Download or read book Stepping Out of the Boat written by Kimberly Smith and published by Tate Publishing & Enterprises. This book was released on 2013-08-06 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The heaviness of guilt, shame, anger, sadness can yield a sick heart and weary spirit. I could find myself at random moments feeling pains in my belly area. It is hard to really describe it, but I would compare it to an inward sore. One day I was driving to work with not much on my mind. I turned on the radio, and Tamela Mann was singing "Take Me to the King." I began to sing along, "Take me to the King, I don't have much to bring... take me to the throne, leave me there alone." The gentle touch of teardrops began to flow down my cheek and slowly dripped from the edge of my chin. "How did I get to this place?" I wondered. It takes a brave woman to acknowledge where she is emotionally and not beat herself up about it. I had to recognize that my heart was still broken, yet I was rushing to get better due to false expectations. People often walk around wearing unlocked handcuffs and enduring pain, when God wants them to live a boundary-free life. In Stepping Out of the Boat, author Kim Smith shares how her loss was a major blow that forced an exchange--accept healing and trust again, or reject it and remain subdued. You can't get rid of your process, so are you willing to deal with you?

Book Stepping Out of the Boat a Year of Miracles

Download or read book Stepping Out of the Boat a Year of Miracles written by James M Thayer and published by . This book was released on 2023-02-28 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For twenty years I lived the Christian life in my own strength and in ignorance of the Holy Spirit's work. I did not talk to Him, I did not acknowledge what He desired to do in my world or the lives of others, and I drug Him into my sin - grieving Him in the process. Coming out of the Pandemic in 2021, God started to call my wife and I into a form of Christianity resembling the book of Acts - filled with adventure and risk. It wouldn't take long walking with the Holy Spirit for me to see my first instantaneous miraculous healing - a man's broken arm coming back together. Since that day I've seen dozens of miracles. I've seen God burn terminal illnesses out, dissolve kidney stones, realign vertebrae, and drive demons out of people - instantly freeing them of spiritual sickness in the process. I've seen Him save marriages on the brink of collapse, stop a miscarriage, and open the womb of the infertile. Since that day I've had scales fall from my eyes, opening them to the horrors of the spiritual war raging around us. And I have learned the modern church is ill-prepared to deal with the American mission field. This book details a year of my life walking with the Holy Spirit and in miracles. I hope it inspires you to do the same.

The #1 New York Times bestselling true story about the American rowing triumph of the 1936 Olympics in Berlin—from the author of Facing the Mountain For readers of Unbroken, out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times—the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant. It was an unlikely quest from the start. With a team composed of the sons of loggers, shipyard workers, and farmers, the University of Washington’s eight-oar crew team was never expected to defeat the elite teams of the East Coast and Great Britain, yet they did, going on to shock the world by defeating the German team rowing for Adolf Hitler. The emotional heart of the tale lies with Joe Rantz, a teenager without family or prospects, who rows not only to regain his shattered self-regard but also to find a real place for himself in the world. Drawing on the boys’ own journals and vivid memories of a once-in-a-lifetime shared dream, Brown has created an unforgettable portrait of an era, a celebration of a remarkable achievement, and a chronicle of one extraordinary young man’s personal quest.
