Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stepping into Tomorrow: The Awakening throws a spotlight on the worsening condition of black men and women living in America and their survival or extinction, if they remain unconscious to what is happening in their lives. The plight of black people is a major concern for Sheila, a young and upcoming chief executive officer (CEO) at one of Chicago’s prominent financial, marketing, and investment firms. In her attempt to understand the black condition, Sheila must first understand the psychological stereotypes levied against blacks in general. She must also come to terms with the relationship between the black man and woman, their mind-set, and why she is unable to open herself to love. Through her friends, Tameka, one of Chicago’s top defense attorneys, and Connie, a successful small business owner, they, in their many debates and discussions, look at the plight of blacks. Although these exchanges are informative, Sheila, however, still struggles with in her consciousness to find a solution that will bring her people to an awakened state. From her perspective, blacks are on a road that can only lead to destruction. Therefore, Sheila is convinced that an awakening is needed and that someone must sound the alarm.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THIS BOOK WILL RELEASE YOU TO DO THE WILL OF GOD FOR YOUR LIFE! In A Spiritual Awakening, revivalist Tommie Zito releases Christians to do the will of God with fearless faith. With years of successful evangelism to his credit, the author boldly decries the state of the Sunday morning ritual: The voice of the Lord is relegated to pointless sermons and denominational drivel. Religion has paralyzed the passion and desire of the believer to do the will of God. The Church is suffocating under the spirit of slumber, while believing all is well. BUT THERE IS HOPE--YOU! You and millions like you have the call, the passion and the desire to do what religion and its accompanying litany of legalism can never accomplish. You can change the world, your country, your city, your neighborhood, your home. Zito calls on believers to the last-day Church's mandate to be a "house of prayer," if it is to move in an anointing which will make the world take notice of the Most High God. Zito notes, "A church bulletin contains more social activities and outings than times set aside to really pray and seek the Father's face." The power of the Holy Spirit awaits all those who will respond to the burden of this book: to shake off religious irrelevancy and to do the will of God despite all opposition.

Though growing up in material privilege in suburban Connecticut in the 1970's and 80's, Albert finds himself whirling through an emotional wasteland void of love, complicated by his mostly absent alcoholic mother, while being raised by a violent Swiss-German governess. A dramatic downgrade in lifestyle right at adolescence inspires a hasty attraction to alcohol, drugs, and a series of increasingly shocking adventures.Filled with a luminous cast of characters, and told with searing honesty and ironic wit, "Beamish Boy" is a redemptive story of survival and letting go, as we follow Albert from one zany adventure and near-death experience to the next. He is run over by his best friend after blacking out in a driveway, contracts malaria in east Africa, and joins a psychedelic "therapy" cult, until he miraculously finds himself, through photography, poetry, and a hilarious awakening at a meditation retreat center, realizing finally, what it means to be fully alive and to truly love."Beamish Boy" charts a compelling spiritual journey, from violence and self-annihilation to creativity and self-realization. Book excerpt: In this #1 international bestseller, a young woman leaves everything behind to work as a librarian in a remote French village, where she finds her outlook on life and love challenged in every way. Prudencia Prim is a young woman of intelligence and achievement, with a deep knowledge of literature and several letters after her name. But when she accepts the post of private librarian in the village of San Ireneo de Arnois, she is unprepared for what she encounters there. Her employer, a book-loving intellectual, is dashing yet contrarian, always ready with a critique of her cherished Jane Austen and Louisa May Alcott. The neighbors, too, are capable of charm and eccentricity in equal measure, determined as they are to preserve their singular little community from the modern world outside. Prudencia hoped for friendship in San Ireneo but she didn't suspect that she might find love—nor that the course of her new life would run quite so rocky or would offer challenge and heartache as well as joy, discovery, and fireside debate. Set against a backdrop of steaming cups of tea, freshly baked cakes, and lovely company, The Awakening of Miss Prim is a distinctive and delightfully entertaining tale of literature, philosophy, and the search for happiness.
