Book Nonperturbative Methods In Quantum Field Theory Proceedings Of The Workshop

Download or read book Nonperturbative Methods In Quantum Field Theory Proceedings Of The Workshop written by Andreas W Schreiber and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1999-01-15 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of the Workshop on Nonperturbative Methods in Quantum Field Theory, held in Adelaide, Australia, in February 1998. Lattice gauge theory and calculations based on the use of Schwinger-Dyson equations feature prominently, with further contributions in the areas of variational and functional techniques, strong interaction phenomenology and chiral perturbation theory. QCD in the infrared regime as well as QCD at finite temperatures and densities is the subject matter of a number of papers, while other authors explore chiral symmetry breaking in QCD as well as in other field theories.

Book Ultracold Bosonic and Fermionic Gases

Download or read book Ultracold Bosonic and Fermionic Gases written by Kathryn Levin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-07-30 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapidly developing topic of ultracold atoms has many actual and potential applications for condensed-matter science, and the contributions to this book emphasize these connections. Ultracold Bose and Fermi quantum gases are introduced at a level appropriate for first-year graduate students and non-specialists such as more mature general physicists. The reader will find answers to questions like: how are experiments conducted and how are the results interpreted? What are the advantages and limitations of ultracold atoms in studying many-body physics? How do experiments on ultracold atoms facilitate novel scientific opportunities relevant to the condensed-matted community? This volume seeks to be comprehensible rather than comprehensive; it aims at the level of a colloquium, accessible to outside readers, containing only minimal equations and limited references. In large part, it relies on many beautiful experiments from the past fifteen years and their very fruitful interplay with basic theoretical ideas. In this particular context, phenomena most relevant to condensed-matter science have been emphasized. Introduces ultracold Bose and Fermi quantum gases at a level appropriate for non-specialists Discusses landmark experiments and their fruitful interplay with basic theoretical ideas Comprehensible rather than comprehensive, containing only minimal equations

Download or read book Statistical Models Yang baxter Equation And Related Topics Proceedings Of The Satellite Meeting Of Statphys 19 Symmetry Statistical Mechanical Models And Applications Proceedings Of The Seventh Nankai Workshop written by Mo-lin Ge and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-09-20 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the proceedings of two international conferences: a satellite meeting of the IUPAP Statphys-19 Conference and the Seventh Nankai Workshop, held in Tianjin, China in August 1995. The central theme of the two conferences, which drew participants from 18 countries, was the Yang-Baxter equation and its development and applications. With topics ranging from quantum groups, vertex and spin models, to applications in condensed matter physics, this book reflects the current research interest of integrable systems in statistical mechanics.

Book KdV 95

    Book Details:
  • Author : Michiel Hazewinkel
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9401100179
  • Pages : 507 pages

Download or read book KdV 95 written by Michiel Hazewinkel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 507 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exactly one hundred years ago, in 1895, G. de Vries, under the supervision of D. J. Korteweg, defended his thesis on what is now known as the Korteweg-de Vries Equation. They published a joint paper in 1895 in the Philosophical Magazine, entitled `On the change of form of long waves advancing in a rectangular canal, and on a new type of long stationary wave', and, for the next 60 years or so, no other relevant work seemed to have been done. In the 1960s, however, research on this and related equations exploded. There are now some 3100 papers in mathematics and physics that contain a mention of the phrase `Korteweg-de Vries equation' in their title or abstract, and there are thousands more in other areas, such as biology, chemistry, electronics, geology, oceanology, meteorology, etc. And, of course, the KdV equation is only one of what are now called (Liouville) completely integrable systems. The KdV and its relatives continually turn up in situations when one wishes to incorporate nonlinear and dispersive effects into wave-type phenomena. This centenary provides a unique occasion to survey as many different aspects of the KdV and related equations. The KdV equation has depth, subtlety, and a breadth of applications that make it a rarity deserving special attention and exposition.

Book Dynamical Problems in Soliton Systems

Download or read book Dynamical Problems in Soliton Systems written by Shozo Takeno and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains most of the papers presented in the oral session of the 7th Kyoto Summer Institute (KSI) . on Dynamical Problems in Soliton Systems, held in Kyoto from August 27 to 31, 1984. Furthermore, it contains contributions of R.K. Bullough, H.H. Chen, A.S. Davydov, and N. Sanchez, who unfortunately could not attend. Thirty-six papers were presented in the oral session and 17 papers in the poster session. The meeting brought together 109 physicists and mathematicians, of which 22 were from abroad (see group photograph). The KSI is an international meeting organized by the Research Institute for Fundamental Physics (RIFP), Kyoto University to discuss various cur re nt problems of fundamental importance in theoretical physics. The 7th KSI was the first international meeting on solitons in Japan. Early in 1983, it was feit in the RIFP that the time was ripe for a conference dealing with problems concerning solitons. The RIFP asked us to organize the confer ence. The Organizing Committee consisted of: R. Hirota (Hiroshima) T. Taniuti (Nagoya) Y.H. Ichikawa (Nagoya) M. Toda (Tokyo) Z. Maki (Kyoto) M. Wadati (Tokyo) N. Yajima (Fukuoka) S. Takeno (Kyoto) Since its discovery, the study of the soliton as a stable particle-like state of nonlinear systems has caught the imagination of physicists and mathemati cians.

Book Scattering Theory in Mathematical Physics

Download or read book Scattering Theory in Mathematical Physics written by J.A. Lavita and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings contain lectures given at the N.A.T.O. Advanced Study Institute entitled "Scattering Theory in Mathematics and Physics" held in Denver, Colorado, June 11-29, 1973. We have assembled the main series of lectures and some presented by other participants that seemed naturally to complement them. Unfortunately the size of this volume does not allow for a full account of all the contributions made at the Conference; however, all present were pleased by the number and breadth of those topics covered in the informal afternoon sessions. The purpose of the meeting, as reflected in its title, was to examine the single topic of scattering theory in as many of its manifestations as possible, i.e. as a hub of concepts and techniques from both mathematics and physics. The format of all the topics presented here is mathematical. The physical content embraces classical and quantum mechanical scattering, N-body systems and quantum field theoretical models. Left out are such subjects as the so-called analytic S-matrix theory and phenomeno logical models for high energy scattering. We would like to thank the main lecturers for their excellent presentations and written summaries. They provided a focus for the exceptionally strong interaction among the participants and we hope that some of the coherence achieved is reflected in these published notes. We have made no attempt to unify notation.
