This book was released on 2007-12-31 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ideas and principles of stochastic analysis have managed to penetrate into various fields of pure and applied mathematics in the last 15 years; it is particularly true for mathematical physics. This volume provides a wide range of applications of stochastic analysis in fields as varied as statistical mechanics, hydrodynamics, Yang-Mills theory and spin-glass theory. The proper concept of stochastic dynamics relevant to each type of application is described in detail here. Altogether, these approaches illustrate the reasons why their dissemination in other fields is likely to accelerate in the years to come./a

Book Elements of Stochastic Dynamics

Download or read book Elements of Stochastic Dynamics written by Guo-Qiang Cai and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2016-05-03 with total page 533 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stochastic dynamics has been a subject of interest since the early 20th Century. Since then, much progress has been made in this field of study, and many modern applications for it have been found in fields such as physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, economy, finance, and many branches of engineering including Mechanical, Ocean, Civil, Bio, and Earthquake Engineering.Elements of Stochastic Dynamics aims to meet the growing need to understand and master the subject by introducing fundamentals to researchers who want to explore stochastic dynamics in their fields and serving as a textbook for graduate students in various areas involving stochastic uncertainties. All topics within are presented from an application approach, and may thus be more appealing to users without a background in pure Mathematics. The book describes the basic concepts and theories of random variables and stochastic processes in detail; provides various solution procedures for systems subjected to stochastic excitations; introduces stochastic stability and bifurcation; and explores failures of stochastic systems. The book also incorporates some latest research results in modeling stochastic processes; in reducing the system degrees of freedom; and in solving nonlinear problems. The book also provides numerical simulation procedures of widely-used random variables and stochastic processes.A large number of exercise problems are included in the book to aid the understanding of the concepts and theories, and may be used for as course homework.

It presents an extensive set of study methods and results on the motion of natural satellites of the planets and includes reviews and references to related publication for further explanation. By relating observations to numerical theory, the book serves as a quick and comprehensive reference for applying the theory of orbital dynamics to observational data on orbits and physical properties of the natural satellites in order to formulate state-of-the-art explanations and models, particularly for determining the parameters of satellite motion. Combines astronomy and celestial mechanics, providing astrometric data from observations to inform methods and models for predicting natural satellite dynamics Includes both theory and observation in one place and presents new models based on observations Organized into small sections, each providing specific measurements, calculations or models, making it a quick and comprehensive reference

Book Spacecraft Dynamics and Control

Download or read book Spacecraft Dynamics and Control written by Enrico Canuto and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2018-03-08 with total page 792 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spacecraft Dynamics and Control: The Embedded Model Control Approach provides a uniform and systematic way of approaching space engineering control problems from the standpoint of model-based control, using state-space equations as the key paradigm for simulation, design and implementation. The book introduces the Embedded Model Control methodology for the design and implementation of attitude and orbit control systems. The logic architecture is organized around the embedded model of the spacecraft and its surrounding environment. The model is compelled to include disturbance dynamics as a repository of the uncertainty that the control law must reject to meet attitude and orbit requirements within the uncertainty class. The source of the real-time uncertainty estimation/prediction is the model error signal, as it encodes the residual discrepancies between spacecraft measurements and model output. The embedded model and the uncertainty estimation feedback (noise estimator in the book) constitute the state predictor feeding the control law. Asymptotic pole placement (exploiting the asymptotes of closed-loop transfer functions) is the way to design and tune feedback loops around the embedded model (state predictor, control law, reference generator). The design versus the uncertainty class is driven by analytic stability and performance inequalities. The method is applied to several attitude and orbit control problems. The book begins with an extensive introduction to attitude geometry and algebra and ends with the core themes: state-space dynamics and Embedded Model Control Fundamentals of orbit, attitude and environment dynamics are treated giving emphasis to state-space formulation, disturbance dynamics, state feedback and prediction, closed-loop stability Sensors and actuators are treated giving emphasis to their dynamics and modelling of measurement errors. Numerical tables are included and their data employed for numerical simulations Orbit and attitude control problems of the European GOCE mission are the inspiration of numerical exercises and simulations The suite of the attitude control modes of a GOCE-like mission is designed and simulated around the so-called mission state predictor Solved and unsolved exercises are included within the text - and not separated at the end of chapters - for better understanding, training and application Simulated results and their graphical plots are developed through MATLAB/Simulink code

Book The Art of Modeling Dynamic Systems

Download or read book The Art of Modeling Dynamic Systems written by Foster Morrison and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2012-03-07 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text illustrates the roles of statistical methods, coordinate transformations, and mathematical analysis in mapping complex, unpredictable dynamical systems. It describes the benefits and limitations of the available modeling tools, showing engineers and scientists how any system can be rendered simpler and more predictable. Written by a well-known authority in the field, this volume employs practical examples and analogies to make models more meaningful. The more universal methods appear in considerable detail, and advanced dynamic principles feature easy-to-understand examples. The text draws careful distinctions between mathematical abstractions and observable realities. Additional topics include the role of pure mathematics, the limitations of numerical methods, forecasting in the presence of chaos and randomness, and dynamics without calculus. Specialized techniques and case histories are coordinated with a carefully selected and annotated bibliography. The original edition was a Library of Science Main Selection in May, 1991. This new Dover edition features corrections by the author and a new Preface.

Book Stochastic Analysis and Applications in Physics

Download or read book Stochastic Analysis and Applications in Physics written by Ana Isabel Cardoso and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The intensive exchange between mathematicians and users has led in recent years to a rapid development of stochastic analysis. Of the users, the physicists form perhaps the most important group, giving direction to the mathematicians' research and providing a source of intuition. White noise analysis has emerged as a viable framework for stochastic and infinite dimensional analysis. Another growth area is the theory of stochastic partial differential equations. Gauge field theories are attracting increasing attention. Dirichlet forms provide a fruitful link between the mathematics of Markov processes and the physics of quantum systems. The deterministic-stochastic interface is addressed, as are Euclidean quantum mechanics, excursions of diffusions and the convergence of Markov chains to thermal states.
