Book excerpt: A flourishing pastoral heartbeat is possible—for those who are intentional. Ministry in modern society presents a perpetual assault on the pastor’s soul. Culture has changed, and the challenges of ministry have changed with it. Many new pastors are discovering that they’re ill-equipped to manage unexpected, soul-health tensions of ministry. Some are walking away, and others are choosing to not enter the pastorate despite a sense of God’s calling. Cary Schmidt shares a fresh approach to cultivating emotional health for a lifetime in ministry. Infuse your weary pastoral soul with renewed health, consistent joy, and true flourishing. The heart of Steady Strength is to bring vitality and renewed passion to perplexed and weary servants. Schmidt explores how tensions on the modern pastor can be navigated in three compelling ways: Reckoning with the realities of an unusual call. Cultivating health in unique ways. Nurturing a robust, gospel-culture in ministry. Far from a mournful, complaining manifesto of the negative burdens of the pastor’s life, this book is a celebration of the wonderful and joyful opportunity to shepherd God’s people. In this three-part book, Cary Schmidt unfolds a workable approach to sustained, joyful pastoral health.

Download or read book A Method for Calculating the Subsonic Steady state Loading on an Airplane with a Wing of Arbitrary Plan Form and Stiffness written by W. L. Gray and published by . This book was released on 1953 with total page 704 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method for computing the steady-state span load distribution on an elastic airplane wing for specified airplane weights and load factors is given. The method is based on a modification of the Weissinger L-method and applies at subcritical Mach numbers. It includes the effects of external stores and fuselage on the spanwise loading. Modifications are outlined for treating tail-boom and tailless airplane configurations and for calculating the divergence dynamic pressure of a swept wing with a large external store. A method is also outlined for reducing wind-tunnel data to obtain effective aerodynamic coefficients which are free of model flexibility effects. The effects of Mach number can readily be evaluated from the aerodynamic coefficients thus obtained.

Download or read book Thinking Physics for Teaching written by C. Bernardini and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research in Physics Education has to do with the search of solutions to the complex problem of how to improve the learning and teaching of physics. The complexity of the problem lies in the different fields of knowledge that need to be considered in the research. In fact, besides the disciplinary knowledge in physics (which must be considered from the conceptual, the historical, and the epistemological framework), one has to take into account some basic knowledge in the context of psychology and the cognitive sciences (for the general and contextual aspects of learning) and some basic knowledge in education and comunication (for what concerns teaching skills and strategies). Looking back at the historical development of the research one may recognize that the complexity of the endeavour was not clear at first but became clear in its development, which shifted the focus of the research in the course of time from physics to learning to teaching. We may say that the research started, more than 30 years ago, with a focus on disciplinary knowledge. Physicists in different parts of the western world, after research work in some field of physics, decided to concentrate on the didactical comunication of physical knowledge.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microcomputer-based labs, the use of real-time data capture and display in teaching, give the learner new ways to explore and understand the world. As this book shows, the international effort over a quarter-century to develop and understand microcomputer-based labs (MBL) has resulted in a rich array of innovative implementations and some convincing evidence for the value of computers for learning. The book is a sampler of MBL work by an outstanding international group of scientists and educators, based on papers they presented at a seminar held as part of the NATO Special Programme on Advanced Educational Technology. The story they tell of the development of MBL offers valuable policy lessons on how to promote educational innovation. The book will be of interest to a wide range of educators and to policy makers.
