIt provides a comprehensive approach to various applications, such as capillary adhesion (axial force), centering force in packaging and micro-assembly (lateral force) and recent developments such as a capillary motor (torque).

Book Physics of Amphiphilic Layers

Download or read book Physics of Amphiphilic Layers written by Jacques Meunier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amphiphilic layers play essential roles in the behaviour of a great variety of disperse systems such as micelles, microemulsions and vesicles. They can also exist as isolated mono- or bilayers, or constitute extended liquid crystalline structures. Although the properties of these different systems may at first sight seem unrelated, theoretical interpretations of them depend on several common concepts. This was the reason for bringing together scientists working in this area for the International Winter School on the Physics of Amphiphilic Layers, which was held at Les Houches, 10-18 February, 1987. The topics treated in the proceedings volume are mono- and bilayers, interactive forces between layers (with special emphasis on steric forces), ordered structures (in particular swollen lamellar phases and defects), vesicles, micelles (including polymer-like systems), microemulsions (especially random bicontinuous structures) and porous media. The importance of thermal fluctuations in the amphiphilic layers is stressed. Recent results are presented and literature references allow readers not familiar with the subject to find any background information they require.
