Book Stochastic Adaptive Control Results and Simulations

Download or read book Stochastic Adaptive Control Results and Simulations written by Alexis Aloneftis and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theme of this monograph is the adaptive control of systems in a stochastic environment and, more precisely, the study of the tracking problem for ARMAX SISO stochastic systems with time invariant and time varying parameters. Results of simultaneous tracking and parameter identification are included. The author has aimed to (1) provide a reasonably self-contained and up-to-date exposition of the tracking problem after having properly placed it amongst numerous ideas, approaches, and subproblems related to adaptive control, (2) display computer simulation results and discuss their comparative behaviour, (3) introduce a new approach to the stochastic adaptive control with promising results, and (4) qualitatively discuss the adaptive control problem in the hope of improving our understanding of it, stimulate the informed reader to come up with new ideas, and attract newcomers to its study. The reader is assumed to have studied control systems at the graduate level and to have a reasonably good grasp of basic probability theory. Apart from its educational value to the adaptive control student, it is hoped that the accumulation of scattered results and their computer simulation, as well as an extensive reference section will attract the active researcher in this field.

Book Adaptive Stochastic Control for Linear Systems Part Ii Asymptotic Properties and Simulation Results

Download or read book Adaptive Stochastic Control for Linear Systems Part Ii Asymptotic Properties and Simulation Results written by Michael Athans and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problem considered in this two-part paper deals with the control of linear, discrete-time, stochastic systems with unknown (possibly time-varying and random) gain parameters. The philosophy of control is based on the use of an open-loop-feedback-optimal (O.L.F.O.) control using a quadratic index of performance. in Part I it is shown that the O.L.F.O. system consists of (1) an identifier that estimates the system state variables and gain parameters, and (2) by a controller described by an 'adaptive' gain and correction term. Several qualitative properties of the overal system are obtained from an interpretation of the equations. Part II deals with the asymptotic properties of the O.L.F.O. adaptive system and with simulation results dealing with the control of stable and unstable third order plants. Comparisons are carried out with the optimal system when the parameters are known. In addition, the simulation results are interpreted in the context of the qualitative conclusions reached in Part I. Book Stochastic Systems

Download or read book Stochastic Systems written by P. R. Kumar and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2015-12-15 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its origins in the 1940s, the subject of decision making under uncertainty has grown into a diversified area with application in several branches of engineering and in those areas of the social sciences concerned with policy analysis and prescription. These approaches required a computing capacity too expensive for the time, until the ability to collect and process huge quantities of data engendered an explosion of work in the area. This book provides succinct and rigorous treatment of the foundations of stochastic control; a unified approach to filtering, estimation, prediction, and stochastic and adaptive control; and the conceptual framework necessary to understand current trends in stochastic control, data mining, machine learning, and robotics.

Book Bounded Dynamic Stochastic Systems

Download or read book Bounded Dynamic Stochastic Systems written by Hong Wang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past decades, although stochastic system control has been studied intensively within the field of control engineering, all the modelling and control strategies developed so far have concentrated on the performance of one or two output properties of the system. such as minimum variance control and mean value control. The general assumption used in the formulation of modelling and control strategies is that the distribution of the random signals involved is Gaussian. In this book, a set of new approaches for the control of the output probability density function of stochastic dynamic systems (those subjected to any bounded random inputs), has been developed. In this context, the purpose of control system design becomes the selection of a control signal that makes the shape of the system outputs p.d.f. as close as possible to a given distribution. The book contains material on the subjects of: - Control of single-input single-output and multiple-input multiple-output stochastic systems; - Stable adaptive control of stochastic distributions; - Model reference adaptive control; - Control of nonlinear dynamic stochastic systems; - Condition monitoring of bounded stochastic distributions; - Control algorithm design; - Singular stochastic systems. A new representation of dynamic stochastic systems is produced by using B-spline functions to descripe the output p.d.f. Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage the transfer of technology in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of new work in all aspects of industrial control.

Book Virtual Equivalent System Approach for Stability Analysis of Model based Control Systems

Download or read book Virtual Equivalent System Approach for Stability Analysis of Model based Control Systems written by Weicun Zhang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-06-05 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book puts forward the concept of a virtual equivalent system (VES) based on theoretical analysis and simulation results. The new concept will facilitate the development of a unified framework for analyzing the stability and convergence of self-tuning control (STC) systems, and potentially, of all adaptive control systems. The book then shows that a time-varying STC system can be converted into a time-invariant system using a certain nonlinear compensation signal, which reduces the complexity and difficulty of stability and convergence analysis. In closing, the VES concept and methodology are used to assess the stability of multiple model adaptive control (MMAC) systems and T-S model-based fuzzy control systems.

Book Adaptive Stochastic Control of Linear Systems with Random Parameters

Download or read book Adaptive Stochastic Control of Linear Systems with Random Parameters written by Richard Tse-Min Ku and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis investigates the adaptive stochastic control of linear dynamic systems with purely random parameters. Hence there is no posterior learning about the system parameters. The control law is non-dual; still it has the qualitative properties of an adaptive control law. In the perfect measurement case, the control law is modulated by the priori level of uncertainty of the system parameters. Optimal stochastic control of dynamic systems with uncertain parameters has certain limitations. For the linear-quadratic optimal problem, the infinite horizon solution does not exist if the parameter uncertainty exceeds a certain quantifiable threshold. By considering the discounted cost problem, we have obtained some results on optimality versus stability for this class of stochastic control problems. For the noisy sensor measurement case the optimal fixed structure estimator-controller is obtained. The control law requires the solution of a coupled nonlinear two-point boundary value problem. Computer simulations of the forward and backward difference equations provided some insight into the uncertainty threshold for the closed loop system.
