Heather is now six months pregnant and finds her mate a bit overprotective. She can’t help it if she glows when she’s frustrated. Things get a little more complicated when she is called home because of Ialog, the man who keeps trying to separate them. He released information, making it appear she was being mistreated by the Vespians. How is she going to hide her pregnancy? She left Earth sterile. Storm isn’t happy about his mate leaving the safety of Vespia, but also wants to prove that Heather is happy and safe under his care. He knows Ialog and is worried the man is going to try to take his mate from him again. His fears become very real when Ialog kidnaps her. Now he has to find a way to bring her home. Download or read book Value Reality and Desire written by Graham Oddie and published by Clarendon Press. This book was released on 2005-03-10 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Value, Reality, and Desire is an extended argument for a robust realism about value. The robust realist affirms the following distinctive theses. There are genuine claims about value which are true or false - there are facts about value. These value-facts are mind-independent - they are not reducible to desires or other mental states, or indeed to any non-mental facts of a non-evaluative kind. And these genuine, mind-independent, irreducible value-facts are causally efficacious. Values, quite literally, affect us. These are not particularly fashionable theses, and taken as a whole they go somewhat against the grain of quite a lot of recent work in the metaphysics of value. Further, against the received view, Oddie argues that we can have knowledge of values by experiential acquaintance, that there are experiences of value which can be both veridical and appropriately responsive to the values themselves. Finally, these value-experiences are not the products of some exotic and implausible faculty of 'intuition'. Rather, they are perfectly mundane and familiar mental states - namely, desires. This view explains how values can be 'intrinsically motivating', without falling foul of the widely accepted 'queerness' objection. There are, of course, other objections to each of the realist's claims. In showing how and why these objections fail, Oddie introduces a wealth of interesting and original insights about issues of wider interest - including the nature of properties, reduction, supervenience, and causation. The result is a novel and interesting account which illuminates what would otherwise be deeply puzzling features of value and desire and the connections between them.

Book excerpt: Pilgrims to the Wild is a survey of American writers who have responded to their encounters with the natural world. Ranging in its treatment from Thoreau's important but neglected essay, 'Walking, ' to the exuberant letters of the young artist Everett Ruess (who disappeared in the Escalante canyonlands), this is a broadly based exploration that brings to bear Eastern and Western classical philosophy, as well as contemporary critical theory, on a distinctive tradition of American Writing--those works concerned with the human relationship to the nonhuman world. In addition to offering a fresh interpretation of classic authors such a Thoreau and Muir, this book introduces readers to the less widely known but equally fascinating writers Clarence King and Mary Austin.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The absence of the angel of death, one of the most powerful celestial beings, had persisted for forty years. The resulting turmoil encouraged the demons of the covenant to unleash a dangerous plan. If they discovered Azriel's location and turned him to their cause, the tide in the eternal struggle between heaven and hell would shift significantly in their favor. If they failed, their own existence would most likely be forfeit. The difficulty of their search was amplified due to the fact that Azriel was also lost to himself with no recollection of his angelic form. Meanwhile, Aaron Todd, concurrently a youth pastor at a small Midwestern church and a logistics coordinator for a secret antislavery organization, wanted only to help those in need and keep his daughter safe. Thus far in life, he had been successful at both. As these two worlds collided, Aaron's dreams became a mix of horrific nightmares and arguments with demonic voices. In his waking reality, he was forced into a journey from Earth through the outskirts of hell. On this path, he would have to reunite with his loved ones and his own identity if he wanted to defeat the covenant and discover his own true purpose.
